Pregnant with no. 3 / 4 / 5...?!

Just wondering if anyone else is pg with their 3rd, 4th, 5th, or more?!

I am newly pg with baby number 4 and finding it a bit different this time.

Yesterday I flicked through a couple of magazines but the content didn't seem that relevant to me. I am quietly happy but not nearly as excited or nervous as I was before, especially the first time.

I know what kind of birth I want (same as the last two times) and I don't need to buy any stuff, so there doesn't seem so much to think about, at least until the scan.

I am also a bit worried about how other people are going to react when we tell them. There seems to be a general view that wanting 4 children must make us mad.

Hope I am not alone?!

icequeenkate - grrr on your behalf, people can be so bloody insensitive.

I am only on no3 but some of the comments I have had (I live in Spain where many women these days only have one) have been outrageous and down right rude. I was at a party a few weeks back with my 2 DS and every Mum that spoke to me had something negative to say, wouldn´t mind but none of them know me well, certainly don´t know anything about my circumstances and a couple had never even met me before Confused. I came away, got home and cried. Sad

I am an only child aswell and hated it

Oodthunkit · 06/11/2012 17:50

Congrats dontsweat and I'm v happy not to be last

ShellyBobbs · 06/11/2012 20:07

peterpie / ice If you look near the beginning of the thread, there are lots of tips on how to be as rude as possible / completely insult people with negative remarks. I quite enjoyed it, unfortunately word must have gone round because nothing has been said to me for months now Grin

AppleCrumples · 06/11/2012 21:17

Thank god parents evenings over! It seems ds1 (9) is cruising a bit. It's mostly with his homework which I already knew as getting him to do it at all is so hard but his written work is pretty sloppy too. Aarrgggh! I haven't got the energy to tackle it all :(

On the plus side dd is well settled in reception and ds2 (6) is competitively well behaved and doing really well! He is competitive in everything and has to be the top.

dontsweat you will b fine! I found going from 1 to 2 was a huge step and no3 just sort of fitted in with the rest of us

CODwidow · 06/11/2012 21:34

pink I still don't believe it to be honest and wasn't trying for a dd so in shock! I love having ds's they seem more suited to me iyswim but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it! My ds's will be 10,8,6 and 4 when baby arrives so it'll be nice as their all at school so will have some time to myself.

The comments I've had really wind me up but trying to just ignore it now. People always feel the need to say how relieved I must have been that it was a girl usually whilst I'm with the boys which I find thoughtless. Also if I had a pound for everytime someone has said 'you must not have a tv' I'd be sunning myself abroad now! Grrr

cherrypiew3 · 06/11/2012 21:44

COD I have had the 'don't you have a tele in your house' comment loads someone said it to me when I was pg with dc3 and they had 3 themselvesHmm

dontsweat like Apples I found going from 1 to 2 harder than 2 to 3.

CODwidow · 06/11/2012 22:04

I can also agree going from 1 to 2 was the biggest change and I found it really hard, no 3 really did just fit in but I know the feeling as I have moments of pure panic. I'm not sure mines about no5 but about going back to the baby stage.

peterpie · 06/11/2012 22:09

Lol at ShellyBobs - I was just so shocked at the time I couldn´t think of anything to say Shock

COD I have also had lots of "at least it´s a girl" comments...I just don´t get this at all, I would have been more than happy if no3 was another boy, in fact I saw myself having 3 boys and was convinced I would have another.

Don´tSweat I have had lots of moments of panic throughout this pg depsite it being very much planned and thought about. I have been generally much more hormonal though so I really think that may be having a big influence on my thinking. But yes I have had lots of how the hell am I going to cope moments, especially when I have had a particularly bad day with the boys. I just hope I can be more relaxed this time round, I don´t want to turn into a stressed shouty Mummy all the time...

It´s good to hear those of you saying that going from 1 to 2 was harder than 2 to 3 Smile

AppleCrumples · 06/11/2012 22:15

cod i'm the same my youngest is also 4 so am finding am more nervous of going back to baby stage. I have similar age gaps to you as well and I think what made it easier last time was the fact ds2 was practically still a baby when dd arrived, now it feels like a long time ago Confused

I do still have those how will I cope moments but dcs will all be at school all day so I'll have lots of time with this one.

enjay0811 · 06/11/2012 23:08

It's kind of hopeful tht a few of you found going from 1 to 2 harder than 2 to 3. Def having what are we doing mad panic at the moment! Dc3 is due April with dd's being 5 and 3. I am def a bit of a stressed shouty mummy sometimes Blush and don't know how I'm going to cope with another esp trying to get them all out of the house for the school run! Resigned to the fact that the internet will become my best friend for online shopping as not goin anywhere near a supermarket with 3 kids in tow! Anyone else got any tips on how to make life a bit easier with a larger family?

SeymoreInOz · 07/11/2012 03:45

I found going from 0 to 1 really, really hard! 1 to 2 wasn't so bad, no idea what to expect this time! I have also been the stressed shouty mum off and on during this pregnancy but I'm hoping it's hormones!

I gave up on the supermarket when I only had one DC. Internet shopping is a godsend!

pinkpeony4 · 07/11/2012 07:14

Cod we weren't trying for a girl either (still don't even know how you can try for a certain gender!) I liked the idea of 4 boys a lot but a little girl is a lovely surprise & I am intrigued to see a little girl with my boys and to see what a girl baby from us looks like!!!!! I have now also had a lot of comments about "being able to stop" now it's a girl Shock when we thought it was another boy we had a lot of horrified l

pinkpeony4 · 07/11/2012 07:17

Sorry pressed post too soon.

Horrified looks too as though 4 boys would be the worst thing ever!!

I found 2-3 totally fine and easier than 1-2. I was already used to juggling and having no time for myself and he just slotted in. I was out & about doing nursery run/playground etc after a week and honestly felt fine. I think a third speedy birth helped a lot too because physically I felt really well. I am hoping 3-4 is the same! I do my shopping at ocado, definitely Internet shopping is the way forward with many children!!!

CODwidow · 07/11/2012 13:50

pink I am also fascinated to see what a girl looks like from us and how different our family will become with a little girl in it Smile
Does anyone have any experience with strep b?? I had it with ds2 do will be checked this time, if I do have it how long do the antibiotics take during labour?

peterpie · 07/11/2012 14:31

enjay - I have have also sworn already that I won´t be going anywhere near a supermarket/shops with 3 kiddies in tow, I think that would cause me a breakdown!
My 2 DS will be 3 and 5 when no3 arrives. My 5 year old will be OK I am sure but my 3 yr old is another matter. He is a very clingy, Mummy do everything little chap, I think he is going to be somewhat jealous Grin

I just don´t get the general attitude to having several boys...the amount of people that seem to be over the moon that I am having a girl this time is bizarre to me

AppleCrumples · 07/11/2012 15:49

I always take all dcs shopping in the hols otherwise it would not get done! It is hard though (see ealier post re funny turn in asda) and once baby arrives I will save shopping til dh gets up and can have dcs while I do the shopping and stop in cafe have tea and cake :)

CODwidow · 07/11/2012 17:10

apple I always take mine as well can prove a bit more expensive but usually ok Grin

AppleCrumples · 07/11/2012 17:44

Last time I took them I picked up a cheap change mat. Ds1 had spotted it and was squishing it and when I picked one up he went 'yay a really comfy mattress topper' Grin

Agree it costs more to have them with me esp if dh comes too

Sams4lo · 07/11/2012 18:24

I've done the supermarket with mine a few times and the looks from others drive me mad :( so now I take just dc3 and leave the others with my brother :) I do worry about the comments when people realise no 5 is on the way, but touch wood I don't get too emotional lol love baby mouth and baby brain Grin

AppleCrumples · 07/11/2012 19:14

Oh sams yeah the looks! Now I'm obviously pregnant anywhere I go with all 3 I get such looks Shock Although some little old ladies smile and nudge their husbands Grin

Oodthunkit · 07/11/2012 19:44

I'm v rarely withall mine at once. People at toddlers etc just assume dd3 is my first and I take delight in saying she's my 3rd.
'how old are the others?'
'13& 11'
Shock
Grin

enjay0811 · 07/11/2012 20:06

Ha ha Ood I bet its so funny seeing the reaction Grin I'm 31 and have found it very amusing when people I don't no ask if its my 1st and tell them, no, my 3rd. Lol I work full time so people seem to think I'm mad having another. Not sure I can manage with full time work wen dc3 is here but don't have much of a choice money wise!

I'm having the same reaction about the same sex thing, have 2dd's so almost everyone has said bet your hoping for a boy this time! Uh, no! Angry

Oodthunkit · 07/11/2012 20:59

Yes! I'm 33 and look younger so that throws them too!
when I had my booking in appt this time the MW assumed I don't work which bugged me probably more than it needed to

LimeLeafLizard · 07/11/2012 22:23

I was told last year I was far too young to have 3 children - I was 36 at the time! Confused

And I also get funny looks if I am out with all three of them. It was particularly bad in the supermarket last week - normally I shop during the school day but at half term I didn't have a choice but to take them all. I'm sure people were looking at me thinking 'look at her with all those children AND SHE'S PREGNANT!' But maybe it is just paranoia - no-one has actually said anything rude, just the occasional tut if one of the boys has been too lively.

Pink my boys are 8, 4 and 2, so quite similar to yours! I expected a 4th boy somehow but as you say it will be interesting to see how a girl of ours is, and how she fits in with our family. Looking forward to it!

I also found 2-3 much easier than 1-2.

COD sorry I can't comment because I don't have any experience of Strep B. Hope you are ok.

Supermarkets are hilarious with them all when you catch someone counting them and then noticing my belly Grin it really depends what kind of mood I'm in to be honest as to how I deal with it. I'm 28 and people always comment on my age and I agree with the ooo is it your first?? No it's my 5th, the face always cracks me up! Grin
