Wow, so much has happened on here since I was last on.

Congratulations Cori - Fantastic news....can't wait to see a picture.

Wills - You must have been so frightened when the bleeding started...I'm pleased that things have calmed down a bit for you....Although it does sound like things could be starting....

Snowboo - just caught up on all the sister-in-law stuff. What a madam. Glad that you were armed with facts about the deposit - that must have taken the wind right out of her sails....

Arabica - Wishing you all the very bestg with your scan today. I really hope you get good news.

diddle · 11/05/2006 12:38

wills - could happen any day now then really, fantastic. If anything else happens and you're concerned, just call them, you are the number one priority and baby of course, don't feel liek you can't call.
The parents took the letter much better than expected and totally agreed i should stop, plus they all said how pleased with me they were that i had managed this far with such a physical job. Made me feel great.

Although your mom sounds like a nightmare I think i would rather have one than not. It doesn't sound like something that she is very in control of. I can't help feeling a little sorry for her that she can't support you, and maybe she might want to deep down. I can also totally understand your major frustration and total need for support right now, with all that is happening in your life. Sounds like DH is an absolute star though, you're very lucky.

slinkstah · 11/05/2006 12:53

diddle- yes in your case im unsure what the stabbing pains could be, i have never had them in any other pg, get them checked out if they get worse or more often. i bet your cervix is ripening up,omg you are 36 weeks today you have only got 1 week till term-whooooooo

i am 34 weeks today and am going to stop counting the days, i have been climbing a mountain day by day since my stitch at 23 weeks and now my next milestone is my stitch removal, can't beleive ive almost made it! im going to try and keep the anxiety at bay this week and try and enjoy the time i have left.

twocats - when are you getting married? ive had to go out and buy new maternity wear recently as all my 20+ week stuff didn't fit for 30+ anyone else had that prob? thank god for h&m tops.

wills- you cervix checker you! seems amazing some of us have gone from boob bashers to cervix checkers lol
i dont have the best relationship with my mum either and rarely see her, dp gets all the hormonal stuff.

arabica- good luck hun thinking of you.

diddle · 11/05/2006 13:02

wow slink 34 wks, not long now!!!
Yeh i've had to buy more maternity clothes, which infuriates me because its such a waste of money.

slinkstah · 11/05/2006 13:38

i agree, but you might have another:)

Wills · 11/05/2006 18:08

Well my midwife was wonderful - knew she would be. Can't understand why I wasn't induced. Completely understands why I'm so nervous given all the information I was given and lack of explanation. Considers me high risk and is angry that I'm not seeing the consultant until next thursday so is coming to see me Saturday and Tuesday as she doesn't think its acceptable to wait that long. I've been told NO hot baths but .... plenty of love making, plenty of raspberry leaf tea, plenty of fresh pineapple and here's the bestest bit..... A glass of chardonnay every night to calm me down and make me relax. Grin - baby's formed so as far as she's concerned - chill honey. God but she's great and she's one of the reasons we haven't moved to the new house yet. She has told me however that any more bh's that don't get resolved via a glass of wine, a sit down and a paracetamol should be taken into the delivery suite - don't ask them (she said) just tell them you're coming.

petunia · 11/05/2006 18:34

congratulations Cori.

Looks like there are several of you who will be joining Cori and I in "one hand typing" (like I am at the moment!) on a post-natal thread soon.

Arabica · 11/05/2006 20:22

Hi everyone, here is what happened at my scan.

I had a very detailed (70 minutes!) scan today at the Birthright Centre (after a 3hr wait). Basically they can't see anything wrong except for the excess fluid--and the bit of brain that is sometimes missing in these cases is definitely present. So they want me to come back for an MRI to check that there is nothing structurally wrong with the brain itself, eg as a result of a bleed or some other blockage. Have been warned that there is a 40-50% risk of developmental delay because the amount of fluid is in the severe category. Was asked if I would consider termination. I was quite shocked to be asked this as so far there is absolutely no proof that anything is wrong with the baby. So I said no. I would have said no to further scanning but they said it was a good idea in case there is something they need to be prepared for immediately after the birth, eg if the baby has hydrocephalus they would need to perform an op immediately after birth to drain the fluid off.

So, am feeling a bit more positive--at least the baby looks normal so far and they seemed fairly positive that they were expecting the MRI to be normal. I will probably need 2 MRI scans, one now and one at 32 wks to check cerebral cortex has properly developed.

Wills · 11/05/2006 20:27

So fairly positive news. I am relieved for you. When are the dates?

PinkKerPlink · 11/05/2006 20:30

wills i am sorry to be obsecure but are you moving to thanetShock?
and are you preg

i am fio2 btw

SnowBoo · 11/05/2006 20:31

Sounds like most people have a sister-outlaw. I like that one! She tried winding me up today, gave her the facts, now she is crawling! I think the law should be changed so sisters get to choose their bros future wife.

SnowBoo · 11/05/2006 20:34

Arabica, glad you've had a bit more news on the positive side. Just hope it all works out good in the end.

Wills · 11/05/2006 20:35

Hi ya fio2 and yes. We've bought a house in Ramsgate (Dumpton Park to be precise) and can't wait to move.

twocatsonthebed · 11/05/2006 22:47

Arabica- that does seem a bit more positive, with a more than 50% chance that it's OK, and there is time for things to change. How many weeks are you now?

Wills - thanks for those links, they both look great. I may hotfoot off down to Hampshire to look at the hire dresses quite soon! Wedding's at the start of July, so I will be 25 weeks. Hope you're out of maternity clothes soon - and can I have your midwife when you're done? She sounds fab!

And Snowboo- love the idea that we get to choose our brothers' other halves - I'd go for the really nice girlfriend, that he dumped for this arsey one. Whole family still haven't got their heads round that!

slinkstah · 12/05/2006 00:07

arabica- thats great news it looks so far that its nothing too serious. am quite shocked they offered termination as you are well over the 24 weeks thing. i agree with the further investigations though just in case like you say baby needing any treatment after birth. how are you coping with all this?

twocats- 25 weeks is a good time to get married, bump not too big and hopefully enough energy to enjoy your big day well into the nightGrin
hows the preparations going?

wills glad your ok and nice midwife put your mind at rest a bit. hope we see babywills soon our 3rd baby of the thread, unless diddles BH don't calm down lol

Arabica · 12/05/2006 08:16

I suppose they mentioned termination because there is quite a high chance of developmental delay, plus the MRI could find something drastically wrong with the brain. But it did seem a bit crazy when they also told me that if it is just the fluid then they can't say what the extent of developmental delay might be, baby could be 100% normal.
Baby refused to lie in easy position for them to scan, am proud of him/her for being so assertive! All the prodding made me really sore.

Arabica · 12/05/2006 08:17

By the way i don't feel too bad, in fact I feel more positive and stronger than I have for ages and have even been getting lots of kicks which is really nice.

wools · 12/05/2006 08:18

Arabica - The scan sounds positive - as you say they haven't actually found anything wrong except the excess fluid which is something they can deal with once the baby is born. Ditto the 40-50% chance of development delay - again something that can be dealt with if necessary. At least, with your extra scans everybody will be fully prepared. I'm glad you're feeling better about things. Try and have a relaxing weekend and take things easy.

Wills - Your midwife sounds lovely...thank goodness she is on your side.

diddle · 12/05/2006 08:19

Arabica - sounds very positive, i'm sso glad they're looking after you and keeping an eye on you and baby.

Wills - Your midwife sounds fantastic, you're very lucky. Love the chardonnay suggeston, fancy a glass of that myself.

Morning to everyone else, its a gorgeous morning here in the w.mids. hope it stays that way.
Last day of work today - woohoo Grin I can't wait, although i can see some serious nesting coming along next week, i am already making a mental list of what needs doing. At least I can go at a slower pace.

I am very proud of myself, i have managed to get into my pre-pregnancy linen trousers. well sort of, As i no longer have a waist i can't do then up, but i've put my belly band over the waist and its holding them up Grin they're so comfy on these hots days esp as i only fit in joggers otherwise and they're just boiling.

PinkKerPlink · 12/05/2006 08:20

oh wills, i love ramsgate:) please email me and tell me all the details

HellKat · 12/05/2006 08:35

Morning all.
Arabica- congrats hun!! Wonderful news. Worse case scenario and baby has developmental delay, it could be alot worse and hydrocephalus, well they can pop a shunt into lo to drain the excess. Sorry if I sound pretty upbeat but hun the way i see every situation is there's always someone a million times worse off (that mantra has seen me through some really crappy times) and as long as you have support around, you'll do just fine. I bet you were so relieved after the scan. So pleased for you xxxxxxxxxxxx
Diddle- wahooooo no more work!!!!!! Gorgeous here too today.

Yet another night with about 3 hrs sleep Angry bloody nonsense dreams lol. I'm going to try and grab a nap later, then clean & bake ds1's cake. So far he's having a bit of a pants birthday. Woke up nose & eyes streaming with bad hayfever so letting him stay off, getting honey into him and made sure he took his antihistimine.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

diddle · 12/05/2006 09:18

Happy Birthday to DS1 Hellkat - hope his day improves, quite fancy baking something today too, think i'll check the cupboards for ingredients befor ei get my hopes up. Got to wait in for a parcel so can't go out. Going to enjoy my last morning with my little toddler, it will be odd not having him here next week to make me Grin

mygirllolipop · 12/05/2006 09:23

Wills - sorry you're having such a terrible time. What's the latest?
SnowBoo -I agree lose it with her and feel better!
Cori - congrats my love, hope all of you are doing well.
2cats- there are a few maternity shops that have wedding dresses, try thematernityexchange.co.uk or is that com?
arabica- glad there's more than half chane the baby is fine, and that all could be just perfek (Darling Buds of May style)
Diddle - last day of work - woohoo!

Gizmo · 12/05/2006 11:36

Arabica - have been lurking and I'm really relieved things sound tentatively positive. At the worst, 'Developmental delay' covers such a wide range of outcomes that it might just mean being 3/4 months behind peers.

Hope your MRIs give you some more information - but be prepared for a noisy, claustrophobic experience.
