I was going to join the other one but those luck ladies have had thier babies and are now talking all things newborn Envy.

So join me if you are fat and getting somewhat fed up!

I am 36+4 and a scan on Monday showed that DS is already weighing around 7lb 3 Shock. For that reason alone I'm hoping he puts in an appearance soon. Previous DC's have been 40+1, 39 and 39 and 7lb6, 8lb13 and 8lb12.5 so not so sure why this one is estimated to be so big!

Thanks Lime. I think it was a similar approach, but I got all this brown grot coming out of me just from her feeling for the cervix without being able to actually do anything with it. Sounds like I'm miles off going into labour Sad

Lucietea · 03/06/2012 23:51

Hello ladies - I'm 40+3 and not feeling anything to suggest labour imminent. It's my first so just don't have any idea. I Get occasional tightening feeling across my belly - is this braxton hicks? Thing is, they're not at all painful and i even think i quite like the sensation. So, is it just baby stretching?! Or could it be BH? Then there's people ask me if I've had any twinges. ( I get asked all the time!) what do they mean? I think the answer is 'no' but not sure what a twinge is! Is it a period pain? I get loads and loads of sharp pains down below which feel twingey, but think this is the babies head nestled in my pelvis causing sharp pains and been having this sensation when i walk for weeks. So what is a 'twinge'?! Also, feeling very deflated about missing all the jubilee fun! What about everyone else? I can hear loads of parties going on outside our window and we're at home in bed!

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 00:05

Oh,hell, Commuting where's this bloody list...
Welcome, Lucie got no clue about BH,you might be right about this tightening.Ask all these nosey cows whether they want to examine you to find out.Honestly, some people have cheek.

Lucietea · 04/06/2012 00:15

Yes Lime, everyone gets very nosey at this stage and feel as if letting them down with nothing to report!
I'm booked for a sweep on Thursday- jubilee means midwife place closed for two days so have to wait. Can you get a sweep at the hospital if you want one done sooner? Or is hospital just or labouring mums? It doesn't sound like the sweep is very pleasant anyway! Oh come on baby...! I was really hoping today would be the day... I wanted to wave at the queen from the hospital window. I'm at st Thomas's in London which is on the Thames. Missed our chance to get a ring side view of the fun! Ah well.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 00:23

Not sure about hospital policies, not convinced that you can just march into one and demand a sweep.I'm afraid you'll have to wait unless your waters break you'll go into labour.
I think it's the same all around the country, due to long weekend the hospitals are dealing with emergencies only as they have reduced staff on duty.I'm booked for induction on Wednesday evening which is the end of their timeline but was already told "only if there's bed available".So they (NHS) covered their backside offering me induction still within the timeline but if there's no bed-well,what can you/they do...

Was worried earlier on about the baby not moving a lot,now it's making up for the lack of movements.Feeling the pressure in my lower tummy, hope the waters aren't going to break in bed...

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 00:25

Spoke to MIL earlier in the day, said "hope this little bugger is going to come out soon".She told me off for calling her GC "names".Oh well,i suppose this one being her first will be spoilt rotten Hmm

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 00:27

BTW,I made a new list but i know my math skills aren't great,if I made a mistake somewhere please feel free to correct. Lucie add yourself to the list if you want to.

Lucietea · 04/06/2012 00:44

I get worried about lack of movement too, then something happens. Difficult thing to monitor. I'll wait till Thursday for a sweep and hope something happens of its own accord bef ore that! Nada so far...! I hope you get a bed on wednesday LimeFlower.

Commutinghell · 04/06/2012 00:57

Thanks Lime. It'd serve your hospital right if you went into labour of your own accord over the next couple of days Wink. You're right, I guess the end is in sight.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 01:05

Cheers Lucie

You're still awake Commuting? I still have to make some sarnies for DH for work (although if something happens he might not need them).I wouldn't mind going into labour mself if it's going to be not complicated one.If it comes to medically managed one I'd rather they had some qualified staff around...
I don't thin this is just my hospital, look at the list, how many of us have Wednesday on books, nobody has Monday or Tuesday,so reckon this is a case in whole country.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 01:07

Now,somebody is stretching in my belly a lot making up for previous lack of movements, what a relief :)

mrsshears · 04/06/2012 06:54

Morning ladies
Welcome lucie,i'm going to have another sweep on thursday too if nothing happens before then.
Well it's due date for me today, which will no doubt pass with no baby Hmm
Weirdly i had the best nights sleep i've had in ages last night, only up once for a wee and slept the whole night apart from that.
lime i keep getting worried about movements too,atm i'm just putting it down to my little porker not having anywhere to go,still unsettling though.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 07:15

Morning:)
Couldn't sleep-again.Went to bed about half past 1,woke up 3 hours later and that's it.Baby moving much more then yesterday so glad about that.
mrsshears you might be disappointed but please don't go bonkers mentally-it's not worth it and no amount of crying/wailing will help to bring the little bugger out.
We are having a "surprise",had a gut feeling about a boy, then not so sure.It must be a male kind because it's stubborn like a donkey and do amount of persuasion works.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 07:17

Just saw the forecast for this week-wet and miserable. It was frosty this morning.

mrsshears · 04/06/2012 07:28

limeflower bonkers does seem to be the pregnancy theme here Grin
I'm resigning myself now to the fact that this baby is looking more like taking after dd2 who was a week late.
Dh was is tears of laughter last night at that list of kvetas and was mixing up all sorts of things on the list into things i could do to bring the baby on,such as galloping around the garden whilst stimulating my nipples and eating licorice!! Hmm

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 07:39

:o :o :o
My DH doesn't know my connection to MN,sometimes just looks at me a bit Hmm when i'm laughing like mad.

SESthebrave · 04/06/2012 07:48

Morning!
Wet & miserable here too but no frost!
No plans for today so come on baby!!

Lime - we are also having a surprise but think its a boy. Pregnancy has been exactly the same as with DS (except for no awkward position this time requiring CS!)

mrsshears - have you got anything planned for today? Try and do something to distract yourself because for me personally, my due date was one of the most frustrating!

Welcome Lucie and hello to everyone else!

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 07:54

SES I started to think you were MIA.
I'm going to wait until the washing machine finishes, hang the washing and bugger off to bed.
Kitchen is a mess after last night cooking, don't care...

mrsshears · 04/06/2012 08:04

SES I think i will try and rope dh into planning something for today.
It's the only nice day of the week too so it would make sense there too.

LimeFlower · 04/06/2012 08:23

I was going to hang the washing outside but there's a few clouds on the sky, can't be bothered to hang it twice so it's on the air dryer.
Might go for a snooze soon as i slept just for 3 hrs-i think I'm well trained for night feeds.
Question for you ladies-if you're going to bf-have you got anything in your milk bar?Asking because i can't squeeze anything from my boobs.

SESthebrave · 04/06/2012 08:42

Lime - only minimal in my milk bar Grin my nipples to get a bit crusty and watery if I try a bit of nipple stimulation but nothing more. The best things to trigger production are a vaginal birth and little one latching on. Also don't forget that for the first few days the baby will literally need just a few mls of colostrum at each feed as their stomach won't take much more!

SESthebrave · 04/06/2012 08:57

Oh and that doesn't mean if anyone has a CS they can't BF. I had CS last time and managed. It can just take 24-48hrs longer for your milk to fully come in.

BlueAndRedAndWhite · 04/06/2012 09:14

Morning ladies Smile.

Still no baby, still got awful insomnia! Weather not so bad here but doubt it'll hold out long.

DH spent yesterday laying the new kitchen floor (tiles) and has this morning had to take some of them up Hmm we bought some adhesive from B&Q that was awful so took it back and got some branded better stuff, but he didn't take the ones up he'd already laid and this morning they are still lose! So I still have half a kitchen floor!
