Bargain baby thread

Following on from the brilliant Christmas bargain threads, is there anything similar for baby stuff? I was thinking somewhere we could share info on where we have had a special deal or bargain that may help others. Maybe a certain shop with nappies on offer, a sale on high chairs etc. Is there a need?

I would appreciate it. Trying to keep to a tight budget for baby number one.

Asda baby club sent me a leaflet today that their baby event starts on the 17th jan online and I think the 21st in store.

www.adenandanais.co.uk/shop/musy.aspx -these look lovely but are pricey, so I have bought very similar ones from Sainsbury for a third of the cost!

amazon family is great, send me lots of vouchers codes, I signed up and paid for the prime and they have sent me lots of money off vouchers too, I got a full closer to nature tommee tippee starter set for £16. Definitely worth signing up to. Bounty emails are good too, lots of offers.

How often do the supermarkets do baby events? I'm due in June thinkits a bit early to buy some things but don't want to miss a bargain.

PinglePongle · 11/01/2013 21:00

JollyToddles · 11/01/2013 21:01

Both Tesco and Sainsburys sell cheap white babygros and vests :)

rainand · 11/01/2013 21:11

PinglePongle, thanks so much! They've got them in the http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=1500002951&langId=110&productId=596634 argos store too at that price, I've just reserved one from my local argos, and I'm so chuffed! :)

My local TKMaxx has the Aden and Anais muslim swaddles for just £16 or £18, original price is £44.95 on the website: www.adenandanais.co.uk/shop/itemdisplay.aspx?ID=19&SKU=2024

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 11/01/2013 21:14

Don't spend more than a pound a pack on baby wipes! a shop will always be selling PAmpers, Johnsons or Huggies wipes for £1.

I have the aden an anais giant muslins for swaddling and they have been well used. Found out a month ago that TK MAxx sell them cheap!

Will keep my eyes peeled

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 11/01/2013 21:14

ooh xpost!

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 11/01/2013 21:16

Does anyone know when the tesco baby event is happening?

Oodhousekeeping · 11/01/2013 21:18

Buy wipes in packs of 8/12 much cheaper. Supermarket own ones are fine. Though we just used cotton wool for first year.

rainand · 11/01/2013 21:19

Which brand of wipes would you folks recommend?

ladymia · 11/01/2013 21:21

Asda has a baby event that starts on the 17th of Jan, i got a pamphlet in the mail today.

Oodhousekeeping · 11/01/2013 21:21

Tesco/asda own brand unscented is what we usually buy. Don't like higgies

rainand · 11/01/2013 21:24

What does a baby event mean?

rainand · 11/01/2013 21:25

Oddhousekeeping, thanks, what's the benefit of unscented? Is it chemical free?

ladymia · 11/01/2013 21:27

like a sale :)

GreatSoprendo · 11/01/2013 21:30

I got he Asda leaflet today too - looks like some good deals.

There were some good bargains in TK Maxx last weekend who seemed to have a lot of new baby stock in - thread here

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 11/01/2013 21:31

Tescos baby event is on now till the 11th of feb if I remember correctly.

I don't like Huggies wipes either and I've stuck with pampers sensitive when I can get them for less than £1 a pack. I stock up when anyone's selling the 12 pack for £10

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 11/01/2013 21:34

I dont like Huggies either. I like Johnsons. I also never did cotton wool Blush

Blending · 11/01/2013 21:39

Home and Bargains have loads in store, and a few bits cheap on line.

For example Pampers baby wipes 99p, The Tommee Tippee Anti-Colic Bottle Feeding Starter Kit £12.99

In store I get sudocreme, calpol etc alot cheaper than the supermarket.

Home Bargains clicky here

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 11/01/2013 21:43

My local POundland has single pairs of Trumpettes socks in. Their stacking cups are also dds favourite toy.
