Hi,

I'm just interested to know!

My first baby was born term (40+1) at 6lb 10.

Currently due with second and they've averaged him to be around 7.5 - 8lbs.

Just wondering if there tends to be a general trend? How much bigger are second than first? Then are third even bigger...?

Thanks for playing along :-)

Just wanted to add to my earlier post that the weight estimates are very often wrong! With DS I had a scan every four weeks from 24 weeks onwards and they estimated him to be 11lb+, I was bricking it! Then at his final scan, when I was 39+2, they estimated 8lb 8oz. He was born five days later and 9lb 3oz.

I didn't have extra scans with DD but at 40+1 I had a scan and the MW said I was 'full of baby' with no free space visible, without even doing a measurement she estimated 10-11lb based on just that. I had another scan at 40+3 where they did take measurements, it was a fancy HD scan and they said 8lb 12oz. I had her half an hour later by EMCS and she was 7lb 10oz.

DS 39 & 4 = 8 lb 13 oz
DD 40 & 5 = 7 lb 10 oz

annelid · 17/06/2012 00:32

DD1 8lb
DD2 9lb
DS1 9lb 12oz
DS2 11lb
DD3 9lb 2oz
DS3 9lb 10oz

Flisspaps · 17/06/2012 09:32

CBear Scans can indeed be wrong. DS was estimated to be about 9lb 7 - 10lb 7 at term...11lb 7 was his birth weight.

The inaccuracy works both ways!

When we were discussing my DCs differing birth weights a mw asked if they had the same dad Shock. I was very
