I seem to have filled up the old thread and thought I better start a new one! Grin Still got ages to go, don't leave me now...

Am currently sat waiting for my 16 week antenatal appt, been here an hour so far and just had BP done and that's it.

Thanks spotty, your ds's weights look pretty similar (real age-wise), so l feel reassured.

Wow hoping, sounds scary - bp could well be to blame, as spotty has said.

Hopingforno2 · 03/03/2013 08:21

Thanks diec it was havent had another episode since(touches wood) so off to work this morning as its my last shift then on holiday then mat leave anyway so just need to get thro today lol

dieciocho · 04/03/2013 10:44

Sorry rue, didn't see your offer of a photo. That'd be very helpful; PM me if you find one.
Wish us luck for tomorrow; it's the has-she/hasn't-she scan... poor little sausage. Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 04/03/2013 10:51

Ds has his follow up ECG today then appointment with specialist who looked after him in SCBU. Must. Not. Cry.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/03/2013 10:51

Ah diec she'll be fine Smile will she have to wear dresses all the time if she needs the brace? Sorry if that's a silly question Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 04/03/2013 16:40

All clear on the heart Smile

Diec ds has put on 1lb4oz in two weeks!

Hopingforno2 · 04/03/2013 17:18

Glad ur ds got on well spotty

How long do u ladies normally wait on results from eye screens? Had my follow up from dec today said she could see a cpl areas but couldnt say if it was same as last time or new/worse that the pics would be graded and compared so now waiting game

SpottyTeacakes · 04/03/2013 17:22

I think mines about two weeks

Hopingforno2 · 04/03/2013 19:22

Im hoping they are quick and/or i dont need any treatment as i go in for elcs in 4 weeks. Just hope things are at worst the same keep worrying about how awful it would be if i couldnt care for my ds and new baby due to needing treatment Sad

RueDeWakening · 04/03/2013 21:18

Hoping if they do detect changes that need treatment, the treatment initially is laser, it's done there and then in the specialist eye clinic and takes about 20-30 minutes IME. You get eye drops etc as normal then look are given different spots to look at while they get zapping away. It makes you jump a little and you might have to grit your teeth, but doesn't hurt overmuch - just expect your eyes to feel slightly hot/gritty/uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Paracetemol helps.

Have had extensive laser eye treatment and ops over the last 9 years or so and happy to elaborate if it would help.

OP posts:
Hopingforno2 · 04/03/2013 21:32

Thanks rue does the laser treatment stop it progressing then? U have made me feel a bit better to know theres sum1 thats been there i could talk to if i do need treatment. Has your sight been affected at all?

RueDeWakening · 04/03/2013 21:54

The laser makes the tiny extra blood vessels stop growing (in theory!). It worked for me for about 5 years, then I had a big bleed in one eye which didn't clear, then 3 years after that the other eye joined in.

I had an eye op called a vitrectomy on the first eye in 2007 (when DD was 6 months old), it was day surgery so didn't have to stay overnight. They basically clear the blood out from your eye, laser the retina more directly, refill the eye with saline and sew it all back up. Same op on the other eye a couple of years ago (when DS was a year old).

My eye stuff was made worse by a) going on the pump and getting a massive rapid improvement in HbA1C (eyes don't like change!), and pregnancy.

I lost my driving license for a year or so as a result of the bleeding, but have it back again now. Only long term effect I have is a reduced field of vision and an increased risk of cataracts in the future.

Great news spotty, so glad F's heart is ok. Wow, 1lb 4oz - he's a strong, healthy little man Smile

I hadn't thought about dresses - V hates anything that goes over her head!

I've got my eye appt. this Friday. Good luck with everything hoping.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 08:03

Hope the scan goes ok today diec Smile you can get loads of button up dresses if you need to. Ds did five hours last night and he's properly found his thumb. I remember when he cried all day, seems like ages ago now!

Hopingforno2 · 05/03/2013 08:53

Thanks rue im thinking next week earliest for results the rapid improvment in hba1c is what i think caused the initial changes and its come down a bit since then too plus obv being pregnant so hopefully they wont have got much worse tho they didnt mention extra blood vessels last time said micro bleeds 1 tiny one on each eye and a slightly bigger one on left eye so 3 in total and she didnt specify yesterday only 4 n a bit weeks till delivery so im hoping that will mean less worry about them too tho obv my control is not gonna be great after delivery so could be a no win situation. The thought of not being able to see terrifies me if im honest. Its just so annoying when my control esp around 18-22 years old was horrible and my eyes were perfect! Hope the scan and yours goes well diec

BonaDea · 05/03/2013 15:24

Good luck for eye appointments and the scan for diec.

Had 36 week growth scan this morning. LO still on the chubby side but basically hovering around 97th - 100th percentile.

Have been booked in for induction at 37+5 which is 18th March (a week on Monday). Eeeek!!

Had appt with lactation consultant yesterday which was great. She helped me express 2ml colostrum and has set me to work to do it 3-4 times a day!! She also recommended hooking up the breast pump ASAP not to get any colostrum but to induce labour. Have also booked acupuncture. Will let you know if anything works. Wink

dieciocho · 06/03/2013 08:00

Oh maaan, I remember expressing colostrum the day after V was born - it took over 1 hour to get 5ml and was soul destroying. Grin However, do follow the woman's advice bona and ignore me!

Scary, but great news bona, the sooner baby is out and with you the better, right?

Thanks for kind wishes re: hip scan.
Scan neither confirmed nor denied DDH, but we've been told to carry her in the BabyBjorn sling all day and put her in a ginormous terry nappy/washable nappy over all her clothes at night in order to keep her legs in the frog position. (Thanks Thanks for photo rue, yep, that's the position!)
She farted all over the sonographer's couch - didn't F do something similar in public spotty?
She'll be scanned again in 1 month to see if we've managed to help her hips or not...

SpottyTeacakes · 06/03/2013 08:10

Yeah he always does it in quiet waiting rooms!

Good news about the hips, I though babybjorns were bad for the hips?

RueDeWakening · 06/03/2013 11:28

Diec fingers crossed the frog helps!

Q from me: do I need to worry about ketones if my sugars are ok? Currently showing low ish levels but it's prob because I haven't eaten for 24+ hours - DH has generously shared his flu-like virus with me Hmm. DSN not at work till Friday so can't ring her till then.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 06/03/2013 11:46

Rue I would try and eat something then test again

Hopingforno2 · 06/03/2013 13:27

rue my dsn told me it was common to get ketones if you are unable to eat as your body has to break down fat etc so ketones are produced to eat then test again as spotty said

RueDeWakening · 06/03/2013 13:45

Thanks - have had a yogurt and some grapes, and kept it down so far so fingers crossed Smile will try some toast in a bit.

Can't remember feeling this rough before tbh though.

OP posts:
BonaDea · 06/03/2013 17:11

Diec - it felt pretty soul destroying yesterday as I was trying it on my own particularly as I kept accidentally skooshing drops out of the syringe while trying to get more in! However, I figure I have 12 days to build up a supply if needed for top ups in the first few days the baby is here. Today I've definitely got more than yesterday so hope I can keep it up.

Hmmm, bummer not to have a definitive answer re the hips but at least it wasn't bad news. You'll end up as a baby wearing unconditional parenting type but if it helps, it helps! Lol re the farting! V lady like!

Rue. - hope you get the ketones down, but think that is normal when you are not eating because ketones are produced when you're not eating carbs. That's why people doing the Atkins diet test for ketones - it is a sign the diet is working when their body breaks down fat for energy!

Hopingforno2 · 07/03/2013 04:50

Hi everyone im 34 weeks today and paranoia is getting a lil bit worse, my bg have been good over the last few days which i should be happy about but now im worried re placenta, ive had a few lows which hasnt happened in ages! Tho i have increased my levemir morning&night not by much but for 3 nights no battling the rise the way i have been doing& getting a tad low around 4-5am same daytime getting low around the times i decide to eat but this may be due to taking same doses and eating later and/or eating less? Sorry for the ramble just feeling a bit paranoid as my bg is okish now insane arent i! Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 07/03/2013 06:28

Hoping it was I had to reduce my ratios for breakfast (by half) that they induced me. When's your next appointment and have your ratios changed?
