I seem to have filled up the old thread and thought I better start a new one! Grin Still got ages to go, don't leave me now...

Am currently sat waiting for my 16 week antenatal appt, been here an hour so far and just had BP done and that's it.

Puds could you be coming down with something? That always sends my levels a bit mad for a day or two before I get any other symptoms. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks Rue I reckon I am - feeling bloody knackered and achey and tired. Oh the joys of a pregnant diabetic!

It's finally back in range ish at 7.2 but feeling pretty guilty about the last 12 hours! It can't be helped I suppose it's just learning to take it on the chin and move on isn't it? How good is everyone else at doing this?

Hopingforno2 · 27/01/2013 16:52

Thanks spotty im just so worried about him never seen him so ill Sad Also have never dealt with impetigo does anyone know anything about the rash? Being the super paranoid mum that i am i put a glass over it and it doesnt go away?? My oh says well they said last night it is impetigo but i cant help but be worried am i crazy?

Mylittlepuds · 27/01/2013 16:55

I hoping you're not crazy, just a concerned mum. We have a 'drop in' centre near us where you can take them 8am to 8pm where I always go if I'm worrying. Do you have anything like that nearby?

Hopingforno2 · 27/01/2013 17:06

puds no in scotland its nhs 24 you have to call for an out of hours appointment or just go to a&e but both have their problems if/when i call nhs 24 they may not even want to see him and in a&e there is a chance you could sit for hours waiting to be seen :(

Mylittlepuds · 27/01/2013 17:17

Oh blimming heck. Did a doctor see the rash and say it was impetigo?

Hopingforno2 · 27/01/2013 17:26

Yes the worst of it is at the corner of his mouth but i was so concerned with his fever etc at the time i cant remeber if the bit im looking at was there too, my mum and oh think it was and as he is sleeping im reluctant to wake him but unsure what to do at all think worry and lack of sleep may be causing me to think the worst and i dont want to drag him out and upset him if it is just me being paranoid Sad

BonaDea · 27/01/2013 18:20

Hi hoping. I'm not a mum yet, but think mums do have instincts and you know your son. If you still think there is potentially something wrong above and beyond the doc's diagnosis. You are never going to regret a phone call to Nhs direct...

Puds - I think of you are sure your novo ratios are right - so you are the same level before and after lunch - you need to up the background. My DSN always says 2u at a time. With you running the levels you are I would seriously doubt you'd end up low. Give it a bash tmrw.

Seriously, this week I have increased day and evening levemir AND upped lunchtime ratio and am feeling so much better about things. It was broke, so time to fix it!

Go for it, and report back. X

Mylittlepuds · 27/01/2013 20:07

Good advice Bona. I just need to bite the bullet, be brave and take more insulin. I think it's the lack of background insulin that's causing me to float upwards too for no reason. Have you had any hypos as a result of putting things up?

I agree Hoping - just give NHS direct a quick ring for peace of mind. You sound totally like me! Your DH and mum saying everything will be okay and you doing the worrying for everyone. Has he got a temp?

I know this is a bit silly but are you lot still injecting in your tummy? I am with 5mm needles. I just had a bit of a freak out the other day as when I injected the baby kicked the same spot at the same time and I was worried I'd 'hit' it! Is it even possible? Sometimes the baby feels very close to the surface IYSWIM!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/01/2013 20:24

I injected into my tummy all the way through Smile

Hopingforno2 · 27/01/2013 20:40

Thanks guys i got my mum to come have a look at it and ahe thinks its ok and he is a little brighter temp is down a bit so tho i still feel a bit worried i know i tend to overthink things il ring my gp tommorow if no improvment in him. I actually get teary when he is so ill worse since being pregnant

Mylittlepuds · 27/01/2013 22:24

If it's any consolation Hoping I'm anxious every day - about most things! I'm sure pregnancy doesn't make it any better.

I'm glad he's a bit brighter. It's when they're not themselves you worry. It's a saying that everyone seems to use, but it's true! Nothing worse than when they're poorly. Such a worry.

Hopingforno2 · 27/01/2013 23:30

Thanks puds i will phone my gp in the morning just to see if they will look at it for my peace of mind and also to ask if there are any other options for his antibiotic as he is being incredibly difficult to get to take it, he was sick straight after it at dinner time and i had to regive it then took 45 mins tonight by the end i was actually in floods of tears as i knew if i forced it with a syrige he would be sick if he got too wound up he would be sick and just so worried about him, about the stress its causing every1 including me plus i feel like he never gets the proper 5mls as theres always some still in the spoon Sad

Hopingforno2 · 28/01/2013 11:16

Ok so doc says its not the dreaded 'm' word so phew just to keep on with the bactroban and oral antibiotics should pick up in a cpl days fingers crossed.

Currently sat waiting to go in to clinic as i was late due to taking ds to gp gonna be a loooong wait of at least an hour Sad

BonaDea · 28/01/2013 11:41

Hi hoping that is great news and a weight off your mind I'm sure!

puds - no hypos after all those increases - have been having a little dip late afternono / early evening, but tends to start around the time I leave work, so have picked it up each day before driving and had a small snack.

After saying things have got much much better... Had a nightmare night last night. Was really great all weekend. I even went for afternoon tea yesterday with some friends - sandwiches, cakes, the lot, but managed to inject the right amount and was 7.7 within 2 hours which I was delighted wtih. Completely miscalculated dinner though and ended up at 3.3 after 60 minutes. So, I had a big glass of smoothie... Tested again before bed - 3.0 so had another big glass of smoothie.... Went to sleep thinking that was bound to be me sorted - woke up feeling hypo at 1am at 2.7!! Had a biscuit and 250ml orange juice (by which time my stomach was roiling with juice!) and dropped off. Woke up for the loo but felt absolutely fine and was too lazy to test. Woke up this morning with my highest reading since being pregnant - 18.7 Sad so obviously continued to go hypo, had a liver dump and then shot up. What a disaster! I am still hovering at the 9 mark despite having had 30 units of Novo now and no food. Starving and very very reluctant to eat.

I hate this sometimes - just when you think you have things sorted...

Hopingforno2 · 28/01/2013 11:50

Awww bona you poor thing! By the time the clinic takes me im gonna be bloody hypo!!

BonaDea · 28/01/2013 12:06

See if tehy have any lucozade - they usually have it kicking around to give people glucose tolerance tests!!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2013 12:08

When I was going to clinic they have a vending machine full of yummy things!

Mylittlepuds · 28/01/2013 13:18

H Bona! I HATE that. You get stressed at the low, get stressed at the high, it's a bloody nightmare! You back in an even keel yet? Totally know what you mean about eating again. I get like that.

BonaDea · 28/01/2013 13:45

Thanks all. Was back to 6.6 by half an hour ago so now tucking into a low carb lunch of salad followed by melon / strawberries. Should hopefully not cause any furthe spikes. Feeling completely rotten, though, and definitely have a hypo/high hangover!

Hopingforno2 · 28/01/2013 14:53

Well 1pm before i got out clinic but was just hitting a low when i got in so not too bad tho will most likely be high later on the consultant was happy enough tho, got a massive anti d inj all i can say is ouch lol

Back in 2 weeks for a growth scan and clinic just hope ive not caused baby to put on too much weight

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 06:48

Just tested and it was 9.0 was hypo at 4am (didn't test Blush) just had a small handful of revels as that was closest. Do you think it was just too much or is something else going on?

dieciocho · 29/01/2013 07:03

spotty, could've been the opposite: it wasn't enough so your liver kicked in...just a thought.

Baby saved me this morning by waking up to feed at 2am, which reminded me to test my blood - it was 1.9

SpottyTeacakes · 29/01/2013 07:08

Hmm I did feed straight after so you could be right. I'm too tired to concentrate on diabetes at the moment!

Mylittlepuds · 29/01/2013 07:56

Breastfeeders - am I going to manage it this time round with a toddler, the diabetes AND an anxiety disorder?! Or not...
