Wills · 27/06/2006 21:01

I'm sooooo late in passing on my congrats to slink and diddle. Things have gone a little nutty here but nevertheless.

So many many many congrats to you both girls.

Now will you please start joining on the other thread!

time4tea · 27/06/2006 21:21

hello ladies

can I join you? (I see the familiar Oinker moniker! hello Oinker ) I've just got a BFP last week, managed to conceive first full cycle after mc (ERPC on 24/4)and am just at the start of week 6.

Can I ask how you coped with the early weeks? I'm feeling a bit weird about it - as I had a missed miscarriage (I didn;t realise a thing was wrong until I turned up for the 12 week scan, the baby had died at about 6/7 weeks) I don't even have the comfort of "no news is good news". the mc did make me realise that worrying does no good, so I am much calmer than I thought about all this... however, it seems a long 2 weeks to go before the 7 week scan!

any tips on getting through with a healthy mental attitude?

thanks, and congratulations to the new mummies! it is really beautiful to read about new festive beanies entering the world

twocatsonthebed · 27/06/2006 21:53

forgot to say, hello petrified - and now hello time4tea and congratulations to you both!

t4t - my experience was exactly the same as yours in terms of the missed miscarriage, only it took me another six months to conceive again. The only way I got through the first twelve weeks was one day at a time - a scan at 7 weeks that showed a heartbeat helped, but I think I only relaxed a bit after 12 weeks. The vile morning sickness was also a bit of a reassurance by then. And I still check the loo paper when I wipe, even though I'm now 22 weeks...

HellKat · 28/06/2006 08:18

Morning all.
Feeling dog rough here lol. Both infections have wiped me out & all I want to do is sleep! No pains though & madam likes keeping me informed that she's doing well by booting me so hard it knocks me off balance . Even lying down in bed, the force of her mighty boots is enough to rock me from side to side. But each one makes me smile (aswell as grimace lol) because it's her way of saying "I'm ok mum".
T4T- I only truly relaxed when I could feel her move, then I could judge for myself if she was ok. Even now I still check for bleeding etc. Congrats on joining us!!
Hiya everyone else!!

ProfYaffle · 28/06/2006 10:55

Are you having any symptoms t4t? I'm about 6 weeks now and was at the same point when I m/c at Easter this year. I'm totally paranoid atm but am taking comfort in the fact that I'm feeling quite sick and exhausted beyond description.

Many congrats to slink and Diddle - lovely to hear your news.

time4tea · 28/06/2006 11:08

thanks all for your words. good to hear that it is normal to be feeling like this. better still that I'm not alone!

Prof Yaffle, I felt sick as a dog and with very unsettled stomach (terrible wind and got fat very quickly) during the pregnancy that I m/c from 6 weeks until the ERPC - whereas with my previous pregnancy (i have a DS now 2) I had no symptoms other than tiredness and bigger boobs.

Now I'm just a little bit tired and with bigger boobs, and a bit of wind (sorry if TMI). I was really convinced that the nausea last time was a good sign of a strong pregnancy, so just shows you can't tell.

Do you have a 7 week scan too? I was told to call next week and make my booking then.

ProfYaffle · 28/06/2006 11:22

Oh dear, that's not good about the sickness. I had hardly any symptoms with dd, none with the m/c but feel dreadful now.

Out of superstition I'm not ringing the midwife til the end of my 6th week (not rational i know but hey) so I'll ask about an early scan then, don't think i can wait til 12 weeks.

time4tea · 28/06/2006 11:45

don't worry Prof Yaffle, the point I was making is that it seems totally random! we can't take much comfort from anything! every single pregnancy book/website etc I have ever read says that feeling sick is a good sign. and indeed, my body was doing really well to maintain the pregnancy, as I had a missed mc, no bleeding or anything. The EPU said the problem was more with the baby's chromosomes not "communicating" - purest chance. so I am sure your feeling ghastly is a good sign.

like you say, there's nothing rational about this process at all, I'm finding myself thinking all sorts of mad thoughts to somehow "make things easier" in case I do m/c, or "if I think it, it won't happen... " all completely silly. but also normal. I'm just trying to fill my days with easy-going fun and relaxation to try to stop thinking about it quite so much... but it is so great to have MN. I was surfing the net late last night and a NZ ttc post mc website said that having understanding via a support group is a really positive thing. with a DS running around, getting to a church hall to sit on chairs in a circle might be difficult, so this is just perfect. take care Prof Y, and everyone else XXXX

ProfYaffle · 28/06/2006 12:24

Thanks t4t, power to the beanies indeed! I'm 'trying' not to think about it as well, but find myself surfing ebay for baby hammocks

Arabica · 28/06/2006 14:22

Hello everyone. T4t, I only got through the early weeks by having a scan at 8wks, then 10wks, (because my missed m/c was at 9wks). I relaxed after 13wk scan but then beause this pregnancy has been complicated, I haven't relaxed at all and won't until baby is safely out, which it will be on 27 July at the latest!
Good luck spub for Friday. I have just started getting stuff together for my hospital bags, been buying pjs in Primark and baggy knickers with hideous flowers on!

spub · 28/06/2006 14:57

Prof,
Welcome and fingers crossed for you. As T4T says, each pg is different so you feeling different might mean nothing sinister - just that it's a dfferent baby! You're in the right place to air any worries; everyone here has had them too and will understand!
HK - hope you feel better soon. Reassuring that little miss is making her presence felt so clearly!
2Cats - thanks for the good wishes!
Arabica- thanks also for the good wishes. I've also raided Primark for binnable BIG PANTS and nightshirts!!
Just had my clerking in appt at hospital. All well; baby is active with a good heartbeat and is head down. Got the chat about the section, gave some bloods and generally spent a pretty relaxed and reassuring hour in antenatal. Lovely mw and student I saw today are working on Friday so will see me then. Reckon that I'll be taken around Friday lunchtime barring a load of emergency c/s!
Feel pretty good right now. Will probably be sh*ing myself on Friday but that's a day and a half away!
Hope you're all well.

FN · 28/06/2006 15:55

Just dropping in to say All The Best for your birth on Friday Spub!

titchy77 · 28/06/2006 17:25

I know how you feel t4t i found out i was pregnant again 2 wks ago after having a missed m/c in oct last year, went for scan at 13wks but baby died at 9wks.
I am totally paranoid this time i keep waking in the night and checking if i'm bleeding. Had a scan on monday and they said baby had a strong heart beat which is a good sign but still hasn't stopped me worrying.I remember last time i got to 10wks and thought i just dont feel pregnant anymore but just thought i was being paranoid, now i'm the same constantly asking myself do i still feel v.tired, are my boobs sore(mine dont feel that bad)etc etc, and i still have to wait 6 more wks till the next scan!!its good that we are can put all our worries om mn otherwise i'd be driving myself completely insane!!!!!

spub · 28/06/2006 18:18

FN - Thanks, chuck.
Hope you're doing ok?

spub · 28/06/2006 18:19

FN - Thanks, chuck.
Hope you're doing ok?

ProfYaffle · 28/06/2006 19:18

Thanks Spub. Good luck for Friday, have you had a c/s before or is this your first?

SnowBoo · 28/06/2006 20:51

Spub, good luck for Friday.

I'm having some real issues with my hosp bag. Am very short of money so everything i look at seems really expensive. Moaning about paying £6.99 for two pram sheets....Is that a good deal? ALso, do i really need nursing pj's or will front opening from Matalan be the same?? Am very confused this time round. Very indecisive.

Was ds's last day at nursery today. Starts at school nursery on Monday so i was crying my eyes out when i collected him. God knows what they thought.

Also, am really worried about having a C-section. Might not even need one but just something else to panic about.

Will be 35 weeks on Friday and can't beleive i've made it nearly to the end!!!!

spub · 28/06/2006 21:08

Prof - thanks for the good wishes. This is my second baby but first section!
Snow - I think 6.99 for 2 sheets is an okay price. I would deffo just buy cheapie front opening nighties (Primark have front buttoning nightshirts for £3). TBH you may want to bin stuff afterwards as it MAY get stained and it will certainly get sweaty!
Also, I'd seriously not worry about a section.First, you may not even need one! Second, I've been hugely reasured by the advice and info from people on here who've had them.I think you can have a tricky birth however you do it but the main thing is to keep an open mind and that at the end of the day you and the baby are okay.
Best wishes.

time4tea · 28/06/2006 22:04

Spub and Snowboo, I had an elective CS with my DS (he was in breech) and I found it fine, obviously you need to take things easy and not put strain on your tummy afterwards, and it can be a pain staying in hospital for a couple of days, but I found the CS delivery really calm, and the morphine for painkilling afterwards kept me extremely relaxed while with it! There was a threat recently about things to bring in for a CS stay, but I was really glad I had: plastic flipflops, disinfectant wipes for the loo etc (I thought this sounded neurotic but was glad of it) and a water spray to help you feel reasonably fresh (Evian do small ones for a couple of quid) while you are stuck in bed the first day or so. I agree about pjs etc getting stained and nasty. Go for the cheapest you can get. Having a few changes is also good, it is easy to feel really smeggy and uncomfortable in hospitals - they are so hot.
Good luck to you both XXX

Arabica · 28/06/2006 22:12

Try not to worry SnowBoo, C-sections really aren't bad (not that I have had a vaginal birth to compare it with). Re stuff to take, I will be bringing 5 or 6 complete changes of PJ/nightshirt as that was what I needed last time and at least 2 nursing bras, which you can wash in the sink if needs be! However part of me still in denial about having the baby--am worried about the scan I'm having next week.
