I seem to have filled up the old thread and thought I better start a new one! Still got ages to go, don't leave me now...

Am currently sat waiting for my 16 week antenatal appt, been here an hour so far and just had BP done and that's it.

Went for (late) 6-week check up - GP very worried about my crazy sugars, so had a chat with nurse. Now stopping splitting Levemir and aiming to run at 7mmol fasting and then 13mmol after food.
Woke up with 16.3mmol this morning due to having adjusted Levemir, so now feel like crap.

spotty that 8u injection sounds nice; my dinner was 12u just for mushroom stroganoff and 3 spoonfuls of rice.

diec thats a shame i feel rotten im dreading the after birth bg levels if im honest, not sure my gp will take much to do with it tho they didnt last time round.

I don't see my GP I had an appointment with the drs surgery diabetes nurse and the DNS (new one as my lovely one left ). Although one of the GPS also specialises in diabetes if I need it.

Hope you get it sorted diec it's hard to go from tight control to being more relaxed and running a bit higher

hoping - I'm very worried about lack of skin to skin too so I just think you have to be as consistent as you can be about it and be as demanding as possible. I know it is hardly an oracle of infromation, but you see people on One Born Every Minute having skin to skin ALL THE TIME after an ELCS (and emergency for that matter). And, I'm pretty sure it is in the Nice guidelines, which I would quote at them til the cows come home. Fingers crossed you get a nice MW like Rue did!

I am also hoping to go into spontaneous labour. I am finishing work on Friday, and as of Monday morning I will be staying as active and upright as possible, doing lots of exercise and am also going to go for some acupuncture. That would be such a dream! And if you do go into labour on your own then I don't seen why you shouldn't at least get the chance to deliver.

Diec - good news you are changing things round a bit. I don't think I would ever get by not spliting Levemir, but it certainly sounds like my doses will plummet. Let us know how you get on! How are Violet's hips?

I was at hospital yesterday as consultant wants to see me weekly now. I didn't have a scan because they are booked in every 2 weeks anyway, but she did measure me with a tape (first time they've done this - I think because I'm getting growth scans they don't bother). At 35 weeks I'm measureing 36 which really isn't too bad I think! Baby is still head down but head is still free and not at all engaged, so I am definitely going to be bouncing on my ball to encourage that! Everything else seems fine, so next time in is next week for the 36 scan and appt. I am kind of expecting to be given The Date at that appt, but who knows? I suppose if everything is all ok they might torture me for another week til 37 before telling me. What do you lot think will happen?

I think they'll book you in there and then I was booked in for my induction when I was 34 weeks

I was booked in for elcs mon there bona im 4th april latest before if any problems arise i will be 38 weeks exactly, i wonder if you can get nice guidlines sent out? Just hope everything goes smoothly wouldnt mind going in to labour on my own at 37 weeks avoid the cs

They said oh u can have as much skin to skin ad you like once ur in recovery but id like it straight away! Plus i know that no1 can get to see us for 2 hours but thinking baby will need to feed asap for bg levels just dont want baby taken away again this time was told last time oh there arent enough staff to keep an eye on baby on ward so will bring this up on my next visit as id rather be booked in for an earlier/later date than be seperated!

V has another scan next week to see if her hip has corrected itself. If not, it's the harness that rue's daughter had.

Rue, can your daughter now move normally? How did you pick her up when she had the harness on?

Yes she can move fine and has had no further problems once she was out of the harness (took 8 weeks treatment). She is still followed up by the consultant, and has a hip X-ray every year, will see him this year then either 1 more in a couple of years (when she's 8) or discharged.

Picking up varied - but it's easy enough if slightly cumbersome. Because they can't move their legs they're very stable, DH was known to balance her in one hand BF positions changed slightly as the legs are splayed so it makes the traditional hold more annoying (but not impossible). Rugby ball hold worked better for me. Will see if I can dig out an old pic of her in it and post it tonight once I'm on the laptop for you to see.

6.4 two hours after breakfast might test again in another hour to make sure it's not dropping too much.

Nurse only wants me testing 2/3 times a day but I don't think that's enough?

spotty i think its gonna be hard going from testing so much and trying to keep it tight to letting it run high and testing less frequently dreading it a bit.

Ive got another eye screen on monday just hoping that at the very least its worse

I've got one on Monday too but I've got to cancel it because two days notice is not enough. How do they expect me to arrange for someone to drive me at such short notice plus dd has nursery and ds a hospital appointment

spotty i got mine weeks ago 2 days is very short notice!! Esp with 2 kids to organise im still not sure how im going to do it lol

Spotty that no of tests surely isn't practical - I've driven the car twice today already, so that'd be 2 of your "2 or 3" tests used up! Honestly, sometimes I despair, even HCPs have no clue it seems.

2 or 3??? I'm still doing 10 a day. It must be a money-saving drive by your PCT spotty.

Have had V weighed for first time since being discharged from community mw care. She's put on 1.1kg in 6 weeks - is that a lot? Apparently, she's small for 7.5 wks (real age), but big for 3.5 weeks (corrected age). What nonsense!
She's 7.5 wks because she's been here for 7.5 wks.

Anyway, I've been wondering whether babies of T1 mothers grow bigger in the womb AND outside too (if breastfed). I assume our milk fattens our babies more rapidly because of the massively slightly higher sugar content.
What do you think?

Diec they do need to correct the age ime. For example ds is only 9th centile for his actual age but a perfect 50th for his corrected age. It also makes a difference to developmental milestones. I only know lb and oz I'm afraid?! So can't help with that

No one ever mentioned actual and corrected ages with ds of is it only if they are born before 37 weeks? Last weekend at work tommorow

Diec corrected age is important for milestones etc though V would probably only be corrected for a year (?those born 32-37 weeks) I think. Your hv should know.

DS was corrected for 2 years as he was born before 32 weeks, so eg he didn't smile till 4m old which was bang on 2 months corrected so normal development if you take his prematurity into account iyswim.

Ok, so I'll only have to worry about two ages for a year then.

Umm no I really don't think so sounds like a really good weight gain. Where is she on the red chart? (They should be marking it in her corrected age).

If you would like go compare these are ds's weights so far:

3 weeks 8lb2
5 weeks 8lb6
7 weeks 9lb2
12 weeks 11lb10

That's his actual age. So he put on over 2lb in five weeks and he's actually every so slightly dropping down the centiles.

Also, you're breastfeeding so you're obviously doing an amazing job for her to have such a good weight gain. Your HV is talking rubbish!

Ok so had a bit of an episode at work today around an hour after eating i felt sick and faint checked bg was 7.2 so fine but really thought i was going to pass out took 20 mins to start feeling a bit better got sent home so embarreses no idea why it happened anyone ever had this happen??

Blood pressure hoping? I think fainting/faint episodes are common because your heart is doing so much extra work (I'm not a medical pro though)

Thanks spotty myb was have never had it happen before in fact ive never passed out to date or felt like it tho was so very close to it today worried me a bit

You could always ask to see your me for a check if you're worried hope you're feeling better now

Feeling better than before spotty tho got the sicky feeling that came before it last time again after dinner, im wondering if having a full stomach is affecting me tho dunno why i called they said just to see how i go rest for tonight drink plenty etc
