Thanks Gizmo, been wondering how you were doing! Still want to do FLM next year? I'm determined to get my running shoes back on asap after the birth. Luckily I have already experienced the claustrophobic joys of MRI so am prepared for what's in store. I hear the fetal ones aren't so bad as your head isn't enclosed in the tube.
Obviously they could still find something drastically wrong though, so I don't want to kid myself.

HellKat · 13/05/2006 07:41

Morning all.
Diddle- He had a great day. the cake cames out nicer than I expected too! Was totally gorgeous & very indulgent!! White & dark chocolate torte with dark chocolate glazing & white chocolate drizzle Grin. I'm getting pretty good at this cake making lark Wink

Hope everyone has a great day/weekend. xxxx

diddle · 13/05/2006 10:28

morning!!!

HK i managed to bake myself a cake too, nothing anywhere near as fancy as yours, just made a victora sponge with chocolate sprinkles and a few cherries thrown in that i found. Tastes good though, so good that its almost gone Grin
Have eaten half a pineapple this morning, maybe it will have some effect on my body, feeling so uncomfortable right now, and would love baby to come now i know it would survive at this stage. Have no idea what the pineapple is meant to do but the midwife suggested i start having it. anyone know why??

Gizmo · 13/05/2006 16:53

Afternoon, I'm doing fine, thanks, Arabica; have very dull pregnancy basically, so can never think of anything to add to this thread! Still it is cheering to see Petunia and Cori graduate and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else.

At the moment just about managing the odd short run but getting increasingly breathless so it may be time to call an end to the running for a while and find something a bit more traditionally antenatal. Think I'll run/walk our local Race For Life then stick to the yoga and swimming for a few months.

Kind of looking forward to FLM but also have a bit of the fear, because I'm just remembering what it's like to have a newborn in the house (it's been a long time!) and not sure if combining that with marathon training isn't just utter madness.

Anyway, I'm liking the sound of the baking, by the way...I think I might just have to go and buy some butter...

HellKat · 13/05/2006 16:59

Diddle- Sounds yummy! I think it's meant to induce labour but apparently you're meant to have at least 6 whole fresh pineapples for it to work!!!!!

diddle · 13/05/2006 17:42

Shock six Shock well maybe if i have one a day then i'll be having baby in a week.

Wills · 13/05/2006 20:24

six? In one day? I've been doing about half a day for about 2 days now and about to have another half tonight Grin. Have had another bleed but this time it was old blood. Haven't gone in - just spoke on the phone and they're not convinced it wasn't a show but who knows? I'm finding the dramatics a little hard to handle. If I phone the delivery suite their immeidate response is come in - but actually its not that easy with two little girls in tow. Today.... We have made love, I've drunk raspberry tea, played a funny game of badminton (i.e. knocking a shuttle cock around in a garden) and eaten a curry and am about to eat a pineapple. Me thinks little one isn't ready yet Grin. I'm also still scared. The hospital scared me a lot and I think hormones at this end of the pregnancy don't help either. Still my midwife is now coming to see me daily - bless her.

God the chocolate cake sounds like something to disappear into. mmmmmmmm.

diddle · 14/05/2006 11:04

wills - Don't be scared, little one will come when its ready. I would keep a huge eye on your symptoms and if you really need to go in then you must go, your little girls will have to be cared for by someone else for a few hours, this is so important, although i know how disheartening it must be to be sent home after rushing in there.
You'll be ok Wills, and if you're at all worried about baby get your bum down to maternity. Do you have a doppler?? then you can check baby yourself as well.

Arabica · 14/05/2006 12:28

I absolutely love pineapple but I don't think even I could manage 6 in one day! Luckily I won't have to as I will be having a C-section, although whether that's at 39, 38 or even 36 weeks depends on the outcome of my MRI and other tests (I think if the baby's going to need a shunt operation to remove excess brain fluid immediately after birth they offer to deliver you early--but am trying not to dwell on that).
Having a quiet weekend, supposed to be working but have one of those kneel-up office chairs and it's playing havoc with my swollen ankles. We've got rid of all our other chairs because we'll be buying new ones once the kitchen is finally finished (in about 2009). So, can only work for an hour at a time!
Thinking of you all especially Wills. If you are feeling anxious and worried about how the baby's doing, I have found the homeopathic remedy aconite v helpful. You can get it in any healthfood shop/chemist. Just keep taking them every hour, they can't do you any harm.

Wills · 14/05/2006 20:27

Many thanks Diddle and Arabica. I've had my mil down today and she's basically my replacement mum. She's hoping to come again either Tuesday or Wednesday (its an hour's drive and FIL is not wonderful at driving.....). She's spent the day running around getting things sorted. We've now emptied the spare room of all the baby stuff and got it sorted into piles ready to do stuff i.e. bottles etc for dishwasher, bouncy chair for miltoning etc etc. The spare room's bed is made up so that if we can find someone who can come during the night if things don't go too fast they can at least kip somewhere. She's taken a black sac of clothes that my cousin's given me to iron and return (they're 0-6 months and gorgeous stuff). The newborn clothes are sorted and put away. The girls were played with, the garden partially weeded, the dh reminded to take care of me Grin. Wish she lived next door!

Had another bleed again today Sad. But only a very small amount and again brown (if red am supposed to phone hospital). I'm in a quandry and want to know what you would do.... When I gave birth to dd2 I had thrush and we ended up with breast feeding thrush which meant I suffered with mastitus for 10 months until I finally gave up. You'll understand why I keen to not have a repeat performance. The problem is that my m/w has suggested that I don't have hot baths any more (she's the only one to make this suggestion but I like her perspective). My womb is probably just starting to leak (a tiny tiny amount) hence the blood. She therefore doesn't like me taking a bath as the environment is no longer sealed. Should I use the canestan pessary?

Another question.... HOpe this isn't tmi. If you felt that an orgasm initiated the first bleed, would you do it again? I go round in circles on this one. One thought is that it will be too much etc and my placenta would seirously abrupt and it will all go pear shaped. On the other hand I may well end up in a situation where they have to induce me which will use the same stuff found in a mans you know what and put me into contractions which is the same blooming thing (just not as enjoyable Grin). So.....

Arabica. Am sending dh tomorrow for it as he works near a health food shop. Many thanks for the suggestion.

Diddle - how's maternity leave feel then?

Arabica · 14/05/2006 22:22

Wills, I can't answer your questions about what to do but am bumping in case one of the Mn midwives logs on. I don't suppose your MIL fancies coming to NLondon to be my substitute mum too? My own mum is quite an interesting character but completely hopeless at anything to do with mothering/babies.

mygirllolipop · 15/05/2006 08:35

Wills -yr MIL sounds wonderful, would love someone to come and do all that for me. I swear when I go back to work if we earn enough I will get someone in to do the housework!
I wouldn't use the canestan (sp?) or have sex tbh. If yr womb is opening then I wouldn't want chemicals or sperm getting to baby. And as for orgasm if you think that's what has caused the bleed (which I also am inclined to believe) and they don't know the cause of bleeding but think yr womb is opening then I wouldn't risk it, but then again ask me that when I'm nearly due and feel huge and desperate to get the baby out!
Hope everyone is well.

HellKat · 15/05/2006 09:34

Morning all.
How's everyone?
It's official! I'm now well & truly a heifer!!!!
I braved the scales last night & to my Shock I've gained 24lbs so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear after babba's born I'm hitting the slimfast shakes again Wink.
Hope everyone has a great day x

Wills · 15/05/2006 09:51

Pah HK, your still just a calf! 32 lbs and still piling.

HellKat · 15/05/2006 09:53

Wills- Thanks hun! Feel better now lol Wink. I gained over 5 stone with ds1 and only 28 lbs with ds2. Weird how each pg is different.

Wills · 15/05/2006 10:10

Don't know what I gained with dd1 but with dd2 had gained 42 by this point so am reasonably pleased. However for some reason I put most of my weight on AFTER little one is born. I loose it during BFing. I start to find bags of sugar attractive.

SnowBoo · 15/05/2006 10:33

I haven't gained weight since i last saw the dr over 6 weeks ago! Look like an elephant so a bit confused.....

Have another scan tomorrow to check his size and that all is ok. I'm already soo uncomfortable and dh and i are arguing over any and everything which is making me miserable. Why does everything go pear shaped when you are supposed to take it easy and relax???? Nevermind, hopefully once baby is here dh will calm down and start being a bit nicer to me. Or maybe its the hormones. Hmmmm. Well, i have been crying at adverts now Blush. And he is trying so hard to give up smoking! Bad timing i guess.

HellKat · 15/05/2006 10:37

Snow- Understand totally!! Dp & I have'nt been arguing as such, more like constant bitching & sniping at each other. I know I'm a hormonal wreck at the mo (which does'nt help). I find myself doing way too much then regretting it. Ohhhhh to be as pampered and look after and not allowed to do one single thing, like they are in films Grin

mygirllolipop · 15/05/2006 10:51

In honour of HK I have braved the scales also to be told I am 3lb lighter than pre-pg. I know this will change v soon as I am still only 14wks!

SnowBoo · 15/05/2006 11:45

Oh gosh, if it were like the films, i'd look gorgeous with a perfect bump and no dark rings under my eyes. Also getting the vomity feeling back, think this could be stress and tiredness!

Maybe treat myself to another shower with my new sweet smelling Dove soap. Have i lost it???? Yep.

Wills · 15/05/2006 12:59

I was at a farm last year when this pregnant woman walked past. Definitely 3rd trimester but after that couldn't be more precise. BUT.... definnitely Italian and was dressed all in black with a perfectly coordinated necklace and looked just like she'd stepped out of an advert for her clothing. God - to look like that.

slinkstah · 15/05/2006 13:46

hiya everyone:) hope all had a good weekend
wills - i would ask midwife about the pessary, as might be better to treat before birth although if theres risk of infection might not be best to treat.
ask about the orgasm thing too, maybe having orgasm will start labour off for you.

snowboo, know the feeling about dh's, i had blumin nightmare argument last night with dp and windows and doors were open so im sure the whole street heardBlush
why the hell does he cause arguments and stress to me when i am bloody 8 months pg!

people keep stopping me in street and asking me when i am due and when i say in 6 weeks they are gobsmacked and say you look like your ready to pop now!
so must be humungous!
i have not put on any noticeable extra weight although have actually put on 2 and a half stone.

oinker · 15/05/2006 15:36

OP posts:
mygirllolipop · 15/05/2006 16:11

Hi Oinker - how are you babe, well as can be I hope. Yep weight loss due to not feeling like eating, throwing it up and DD3 feeding off me as well as no4 being a parasite (in the nicest poss way!).
Although I don't think all my sickness has been down to pg. DD2 has just been sent home from school AGAIN for being sick! Me and DD3 were sick on Sat and DH and DD1 said they weren't feeling too great Fri/Sat. Why is it always my kids that get sick?

SnowBoo · 15/05/2006 16:26

Well now found out am not entitled to SMP because of stupid employer! Wouldn't mind but i work dh and his partner. We told him straight away i was pg, he told us he would deal with it but as he has been refusing to pay me now i have to claim MA and fill in loads of bloody forms! Dh is now going mental at him.

Ah well, dh bought me a big bag of Maltesers and they are YUMMY. At least thats something good for today.
