Ready to pop and want baby OUT!!!

38 weeks today, and am really ready to have this baby! I know that realistically I could have almost another 4 weeks of feeling like this, but just want it sooner rather than later. I feel that all I am doing is cleaning the house, as I don't want to go into labour with a messy house (especially as I'm planning a home birth). DD3 arrived at 38+3, so all through this pregnancy, I've been expecting the same, or even a bit earlier, and I know that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to have the baby soon. I know that I'm being silly, and that the baby will arrive when it's ready, but each day now feels about a week long!

Hey Moomin,
I had just the same, about 7 hours of contractions from 5pm to midnight yesterday, then it just stopped. I'm 39+6 today and really tearful and can't seem to believe I will naturally go into labour any more, this has been going on for well over a week now. I know I could still have over two weeks but each day feels as long as a year.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 24/09/2012 08:16

I feel for you all. Especially the false labour. I don't know what normal labour is like as DD1 was ELCS and DD2 was induced (never again).

I'm 37.4 weeks Sad

milk · 24/09/2012 08:24

Good morning :)

My goodness Moomin and squidkid - if false labour happened to me I'd be jumping up and down on a trampoline in anger :P

Today I'm 38+6 so this is my last week Grin Can't believe this time next week I could be having the baby Shock

Moominsummermadness · 24/09/2012 08:30

That's how I feel, squidkid. I should know better, as DD2 was 9 days late, and I did go into spontaneous labour with her- I'm now 40+4 and feel like induction is looming!

milk, I would be jumping up and down on a trampoline, but don't have enough energy after 2 hours sleep!

Hi squidkid (remember you from antenatal thread)

Sorry to hear about false starts, grumble grumble, meh. V annoying, this happened to me with DD1. Easy to say but try to think each one is still getting you closer for when it finally properly happens and try to conserve your energy - I got v excited from start then was SO knackered. Was basically a week long labour....zzzzxxxBlush

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 24/09/2012 10:18

Feeling lots of sympathy for the false labours, must be so frustrating and especially when you need all the rest you can get.

I got my bloods back and they said my liver bile was a bit high which could be a sign of obstetric coleosis (sp?!) and would explain the itching but as I'm booked for induction this week anyway they said not to worry too much. Anyone else get the urge to clonk them on the nose when they say 'try not to worry' after telling you something worrying?! Anyway off for my 41 week check now & to discuss the bloods so Im considering asking for a sweep today rather than waiting until Wednesday, itching still driving me loopy so just want it to get going now.

Were any if you induced due to lateness with your first but managed a spontaneous labour with your second? I'm feeling quite miserable now as if I'll never get the experience of going into labour naturally and am destined for another induction no matter what I try.

Hope you're all managing a bit of rest, especially those of you being kept up all night.

blooblies · 24/09/2012 11:15

Keep positive Heffalumps, it WILL happen. As the consultant midwife said to me, no-one has ever been pregnant forever! I was induced with #1 and declined induction with #2. At 16 days overdue and after 3 sweeps and 3 nights of false labour, my waters finally went and I remember feeling so overjoyed that my body could actually manage to so something right as I had almost lost all hope!

I'm beginning to get the same frustrations though, as now at 40 weeks (by scan, 39+4 by my dates) bubs is still roaming free and showing no signs of being able to engage and I worry that my pelvis is too narrow and I need to be doing things to help but can't work out what helps.... I should just relax and let it work itself out I know, but I also know at 40+16 how I berated myself for not trying more last time!

paperclips · 24/09/2012 11:23

40+5 today. Anyone else feel like they are going to be pregnant forever?

It's pissing down with rain here, can't find a good reason to go outside in it.

I know I should be upright and jiggling baby downwards but I'm going to lounge around watching dvds in my PJs.

Badgerina · 24/09/2012 12:11

I'm 40+2. I've got the midwife coming on Friday. She'll want to do a sweep - going to have to fight her off. DS1 came at 40+12 so I don't see the point of sweeping much before 40+10, if at all.

I'm having a similar day to you paperclips. Pottering around doing some chores and then slumping in PJs with DVDs Grin

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 24/09/2012 12:43

Thanks blooblies I'll try keeping positive and at least if nothing else it will make me slightly less horrendous company for everyone around me!

Back from my check up I asked if I really had to go for induction and she said hospital policy is to start it at 40+13 due to the risks, so even if I decline it I still won't be allowed in the birth centre for the water birth I want, so I've decided to just accept it and start thinking of ways to cope with another induced birth rather than moping openly about it.

Weather terrible here too, I'm joining the pjs and sofa plan, anything else would be madness in this rain!

Badgerina · 24/09/2012 13:05

so even if I decline it I still won't be allowed in the birth centre for the water birth I want

Wow - really? They're saying that if you decline induction at 40+13 and go into labour spontaneously, within a few days of that date, that you can't have a water birth? Shock Did they say why?

blooblies · 24/09/2012 13:41

I asked to see the consultant midwife and have it all cleared with her, in black and white in my hospital notes. Despite being a Do Not Induce VBAC, I can go to the midwife led unit, get in the pool, not have a cannula put in as soon as I turn up and have intermittent monitoring whenever I go into labour. It has been a load off my mind.

All hospitals have policies, but you are entitled to have things your way, in full knowledge of any risks involved.

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 24/09/2012 19:20

They said it was due to the increased risks of being more than two weeks overdue :( although you've made me wonder now if I should have been more persistent, I'm going in on Wednesday for a sweep so I think I'll ask them again and see if I can get something in my notes. Thanks for the help ladies, you've given me a little more hope not to give up just yet :)

How has everyone else's day been? Any more hopeful signs?

squidkid · 24/09/2012 19:56

I'm due tomorrow.

It's been a grim rainy day and the first day of my entire maternity leave I haven't done any exercise. I felt horrible, I cried for ages feeling the baby would never come. The last few days have been really, really tough. I am having a glass of wine and that is making things better.

No more contraction-y things today - odd pains at times.

Have passed my mucus plug - I guess that's something though I know it doesn't mean labour is imminent or anything. it was immediately after sex so boyfriend now thinks he is a mucus-plug-dislodging superhero Grin

Moominsummermadness · 24/09/2012 20:18

TMI- but I've just had big show. I'm feeling very crampy, sort of that heavy pre-menstrual feeling. I really hope this is the start! It's weird, because I didn't have a show with any of my other 3 DCs until I was actually in labour.

blooblies · 24/09/2012 21:20

fingers crossed xxxx DH has specifically requested this one not to arrive during the night so I am now off duty apparently!

milk · 24/09/2012 21:39

squidkid ((hugs)) I hope you are feeling better now!

Moominsummermadness - Good luck Grin I hope this is it and you come back soon with baby news :)

Badgerina · 24/09/2012 21:40

Moomin hope so!! Fingers crossed, legs UNCROSSED! Grin

Badgerina · 24/09/2012 21:41

squidkid I'm laughing at your superhero bf! That is exactly the kind of thing my DH would think Grin

Moominsummermadness · 25/09/2012 05:31

Been having irregular contractions all night, have only managed an hour's sleep and now admitted defeat and decided to get up. Going to have a clary sage bath, then get on the birthing ball for a bit. I defintely think this is the start, but just having a long latent phase!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 25/09/2012 08:13

Sounds hopeful moomin fingers crossed for you!

I've got another reflexology session today, and my cold is definitely on its way out so maybe things will get moving now. A friend who was due two days after me had her baby yesterday, seeing the photos of her gorgeous newborn has made me extra impatient!

Msinterpret · 25/09/2012 15:14

Good luck moomin! Hope things got moving?

Had MW appt today (39+4) and head 3/5 engaged apparently (second baby tho) so at least all ready for exit! Lots of BH and uncomfortable pushing from her but nothing real yet...

DD1 arrived 40+3 and MW said 'unlikely to go way overdue' with this one but then I met my friend for lunch who had dd1 40+3 and dd2 40+14.

Shock Hmm

paperclips · 25/09/2012 16:41

Just had a sweep, well not a proper sweep, more of a poke around, she could only get a fingertip in. My cervix is 80% effaced. So it's thinning, all those tightenings and aches I've had must be moving things along a bit. They've been much stronger in the last 12-24 hours, thought things were starting last night but it never went anywhere.

I am doubtful that this will set me off just yet, feel like I have a few more days of aches and pains yet. :( I have booked for another sweep on Thursday.

Also booked my induction for a week today when I'm 40+13. Right now I don't think I'll last till then at least I really hope not.

And it's still pissing with rain, I would quite like to go for a long walk but its awful out and my raincoat doesn't do up.

Good luck everyone looking forward to some news soon

Msinterpret · 25/09/2012 17:29

Grin to the raincoat not doing up paper clips I've been doing mine from the top, putting over my head then zipping down as far as will go. So that's my boobs dry then!

Moominsummermadness · 26/09/2012 05:18

I have a beautiful brand new baby girl! Lola was born at 3.37am after a hospital transfer and difficult delivery. She's so worth it though. All the best to you all still waiting! Xx
