Hellkat- DD1 was a long labour over 3 days and arrived a week late but DD2 started about 10am at 6 days late, went in to hospital at 2am the following morning, and arrived at 6.50am. She was very quick. I just read you post about your waters from earlier on. I'm still wondering about mine because I've been getting that, like when I turn over in bed and (sorry TMI) but it just feels like it's coming from the wrong place for it to be wee. I know my muscles aren't what they were. The only thing is that getting in to the afternoon/late evening yesterday, there seemed to be a lot of wee leaking and that's what I've had all the way through. Baby doesn't seem to be awfully active (I know movements slow down a lot just before birth) but it was very active yesterday so it's probably really tired!

I'd say one thing, when I have a BH, these pine dining chairs we have are very uncomfortable to sit on!

petunia · 26/04/2006 10:42

Cori- I explained to the midwife on the 'phone that it was like 1- 1 1/2 teaspoons of blood, smeared on the the pad (bit like at the start of a period). I've never had a show this early before. With DD1, I was convinced I wasn't in labour despite having these pains every 2 1/2 minutes. Then I had the mucous plug come out as well just before I went into hospital. That was like a little cork, clear and slightly blood stained. It's quite Blush because I rang up the Dr and it was him that convinced me I should go in to hospital. Luckily he turned up to do DD1s check-up 2 days after she was born so I apologised profusely for ringing him at 7.30am!
With DD2, I was well in to labour at the hospital before I had a show like I had this morning. I was expecting the mucous plug like with DD1, but didn't have anything like that. Just a smear of blood like this morning which is why I panicked at bit and rang the hospital.
Sorry that was a bit graphic and a bit of an essay too!

petunia · 26/04/2006 11:00

I should also add actually, that the midwife did say that the show/thing I had this morning might just be because I had the examination yesterday.

I've just had the thought though that having what I think is my waters leaking and this show within a day of each other is a bit too much of a coincidence for it to be caused by the examination.

slinkstah · 26/04/2006 12:12

morning all:)

yes i reckon its definatly happening petunia, im sure you will pop within days. i agree leaking all of a sudden and then a show with pressure too, its not a coincidence:)

cori have a good acupuncture today

petunia · 26/04/2006 13:44

Well, I'm off to the hospital again! I've not been getting many movements this morning (one of the things I was told to keep an eye on) so I'm off for a monitoring session.

SnowBoo · 26/04/2006 14:30

Good luck Pet, hope we hear the sounds of a baby soon x.

Oinker, keep thinking about you and sending all the positive vibes i can find! There will be a sudden outbreak of depression in West London soon due to a mysterious vibe stealer!

Hope everyone else is well.

Arabica · 26/04/2006 14:42

Vibes coming from NE London for you Oinker!
Good luck Petunia, maybe this is it...
Hope the acupuncture works wonders Cori
& hello to everyone else. I went to the gym today and met a woman almost at her due date. When I said I was 26wks pg she said, 'oh, are you pregnant, too?' FGS my bump was bigger than hers! I said 'Yes, it's not just fat, you know!' far louder than I had intended.

Wills · 26/04/2006 15:25

Arabica - Grin

Petunia - Good luck!!!!!!!!!

diddle - Oyay - wait ya turn!! No queue jumping Grin

Snowboo - umm am very blue today hence lack of contributions have you been knicking all the vibes from around here?

Am blue cos of constant back ache and lack of sleep. Have spoken to midwife who has given me some suggestions. I've been taking coedine for the pain which bungs you up but of course being bunged up makes the back ache worse so feel that I'm going round in circles. She's suggested taking Fluxade (or something like that) which is liquid iron but can only be obtained in a Health Food shop. Also I've got to talk to my doctor about lactulose which should "unbung" me! Finally she's suggested using a tens mach for the pain.

Umm gotta go back soon

HellKat · 26/04/2006 15:44

Pet- Definitely too much of a coincidence and like you said it feels like it's coming from somewhere other than the pee hole. Maybe the reason why you did'nt have much of a plug as such is maybe it's been watered down with the leakage? With ds1 I had a neat mucus plug, slightly bloodstained. With ds2 nothing lol. As Slink says you'll be popping soon, that's prolly why babba's resting up.

Over did it here, as per lol. Knackered, back sore, spd killing but a very happy bunny. Dp's got bbq going and looking forward to burgers & sausages Grin Oh & picked up walnut cake with vanilla icing all for me for pud.

diddle · 26/04/2006 15:54

Good Luck Petunia - hope all goes well.

Wills - although i am wishing the weeks away, i think baby needs a bit more time to cook Grin

slinkstah · 26/04/2006 16:01

sending A40 vibes for everyoneGrin

SnowBoo · 26/04/2006 16:19

Oh gosh, just the mere thought of the A40 sends shudders down my spine. Have to go face it very soon. And sods law, i live in the dirction the traffic flows! Bugger.

Saw a friend for a cuppa earlier and considering i saw her last week she nearly fell over at the size of me! So i'm presuming i am growing like a donkeys arse. Ho hum. Mil has offered me use of her deceased mums wheelchair. Cheeky moo.

I can't remember ever seeing a plug jelly thing. My hind waters went and nothing til mw pierced the forewaters and then GUSH.

petunia · 26/04/2006 16:33

I'm back. I was put on the monitor for 20 minutes and baby's happy as anything in there (as I said to my Dad, it can stop being happy in there and start being happy out here!) The midwife said that the head's well down. She had a look at my pad and said that she thought that my waters had gone but when she had a look internally, she couldn't see anything just normal discharge. One thing I have noticed is that any Braxton Hicks are quite powerful and have been coming every 20 minutes or so. I really don't think I'll be going a week over this time like I did with DDs although the midwife said usually that is what happens. So we carry on! And would you believe it the baby has just started moving! All that worry about not much movement.

slinkstah · 26/04/2006 16:57

glad everythings ok petunia i'd get some good sleep tonight as i reckon contractions will be coming sooner rather than later

snowboo aw poor hunny living in west london and working persumable in the city. i don't drive so never experienced the true horrors of it.
i did have coffee under the a40 this morning though- in a cafe btw not in a dark dirty underpass with all the alcys lol

diddle · 26/04/2006 17:48

Petunia - Do your contractions not hurt at all?
My BH are still coming, not as often now, but still noticeable all the same. very annoying and they appear to be taking some of my energy from me, which i am not impressed with.
So glad baby is ok and moving happily now, it was probably have a nice rest.

Think i've had a growth spurt overnight last night, everyone has commented on how large i am looking today compared to yesterday, how odd.

Had an exciting day, our car seat arrived today and my friend came round this afternoon with our moses basket, so now we really are totally ready for baby to come. Well i think we are.
We have one slight problem, with the travel system, the chassis appears to be not closing properly and the carrycot for it has got a broken foot, so we're taking those back next week. flippin thing, those boxes weigh a tonne and the shop we had it from is in a mall, so we can't even pull up outside, should be fun watching DH struggling with boxes.

oinker · 26/04/2006 17:54

I have just done a stingy pee.......
Saw a light tinge of pink on wiping...
I AM NOT HAPPY...Sad
I have done some searches and am not too sure whether I will be passing anything (blighted twin). I am even more confused after reading the web info. Most web pages talk about blighted ovum, which is not really the same. I wish I had asked questions yesterday. Sad
P/G symptoms still there.
I had to have a shower this afternoon..2nd one today cos the smell of my skin was making me feel sick.Shock How strange is that. I covered myself with Nivea after just to make sure the smell didn't return. I think I am loosing it.

Soooooooooooooooooo exciting. Smile

oinker · 26/04/2006 17:57

WHOOPS, sorry.... 'DRIVE'

OP posts:
diddle · 26/04/2006 18:00

cheers oinker, nope no loading bay, they're rubbish.
Stingy Pee and pink on wiping sounds like a water infection, although i know you'll be getting discharge as well from little twin.
Make sure you drink plenty of water too, the last thing you need at the moment is a water infection.
I keep feeling like i need a shower and like i smell all the time, but i don't have time to shower with a houseful of kids, can't leave them on their own.
Then the weather cools about now and i feel better. How annoying.

desperatehousewife · 26/04/2006 18:04

as we are on the subject of whiffy birds (!Shock) I was told by the hospital that I had some kind of infection (don't know if it was bladder/uniray or what) after weeing on a stick. Just said drink lots of water. How much water though?
My wee has been really REALLY whiffy for weeks now (just put it down to weird pregnancy thing) is this sign of infection? No other symptoms at all.

cori · 26/04/2006 18:37

DHW, I had that problem too. It is often a sign of an infection but not always. Just drink loads of water.

Well had my Acupuncture today. I did not go spontaneously into labour as some people predicted. I did feel the baby start to move down though and felt some unusual movements around the pelvis area. Had a nice long nap when I came home, and now seem to be ravenous. I am having another session on Saturday.

Slink, I asked about acupuncture for turning breech baby. She said you start sessions at about 35 weeks and would probably need some intensive sessions.

petunia · 26/04/2006 18:37

Think things might be happening!

Have been having regular contractions every 15 minutes or so, and had more of a show as well. Will try and update later but if I don't, you know where I'll be! Wink

cori · 26/04/2006 18:39

Are they very painful contractions. Looks like you are on the way.

diddle · 26/04/2006 18:47

aww petunia - how exciting!!!!!! Grin Grin

Good luck and remember to breathe.

DHW - drink as much water as you can, avoid caffeine and citrus drinks as they can make you dehydrated and put too much acid in your system.
Water infections are nasty, and trying to avoid ti getting painful is a good idea. I used to get them in the summer and they really make you feel bad. constantly wanting the loo feeling sore. Wear cotton pants and avoid thongs for a while if possible.

slinkstah · 26/04/2006 19:31

thanks cori for asking the accupunturist for me:) im off to yoga tommorrow so hopefully he will turn then although still plenty of time

petunia- ahhhhhhh its time- can't believe you might have baby tonight!!!

oinker- maybe you could call the dr tommorrow to ask what to expect from blighted twin and whats not normal etc- sending vibes west down that blumin roadGrin
