I was going to join the other one but those luck ladies have had thier babies and are now talking all things newborn Envy.

So join me if you are fat and getting somewhat fed up!

I am 36+4 and a scan on Monday showed that DS is already weighing around 7lb 3 Shock. For that reason alone I'm hoping he puts in an appearance soon. Previous DC's have been 40+1, 39 and 39 and 7lb6, 8lb13 and 8lb12.5 so not so sure why this one is estimated to be so big!

Forty plus three today. Can hardly move but have ds1 who is three and can move then some! Sweep Wednesday no affect. Induction date sixteenth. Have had four false starts. And can't seem to get a tens machine anywhere except to hire which takes at least three days to deliver but he might come before!

DairyNips · 09/06/2012 00:16

Ginga - you tried Tesco pharmacy for a tens? I think I saw that they hire them out. I presume they have them on site so to speak. Might be worth a check?

EmilyD2012 · 09/06/2012 05:18

used2b this all sounds very promising, hope you're holding up ok. Keeping everything crossed this end!

Woken up with cramps but not getting excited yet...

used2bthin · 09/06/2012 05:18

ginga please tell me about the false starts? I fell asleep timing my pains-they were definately something, like early labour last time but they must have stopped because after some paracetamol I slept then woke up terrified with no movement.

Just spoke to assessment unit who said lie down, cold drink etc and baby has moved a few times but I may still go in for a check, gave myself such a shock as was convinced that me not going in last night had caused something awful to happen.

Kveta · 09/06/2012 06:57

Hope you are ok used. I had the same contractions thing last week. And will lamp the next person who tells me all these false starts are.getting my body ready.

I managed about an hour of sleep last night, just cannot get.comfy, and feel so sick all the time.

I feel like such a failure too, all the women in my family have babies before 40 weeks, most around 35-38. So none can understand why I am overdue a second time. Me included. Every phone call from my parents seems to be a bit disappointed in me for still being pg. I know they are not really, but there is all this anticipation, and no baby yet! Grr.

Oh well. 40+4. Not much longer I guess...

Kveta · 09/06/2012 07:01

Oh and FIL has been un MY bathroom for an hour now and I need to pee!

This is why house guests are a bad idea in late pg...

used2bthin · 09/06/2012 07:07

Thanks kveta, did your false starts seem very real and go on hours too? The pains were exactly like the start of labour with dd maybe slightly less painful I'm not sure. nothing much today just achey ness does that sound a similar pattern? So horrible, all that then nothing.

DD now up and very lively, she was up by 6. DH is snoring downstairs on the sofa Hmm

Not sure whether to carry on as normal and go to the wedding, go and get checked over (though movements are there now, think they are normal)or just stay home feeling bad about it all! I suppose if I am not in labour which I think I can now assume I'm not, then I may as well go to the wedding. Am embarassd by my massively fat face though, it looks three times the normal size!

Don't feel a failure, its not something you have control over. And yes CAN'T be too much longer now.

EmilyD2012 · 09/06/2012 08:47

Hmm tricky dilemma used2b - I think if it was me I would probably not go and then regret it if things didn't move along...how far away is the wedding? You'd have to take your hospital bag etc in the car with you I suppose. So frustrated for you :(

Completely understand the feeling like a failure Kveta, I was a bit snappy with my mum on the phone last night and then felt awful about it. But she makes me feel like I'm a disappointment every time I tell her that, yes, I am still pregnant.

Can't be much longer girls xx

used2bthin · 09/06/2012 11:43

I feel like just sleeping all day but am going to go I think. Need somethign to wear first! Hadn't even thought of hospital bag in the car, its not far but that is a good idea! And DD's stuff in case we have to drop her off. 3 and a bit hours for something to happen baby or you will be coming to a wedding.

Kveta · 09/06/2012 11:54

used2 yes, I had them last thursday night really bad, they went on for about 4 or 5 hours, roughly 7-8 minutes apart, then stopped Confused MW said she thought it might mean baby is back to back, but who knows.

I am finally getting some peace, DH has taken FIL and DS out for the afternoon, despite the weather, so I can either sleep or watch crappy films. I have a slab of pasturised blue cheese to eat for lunch too which he won't sit in the same room as, nom nom!!

my wee sister is asking me when baby will arrive now, as it's her birthday on the 20th, and she does NOT want her niece to share her birthday!! Nor do I, I would be 40+15 by then, and not a happy bunny at all. got to hope MW can come and do sweep tomorrow, and that hospital can induce me on tuesday or I will be utterly utterly miserable, plus a bit.

re: GBS - it hasn't even been mentioned this time, I didn't think to ask, but it is in my notes that I was +ve last time. will ask them to swab if I'm induced anyway. I want an early epidural this time, so will be going in at the first twinge of a contraction, so there should be plenty of time :o

Idratherbeknitting · 09/06/2012 12:19

Hi all, thought I'd check in.
It seems like we're all getting soooo close.

I'm having one good contraction per hour... it's what I did with DD3 for about 12 hours before ramping up to proper labour and delivery within 3 hours. So I'm really hopeful, but trying so hard not to think about it.

Used2b, I'd go to the wedding...if anything's going to make your LO appear it's you needing not to make a fuss infront of a load of people! Plus it will take your mind off things.

I'm in work today (we run a shop) and have a guy picking up a really expensive repair at 5pm, so I've got to hold on until at least then! (So secretly hoping we have to make a dash for it before then). But at least at the shop we're 9 miles nearer the hospital (it takes 40 mins from home)...

Good luck today everyone, one of us has to have a baby soon!

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 13:30

It's now 24 hours since my accupuncture and I can safely say it had no effect whatsoever! I am now 41+2 and I STILL haven't even had any sign of a contraction. Not even a rubbish one that doesn't hurt much! What's going on?! Even the shooting pains have all but disappeared... Even my sleeping woes have gone, so it's basically like i'm not even pregnant. Argh!!

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 13:32

It's kind of funny really... But I would really love to know what a 'twinge' even feels like. (Baby is still ok, I can feel it move, but just nothing else!)

McKayz · 09/06/2012 13:40

I found this website it has all sorts of ways to apparently induce labour. There are loads of links on the right hand side.

Even if they don't work it passes time reading and trying them.

Idratherbeknitting · 09/06/2012 13:44

Lucietea, get ready!!

Two nights ago I had the most blissfull all night sleep (not even needing the loo), and I thought I'd just be like this ferever...

Not so, I think I'm in early labour just now, and the 'twinges' are unmistakable! And getting properly painful. I've missed most of the thread (didn't want to join too early), is this your first?

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 13:49

Ah, thank you. However, I've been trying all the usual for the past 2 weeks already.! Apart from castor oil. Accupuncture was relaxing but didn't even get a tinge. We have a ritual of sex, walking, bath, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea every day, and have had the occasional spicy meal.. I don't have a birthing ball though. So maybe I'll buy a ball and do some bouncing. Ha ha! Have also been devouring the net for advice. I have had SO many texts today asking where the baby is..

Right - a birthing ball it is!
How is everyone else doing today?

McKayz · 09/06/2012 13:54

Lucie, I'm 38+2 and I'm sick to death of being asked if baby is showing any signs of arriving. I will have killed someone by the time I'm overdue.

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 14:02

That is encouraging! idratherbe thank you for that. I feel there may be hope yet! I think you're at about the same stage as me. My due date was 31st.. ( Hmmm, think that's been and gone! )Myself and hubby are going to go for extra long walk now , I'm gearing myself up for the 'big walk' as if we're off on a full on hike, when really we're just going to o a 'full' lap of our local park, not cutting through middle. Ah,And to think I used to RUN the long route once upon a time! Anyway, off we go. And that's great news about the twinges! It's funny how the word has seeped into everyone's understanding of what labour is supposed to be. I have friends who've never been pregnant asking about 'twinges ' . I AM pregnany and I don't know what is it.
Hope you have a twinge-tastic day idratherbe and labour follows very soon :-)

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 14:08

Oh mckayz.. You are in for a fun time if you go overdue..! At 38 +2 though, your friends and family really are very keen. Wow!

Idratherbeknitting · 09/06/2012 14:17

Twinges are a good sign...but I didn't have any until DD3!
DD1 was a CS after a very very failed induction,
DD2 was a full medical induction, but went from zero to full blown transition type contractions... requiring an epidural asap as I had a bit of a massive panic attack (still embarrised, but I had no idea how it would feel).
So to go into labour naturally with DD3 was actually quite lovely, with twinges that led to contractions and a swift delivery.

Hope the long walk does some good.

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 09/06/2012 15:20

Hi ladies. I'm still in the induction suite, still waiting my turn Sad. If they are much longer this little boy is going to be arriving tomoro-which is his dads birthday!

Had a show this morning-a proper one-I've never had a show before!

Poor old dh is faithfully sat beside me playing the waiting game too-I did tell him he could go home if he wants but he said he'd rather stay here.

Idratherbeknitting · 09/06/2012 15:34

BlueandRed, how frustrating! I had to sit for 2 days in the antinatal ward to be induced with DD2 (June 2006, was terribly hot) as my waters had gone. Time stands still doesn't it?

All the best, it doesn't sound like you'll take too much inducing.

I'm contracting about every 20 mins now, and am just deciding if I should leave the girls at their GP's tonight, or go get them after work. If I collect them I'll clearly have to take them back in the night...if I don't I know that I won't progress at all and feel like I had a cheeky night off.

Lucietea · 09/06/2012 18:07

Have a cheeky night off!

Still nothing from me.. Despite walking for about 2 hours! Hope your contractions still going strong!
Blueandred- hope all going well with you. Still waiting?

EmilyD2012 · 09/06/2012 20:34

Ooh Idratherbe it sounds like you're well on your way - yay for you!! Keep us posted on how you're getting on, sending lots of luck!

Likewise to you BlueAndRed, so happy things are finally happening for you! Let us know how you get on!

Lucie I know exactly what you mean about wanting to feel that twinge. I had a show 2 days ago and some contractions which tapered off...since then have reverted back to how I felt 3 weeks ago, no twinges, nothing :( It's so frustrating feeling like you're going backwards.

Really glad you got some time to yourself today Kveta -about bloody time! Hope all is ok there and you enjoyed the peace.

Any news from dairy?

EmilyD2012 · 09/06/2012 20:50

...and used2b, how was the wedding?!!
