Hi all.

Cori - good luck. Little one could engage at any time.

I'm 2 weeks 3 days behind Cori but little one is not engaged either and spoke to midwife about going to 42 weeks. She said it was standard but if the baby's head's engaged at 41 they'll do a sweep. BP starting to rise but absolutely nowhere near what happened during dd2's pregnancy so I don't think i've got anything to wrory about and just have to put up with another 4 weeks 3 days instead of 2 weeks Grin. So looks like this one's going to be a June baby rather than a May one.

The washing machine at the house we're renting broke a few weeks back and I've been fighting with the landlord to get him to replace it which will finally happen on Saturday. In the meantime I've been taking washing over to friends or down to the Ramsgate house. One of my closest friends offered to do loads so I gave her the baby's bedding. Included in their was the hand crocheted shawl that had been made for me when I was a baby and that I had used for both girls, another shawl knitted for dd2 and a stuning pram blanket knitted for dd1. She put them on a boil wash Sad which has turned them basically into string vests. She hasn't noticed anything is wrong and i would never tell her as her friendship ultimately is far more important to me and she was trying to help me out but I'm gutted. I wish I'd kept them to do myself. They felt like heirlooms. The fact that one had been mine as a baby and I would have given to one of my daughters has left me sobbing. I know they're only material things but its really really hit me hard and I'm incredibly blue.

sorry - but had to share it with someone - hope you don't mind.

diddle · 05/05/2006 07:46

aww Wills - i sort of know the feeling, we have a family shawl that was made for me when i was a baby, and used on my sister too, then it was passed to my cousin who was the last to have it. My aunty has lost it!! can't find it anywhere. I am very sentimental and would never lose anything like that and am totally gutted that our baby won't get to use it.
But you're right, your friendship is more important and i bet she'd be just as gutted if she'd have realised.

HellKat · 05/05/2006 08:01

Grrrrr wrote huge long message and poxy comp wiped it Angry
Anyhoo, morning my lovelies!!!!!
Wills- I would've been devastated too hun. Sentimental things are so precious. Poor you. x

How's everyone today? Is'nt it gorgeous? Just got out 2nd load of wash in the garden, taken rubbish out & got hoovering done. All before 8am Grin

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! xxxxxxxxxxxx

diddle · 05/05/2006 08:03

you're so organised HK - got my washing on too.

How you feeling hun? hows baby?

HellKat · 05/05/2006 08:07

I'm great thanks sweety and you?
Baby is great! Proper little wriggler. I wondered why I could feel double kicks etc and on the scan it showed little one kicking & punching me. Lovely Grin. The last couple of weeks I've got so big, I look like a pg gorilla lol. Huge bump, gigantic boobs resting on it lol.

diddle · 05/05/2006 09:07

Grin sounds familiar, i feel like that too, you wait until you're 35 wks you won't believe how big you've got. are you taking pics of your bump at different stages?

Wills · 05/05/2006 09:17

Boobs - Don't talk to me about boobs! Its the way their perched on the bump Grin. Woken up determined to feel better. The weather's gorgeous, I'm not at work and my girls are beautiful.

HK - I'm knackered just reading your posts. Your making me jealous. I crawl out of bed in a kind of bedraggled daze, and have to spend approximately the first 30 minutes trying to get my back moving so I can walk. All this talk of loads of washing leavees me sobbing. Mind you its not like I have a washing machine to do washing with.

Diddle how the heck do you cope with all those children. My admiration - you have it!

Morning all.

twocatsonthebed · 05/05/2006 09:23

Morning all, how's it going?

Arabica - really sorry that you've now got even more stress, but I second everyone who says go with your gut feeling. You do know, and stick with that. Have you got an appointment yet?

Wills- poor you. You must be heartbroken - and I would have been too.

Cori - any developments?!

and Slink, good luck with the counselling. Hopefully it will mean that what happened last time won't be hanging over you as you get closer to the birth.

HK, glad the scan was good, even though you've still got a surprise to come.

I am still feeling sick (?!) even though I made it to fourteen weeks yesterday (yay!) and very much looking forward to getting my energy back, not least because we've still got a wedding and honeymoon to organise before anything else happens...

diddle · 05/05/2006 09:37

thanks wills, not sure how i manage the children really, i can feel myself slowing down now though. its more a case of organisation, i know i need to leave plenty of time to get them and myself ready for things.

desperatehousewife · 05/05/2006 10:56

twocats - sorry you're still feeling sick - how gutting. I'm 13+4 now and have to say feeling quite 'normal' again which is big relief.

Had my nuchal scan yesterday - at King's (cos they don't offer it at Brighton hosp) had to sit in that tiny, hot room (literally about 100 degrees) with no window, no air conditioning for 3 and a half hours til we were seen. I just don't know why they bother having appointment times if they are going to run over that much.

But they were amazing when I got in there because they took 1.5 hours over the scan. Everything absolutely fine - I cannot tell you how relieved i was - I was absolutely convinced they were going to tell me the baby was dead or that there was something terribly wrong with it.

Am feeling a bit dazed today - as we didn't end up getting back to Brighton and home til nearly midnight!

I'm off on hols for 2 weeks on Sunday - so I wish you all really really well. Hope those babies make an appearance soon - will be thinking of you - good luck!

Take care everyone - lots of love to you all
DHWx

twocatsonthebed · 05/05/2006 10:59

DHW - that's great news about the scan, even if it did take all day. And I know just what you mean about assuming the worst - I was just the same when I had mine done, and so, so relieved when it was OK. Have a fantastic holiday!

cori · 05/05/2006 11:37

Hi, great news about your scan DHW. Have a nice holiday, You will be seeing a baby announcement by the time you get back.

Nothing new happening today. Felt few achey contractions this morning, then nothing. Am feeling hot, bothered an enormous. I have no summer clothes that fit. Woke up at 5.15 am again this morning. SO I am off to have a nap now.
Have started to focus on Wednesday the 10th as due date now, as at least I know baby will be born on that date.

oinker · 05/05/2006 12:50

Good Afternoon All!!

Not much action on here today.

Bet you are all outside bronzing those bumps. Grin

I have done some gardening. It's starting to look fab. Going to have a BBQ tonight. Smile
Will sit outside watching DH drinking his cold beers. I'll be on the orange juice!!

Go to collect the SKIDS later. They are here for the weekend. Will have to put up with their mood swings and grumpiness. I LOVE TEENAGERS!!!!

Wills · 05/05/2006 16:02

Cori, There's more and more evidence showing that the original set of dates they use are wrong. Sooo many women go overdue that they've relooked at them. Whereas the traditional approach is 280 days after the first day of your last period they're now proposing to say that its 283. This then needs to be balanced with when you ovulate. I ovulate late i.e. around day 12/13. Therefore although I'm due (using the 280 rule) on the 22nd May it looks as though closer to truth would be another 8 (5 + 3) days on so that would be 30th May. Soooo maybe those achey contractions are your body starting to gear up. Getting walking girl and errrmm loads of passion with the dh.

Hi all, had scan was great, baby was sucking thumb and holding it's hands together! Had a trainee radiographer in too so she spend a bit more time on me than usual. Have emailled photo to the grandparents etc! Feeling more positive about the pg now.

slinkstah · 05/05/2006 16:40

dhw- have a fab holiday :)

hope everyone else is ok

not long now cori:)

congrats on the scan mygirl - how lovely seeing baby suck his thumb :)

i had my antenatal today, hopefully last one from drs as midwifes should take my care from next week.
silly dr wrote in my notes "against my recomendation for homebirth" so you know what im gonna do with that page- rip it right out! if the midwifes saw that then i would be back to square 1 again.
anyway best news is baby is back to head down so i can stop panicing a bit. I am also measuring 36 cm - i am 33 weeks is this a big un or what.

FirstNikki · 05/05/2006 16:57

mygirllolipop · 06/05/2006 15:43

Thanks HK how are you?
Slink - you are right there'll be loads in the land of post-natal soon. Not me tho not for another 6 months!

Wills · 06/05/2006 19:43

Pet - Ahhhhh - beautiful.

Mygirl and dhw - glad the scan's went well.

Hmmmm - Cori's remarkably quiet! Cori????

I've suddenly got scared. Little one isn't moving as much and I'm suddenly scared that having got this far that its all going to go wrong at the last minute. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and really should be focusing on enjoying the peace and quiet instead of worrying. Went for a 2 mile walk today with dh and both girls and it was lovely. We've been trying to give dd1 a little bit of a nature lesson but I'm not sure how much went in. Apart from that all is well - well apart from the lack of movements.... He is moving - just not a lot.
