Think I am miscarrying hand holding please

Hi, I know its early but I just woke about an hour ago to a trickle of bright red blood, went and had a wee and a clot about the size of a golf ball came out, followed by more red blood, I checked clot and it doesnt look like a fetus, just a clot. im 9.5 weeks and dont know where to turn to at this hour.

Can I second Olmpic's advice. Please, please call your local Early Pregnancy Unit tomorrow morning and get a scan. You shouldn't have to wait until Monday.

hi again, Im a bit confused as I have had no more bleeding? Does this maybe mean I havent miscarried or that it is taking a while? Does anyone have any experience with this. I have had miscarriages in the past and I bled for ages. I dont want to hope but I am so much, I really wanted this baby xx

Very hard to tell, the clot you lost could have been most if it, or you could just be having a pregnancy with bleeding. Sadly without a scan no-one can tell.

I think you should ring your EPU if possible, they can maybe bring you in for a scan today, waiting will be horrendous over the weekend. Hugs for you & handholding. I had a miscarriage in 2011, & had to have 2 scans a week apart to confirm, it was awful.

Hi greenj, hugs and sympathy for what you're going through. I think it is a cruel aspect of pregnancy that you can do nothing about this (except take it easy). I was through what you are going through twice. The first time my gp checked me out and sympathised but said I had most likely mc'd and booked me in for a d&c. 24 hours later I was told that my baby was still alive (and is now a healthy 10 year old), the second time we were not so lucky but because of my prior experience I thought it was the same thing and the baby would be fine. Thing is I did nothing different. It is so hard to sit there thinking the worst is happening but unable to prevent it but at least a scan will help to ease your anxiety so do your best to get one as even though there is nothing the epu can do either it might be the reassurance you need to help you through the next few days. I tried, they really brushed me of so I guess I will have to wait til monday. I just want to know one way or another now, The not knowing is so bad, The midwife was very sure I had miscarried but that was over the phone?! Now I have my hopes up cos of no bleeding or pain. My best friend said dont give up hope but I think it will be worse if i hold on to false hope!!!! I know Im running on but have no one else I can really talk to who understands xx

Green...I've just gone through this...and got fobbed off a lot by the NHS...

Here's what happened.

Blood started pouring out of me with chopped liver clots on the 23rd...calmed right down within 45 minutes. Went to hospital. Told me I'd probably miscarried and to come back on Thursday after Xmas.

Xmas eve - a second major bleed...had to sit on the loo for about an hour...then slowly tapered off over the week to brown sludge.

Was not in my local area when all this started so when I got back to Leicester on the Thursday I rang the EPAU and they fobbed me off again - told me I had to call a nd make an appointment with my DR.

I had a MW appointment on Monday this week anyway and still had the brown sludge going on. MW got me in for the Thursday (yesterday)

Tuesday eening/Wednesday morning had more bright red blood but no clots and although a fair amount, nowhere near as bad as the previous two episodes. All through this time I've been having minor niggles but not full on cramps as I woud expect.

I went for my scan yesterday - the nurse at the EPAU was horrified that I'd been fobbed off so much and I should have marched into A+E. She was very doubtful there would be any baby.

I'm 12+4 and everything looks fine!!!!

I have a dark patch on the scan which they think is either a) a twin that has died or b) a haematoma (bit more scary but still not too much of a threat)

Don't lose hope and just go the A+E - don't let yourself go through what could be completely unnecessary hell.

Well it's been a stressful few days but I am counting down hrs til scan in the morning.I just need to know now, I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone x

Oh green so sorry to hear about this. I know from experience that the waiting is just awful. Glad it's not long til your scan now.

Ime mws aren't all that knowledgeable about early pg (unless they are specialists) I had a massive bleed and cramps at 10 weeks and a v senior mw told dh our baby was "already dead" - she was clearly wrong as he's currently reading me Horrid Henry.

Big hug and good luck for tomorrow - only a scan can tell you for sure.

green glad the wait is nearly over for you have you had any more loss or bleeding? If not and no pain that is a good sign good luck nd pop back with an update and I will think of you tomorrow.
