Can a Clear Blue Digital Pregnancy Test give a false negative?

Right here it goes...

So I was due on 12th July and my periods are normally regular. I had unprotected sex on the 29th June to which I've researched and turns out I was most likely ovulating between 25h-30th June. So this is why I've tested quite early...

I done a test yesterday - Boots own brand and it came back with an unclear result. It had what I could make out to be a very very very faint line. So I decided to take a Clear Blue Digital test today which came back 'Not Pregnant'. However I'm not convinced, as I just feel I might be... If that makes sense to anyone?

Is there any chance or has anyone ever used Clear Blue and been given a false negative?
I'm going to re-test in a few days anyway if my period hasn't come but I just wanted to know if it was possible.

Sorry forgot to say I'm 9 days late for period . An I'm about to go to boots an buy 1 of every test available. My urgency is due to the fact I'm on extreme amounts of medication an it will need to be stopped asap. If I am preg.

How sure are you about your dates? It's possible that you're testing too early, so only some very sensitive tests are showing a positive. But if you're definitely nine days late, then that it unlikely. Your very faint lines may be evap lines.

If you followed the test instructions and read them within the time limit then the faint lines are not evaporation lines. (Within the correct time limit, there is no time for anything to evaporate.) The negative sounds like it might be down to the time of day you're testing - first morning urine is best as the levels are highest.

Hi, I'm wondering if anybody could share a similar experience as I am having and ended up with a big fat positive to reassure me a little to not give up. My cycles are usually 26 days to the day, hour, minute second! I am that regular! However, this month I am late, I was due 30th July, so I'm working out I'm late by maybe 1/2 days. I took a clear blue pregnancy test on Friday the 29th and got what was to me a very very very faint cross (I did look at it past the 10 minute mark so could have been a evap line) later that day I took a first response BFN so I decided to leave it until today the following Monday and did a clear blue digital that was also a bfn .... Has anybody ever had a negative clear blue digital to later go on to find out they are Infact pregnant.... It is so confusing and upsetting because me and my partner have been TTC for 5 months and I do suffer from endometriosis. If anyone could share any reassuring advice it would be appreciated xxx

So I got a 5 pack of the clear blue digital pregnancy test, and me and my husband have been trying. Over the last month and half I've taken all of them, but I've noticed my boobs being sore and being late on my period according to like four different apps I have. Is it possible I just got a bad batch of pregnancy tests or what?

I also got out my IUD at the end of july and have had two periods since then, but missed the one that was predicted I was suppose to have. Should I just try a different brand or safe to say I'm not pregnant?

Haven't read all the comment but i am 20 weeks pregnant.

When I first tested I got a very very very faint line, could just about see it and then I kept thinking maybe I was imagining it.

I brought a clear blue digital, it came back not pregnant.

This was a few days before my period was due. I was then 2 days late and got a first response and it came back positive x

This thread has been so helpful to me! I'm currently 8 days late and only seem to be getting a positive on CB tests, I've just ordered 2 CBD tests and hoping they come on Monday! I didn't know you could pull them apart. I had faint positives on 4 CB tests. I've attached photos. Not getting excited as I don't believe the test after reading so many horror stories online 😩 xx

I have regular period but I'm 5 days late now. I did CBD test 2 days ago and got positive with 2-3 weeks pregnant. Notice spotting today so I went for ultrasound but couldn't see anything. I'm confused :(

very disappointed with the clearblue digital test. Before buying the clearblue I bought the first response and it came out positive. To make sure it was positive I bought the clearblue digital since it's supposed to be supper accurate... so I go and dip the test in my urine and I automatically get an answer "pregnant" so I was really excited. Since I had seen many complains about it, I decide to dip the second test in the same urine and to my surprise it said "not pregnant" so after showing my hubby we were both sad and confused. so I read about people opening these test so it gave me the idea to do it. I pop them open and to my surprise both test strips read the same. They both had 2 lines although a little faint but clearly you can see they are positive. So I will definitely not recommend waisting your money on them.

chio there's two lines on the test strip of every digital test, pregnant or not.

Was the negative test you received taken with first morning urine? In the early stages of pregnancy it's not unusual to receive a positive test in the morning but a negative later on in the day when your urine is diluted.

There's also the possibility that you're having a chemical pregnancy. Which is where the egg implants, or partially implants enough to create a small amount of HCG that can be detected on a test but then 'comes away' as a very early miscarriage.

sorry just reread your post and saw you used the same urine for both digital tests.

@AliceThrewTheFookingGlass it was very confusing but I'm going to the doctor today so hopefully there is a little bundle of joy in there we have been trying for almost a year.

Hi,

Hoping just for a chat as I think my husband is going insane listening to me now.

We had 3 miscarriages earlier this year in the space of 5 months, all within 8 weeks so fortunately we only really had the emotional stresses.

We decided to give it a break and hold off trying as I'd been on the deposit provera for almost 10 years so we thought maybe my body was just letting me know now is not the right time.

Any way a couple of weeks ago we got a little carried away and I was convinced I'd be pregnant as it was around the time I ovulate and previous pregnancies would suggest that I'm extremely fertile.

Anyways, to the point! I did a clear blue line test a few days ago, followed by another 2 over the next 24 hours which all showed faint lines - the last one being in sunday morning. We were really happy but trying not to get our hopes up too much.

Today is Tuesday and the day my period was due, no period as of yet so I did 2 tests using morning urine however thelse were clear blue digital and both said negative. Granted I did the sample this morning before I bought the tests and tested late afternoon but Im not sure if that would make any difference.

I'm so confused and wish dearly that this baby making process was easier and less stressful.

Looking on here it appears that the clear blue digital only show pregnant when your urine has a certain amount of hormones in it unlike the traditional tests which show a lighter line with less hormone and a darker line with more hormone.

Can someone please advise? I feel so confused.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all.
I really need some advice.
I have been feeling pretty queezy and sore the last month or so. And my last period was end of October, but it was very faint. Last week I had what seemed like my period at first, but then it just faded to very light pink and brown discharge. The headaches and back pain is really intense.
So I decided to take a home pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was positive-very faint line but there none the less.
So I decided to confirm it, and that test was then negative. I did clear blu this morning and it said "not pregnant". What should I do? I am so confused. Please I need advice. Do you think I should wait? Or do go and do a blood test? I am at the end of my rope emotionally.

LadyLizz the CBD do need a higher concentrate of HCG so aren't always as quick to show a positive result. Get a First Response and try that, if that gives a positive, try the digital again in a couple of days. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi all !

I’m sorry to just jump in. But I need some help or just someone to talk to would be lovely.

Anyways here it goes. Sorry if TMI.
Last AF was 26 August.
Got sexually active last 1-11 September.
I had little dark brown discharge 18 September for 5 days.
Since then I never had my period.
I have a few symptoms like cravings, fatigue and I feel sick whenever I’ve just eaten or drink.
But I keep testing negative. Until yesterday.
Maybe I am only looking too much into this, it could be an evap line for all I know. Since I didn’t see it until past the allowed time frame.
Some insight from you guys would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
