hi everyone. Had scan, im not 6 weeks and 2 days as i thought. I am 5 weeks and 5 days. But too esrly to get heartbeat...crap!!! But sac is there. Dunno if thats good sign or not xx

Arabica · 07/07/2006 10:19

the very, very best of luck with your scan, caitlinsmummy. We're all thinking of you and I hope by now you've been scanned and reassured. JenJen, welcome and congratulations!
Time4tea, thanks for the advice-the beautician had already warned me I wouldn't be able to wear the polish in the operating theatre so have booked the mani/pedi for next week, 2 wks before my section!
Am also going to have my first ever bikini wax, eeeeek! When's the best day to have that--should I wait until day before section? I have quite sensitive skin and sometimes when I get my eyebrows done it's itchy afterwards. I'm not very hairy and the only time I've ever even had a shave was before my first section and it itched like a bitch!

spub · 07/07/2006 11:10

Arabica,
LOL re bikini wax. I had mine done on the Monday and the section booked for the Friday (though as you may know, the wee monkey arrived on Thursday)
My sis had a top tip and that was to trim the hair as short as poss before the wax. No mean feat but less to yank out!
Caitlinsmummy - the sac being there is great news. The heartbeat often doesn't show up so early on. Have you got another early scan booked in?
Jenjen - congrats and welcome. You've been through such a lot. Hope things work out for you this time around.

caitlinsmummy · 07/07/2006 12:34

hey everyone. Yeah spub have another scan a week on monday to detect heartbeat. So thats good news about sac being there then?xxx

caitlinsmummy · 07/07/2006 12:35

Hey arabica, thanks so much. I had scan, but I thought I was 6 weeks +2 days but, I am 5 weeks 5 days, so too early to get heartbeat, but sac is there gotta go bk on 17th to detect heartbeat xx

wools · 07/07/2006 14:47

Caitlinsmummy - it's a great sign that the sac is there although I know it's very frustrating for you as you want to know if there's a heartbeat. Just try and stay positive until your next scan - eat well and look after yourself. I'm sure everything will be fine but totally know how you feel....keep posting on this thread and we'll do our best to get you through the next week or so.

caitlinsmummy · 07/07/2006 17:05

Hey wool, thanks for your kind words and yeah I am very frustrated about it. Jus wanna see a heartbeat, dunno how I am gonna get thru the next week, I am bk at work on Monday after being off on holiday for 2 weeks xx

HellKat · 08/07/2006 08:13

Morning all.
Welcome Jen.
How's everyone?
I'm finally sleeping a bit better (getting 4 hrs instead of 1) thanks to the temps dropping.
I feel huge! lol. Finally I'm 30+2 & my goal is only just under 4 wks away (that's when ds2 was born). Anything after that will be a bonus. Sweetpea's still engaged so spd is worse than ever but I can breathe finally
I was thinking of getting a bikini wax but ended up letting dp at me with a razor (I can't see nor get into a position where I can access it ). My lady garden had been neglected of mowing but feels alot better now that the lawn & hedges are pruned back into shape!
Have a wonderful weekend girls xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope it will come around quickly 2 mygirllollipop......its killing me xx

Arabica · 09/07/2006 22:48

Caitlinsmummy, I do feel for you--it's really difficult to be reassured at this stage and trust that a baby might be inside that sac. I'm lucky in that I didn't realise you could get scanned as early as 6 wks, thought it had to be 8, so by the time I went to EPAU they could see a heartbeat and this was v reassuring. I hope it's the same for you.
HK glad to hear you're OK, am thinking of you.

Arabica · 09/07/2006 22:50

Thanks whoever gave the tip about giving yourself a quick prune prior to the bikini wax! I'll do that.

Arabica · 09/07/2006 23:14

SnowBoo, hope you are OK--can your labour start before the stitch comes out? Not sure how it works.

Hi all!!! Was first day bk at work afetr 2 weeks holiday. aaah. Anyway took my mind off pregnancy for a while. xx

time4tea · 10/07/2006 18:25

hello Caitlinsmummy, I'm completely freaked thinking about my scan tomorrow. according to my dates, I should be 8 weeks 2 days, so hope to see something. But after a couple of weeks of thinking - worrying won't do any good, just makes things worse - and dealing with it, I'm now just counting the hours....

Hi ladies, good luck to those having scans!

Arabica, not sure what happens if i go into labour, the consultant said he would have to take the stitch out as soon as i got to the hosp but that sounds like a lot of pain to me!
Hopefully they will take it out before baby decides to arrive but the way i'm feeling looks like an emergency removal!!!!

Arabica · 10/07/2006 22:02

Good luck T4T, let us know what happens. Glad you will have stuff to do to take your mind off your next scan, Caitlinsmummy.
SnowBoo, how would you feel if it did come early--do you feel ready? I sure as hell don't. Am only just starting to enjoy being pregnant!

caitlinsmummy · 11/07/2006 07:50

Hey t4t, good luck today, I no how you feel, I will be in same position this monday. Let me no wat happens. You will be ok . Arabica, I am so glad I have something to take my mind off my scan too. Cant wait til monday tho, hope I am ok xx

Why not MGL? I had a good sleep last night--but the night before, it just didn't happen. I must have got up 5 times for the loo and felt like murdering DS and DH for snuffly snoring.

time4tea · 11/07/2006 14:02

thanks ladies for all the good wishes, I really do have a little bean in there, with a good heartbeat.

power to the beanies indeed! it all seems a lot more real now. I did flick though the Lesley Regan book (the general one on pregnancy, not the miscarriage one) and did see that great stat on pregnancies having a 95% chance of good outcome after a scan with a heartbeat... so while not feeling complacent, I do feel a bit of relief for now. the EPU offered me another scan in 2 weeks, then 3 weeks to go until the 12 week scan - which is also a good relief, 2 weeks doesn't seem too long to wait....

thanks again for being so kind about my nerves. the last couple of days were miserable and I thought I was going to start wailing hysterically in the EPU waiting room
