Ready to pop and want baby OUT!!!

38 weeks today, and am really ready to have this baby! I know that realistically I could have almost another 4 weeks of feeling like this, but just want it sooner rather than later. I feel that all I am doing is cleaning the house, as I don't want to go into labour with a messy house (especially as I'm planning a home birth). DD3 arrived at 38+3, so all through this pregnancy, I've been expecting the same, or even a bit earlier, and I know that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to have the baby soon. I know that I'm being silly, and that the baby will arrive when it's ready, but each day now feels about a week long!

Oh moomin that's fantastic congratulations! :)

funchum8am · 26/09/2012 09:33

moomin congratulations! I remember wondering ages ago on the Sept bus thread which of the two of us would be first since we share a due date...I feel quite teary for you! Good luck with all the fun to come....happy snuggling!

I have now got carpal tunnel to go with backache...surely baby can't wait much longer?

Msinterpret · 26/09/2012 10:11

Hooray!

Well done moomin and welcome Lola (great name) Smile

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 26/09/2012 10:26

Aww congratulations. Cute name!

blooblies · 26/09/2012 13:33

Well done moomin Grin!!!! SO pleased someone is having a good day!

funchum8am · 26/09/2012 15:04

Argh I had a tearful meltdown at midday.....feeling fine again now but think I may be reaching the limit of my ability to sit around waiting! Sweep on Friday - is it normal to look forward to an internal vaginal procedure?!

paperclips · 26/09/2012 15:16

Funchum I know what you mean about the sweep I looked forward to mine! Painful but I still booked another for tomorrow. Eagerly awaiting news on the state of my cervix!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 26/09/2012 15:26

funchum I know how you feel, I had my first of three sweeps today and although it was more painful than I remembered I still told the midwife to give it all she'd got! Another tomorrow then again Friday, crossing everything (apart from legs Wink) that they work before Saturday. She also told me to get some clary sage so I'll be off to Boots in a bit. This baby's coming out!!

How is everyone else doing?

funchum8am · 26/09/2012 18:39

Woe three sweeps is good going, your midwives are clearly more enthusiastic than those in my area! I have been offered Friday when I'll be 41+1 but nothing earlier as Monday's clinic was cancelled with no replacement appts offered til Friday. If Friday doesn't work I'll try to get one on Monday; then induction is booked for Tuesday anyway!

funchum8am · 26/09/2012 18:40

And best of luck for a result, heffalumps!

Mikyahrose · 27/09/2012 09:03

I had my first swwp yesterday at 41+1, not as bad as i expected, although did make me bleed a bit, but seems to have stopped now. I have another booked for Saturday, then the induction is booked for Monday at 40+13.

Quite nice to have an end date now, feel like i've been in limbo since passing the due date.

Would prefer for it all to kick off naturally of course, but am happy to go ahead with the induction too.

milk · 27/09/2012 09:35

I'm 39+2 today. Still in bed in PJs. Arghhhh I need this baby out!!! I'm so massive and tired all the time :(

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 27/09/2012 10:28

Thanks :) Just had 2nd sweep, not as bad as yesterday's and I'm 2cm dilated now so the midwife said she's hopeful that just the gel on Saturday should gets things going and I should still be able to use the birth centre. I'm feeling quite achey with some mild cramps too so going to try and keep active today and then have my clary sage bath tonight.

How are the rest of you ladies, anyone getting any hopeful signs?

Mikyahrose · 27/09/2012 10:30

Think i may have had my show. Googled imaged whast one should look like and it looked the same, a little dirtier, but i think thats probably from yesterday bleed.

Ooo 'citin!

EarnestDullard · 27/09/2012 10:45

Sounds promising Mikyah :)

I'm 38+5 today. Lots of BHs, quite a lot of low-level cramping, even the odd 'proper' contraction (like a cramp that builds to a peak then eases off again) but never more than two at a time Hmm

Best of luck to everyone.

blondiep14 · 27/09/2012 11:00

Ooooh, good luck everyone!

Still waiting here - 41+2.
Tried a sweep Tuesday at 41 weeks but cervix was still prosterior (?).
So seems baby isn't even ready despite being 9 days late Sad.

Induction booked Sunday afternoon which I am dreading as in local General hospital, not my lovely MLU where DS1 and DS2 were born.

Msinterpret · 27/09/2012 13:17

Oh, sorry to hear it blondie Sad

I was 9 days late .

I'm sure things can change quickly. COme on baby!

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 27/09/2012 14:00

I've been lying down all day watching films, bored out of my brain. Does keeping upright really make that much difference? I'm 40+3 btw.

funchum8am · 27/09/2012 14:28

I had some sort of contraction type thing about half four this morning but nowt since. Went to an nct coffee morning and met lots of lovely people though so feeling less glum than yesterday. First sweep is tomorrow, hope it starts things off.

milky I hope things are progressing nicely!

shouldibecross I have given up trying to stay active and upright; it may help in some cases but I have such backache I am sticking to the sofa too.

Mikyahrose · 27/09/2012 18:20

Nothing happening here now, no more signs of the show - not sure if it comes out in one bit, or throughout the day, but nothing since this morning. No other signs either.

Think i'm gonna join the sofa gang and just crash there over the weekend. Have spent the last week, staying upright and bouncing and walking. But he's still back to back and not engaged enough, so sod it - i'm staying comfy from now on!

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 27/09/2012 22:40

funchum8am, I have my first sweep tomorrow too, I'm putting all my eggs in that basket.

I went for a 4 hour shopping session and the baby hasn't budged so I'm not going to try anything now (well, after this curry Wink)other than relaxing.

My baby is apparently engaged so I don't see how standing helps. Hmm

funchum8am · 28/09/2012 05:41

Mine is also engaged and has been for weeks but still in there! Have had a couple of what could be early contractions this morning but seem to have stopped. MW is at 12.30 so am hoping the sweep will set things off....

Good luck for yours, shouldibecross

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 28/09/2012 06:06

Good luck to you funchum8am!

I've got nothing going on my end although have been awake since 3.30am :(

I'm quite tempted to ask to be induced ASAP, between the heartburn, sickness, SPD and non sleeping I have no idea how I'm going to get this baby out myself after 10 more days!

whatsoever · 28/09/2012 10:58

This morning I am knackered because I woke at 4.30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Have had 3 doses of Gaviscon already, none of which have helped for more than 5 minutes, my pelvis is agony & now my upper back has started aching. Upper back?? That's not even a pregnancy thing!

If it wasn't for the fact I have the hairdressers at 12, today would definitely be a PJ day. Have already cancelled my girls night out tonight (and book group last night) because my pelvis is so painful by the evening I don't trust that I'll be able to drive & I am poor company because of said pain. 39+1 - not real signs other than my overwhelming frustration and pain.

Best of luck to all the sweepers, inducers & waiters Smile

funchum8am · 28/09/2012 15:25

Well I went for the sweep, legs akimbo on the table, MW snapping on the latex glove, and....the sodding fire alarm went off.

20 mins of standing in the car park with no knickers on later we were able to finish the job! Home now and analysing every twinge.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so rough whatsoever and shouldibecross - best to rest and do what feels right though, our bodies are under a lot of strain!
