Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Hello, late new joiner here.
I'm 18 weeks - due August 4th.
All seems to be going pretty well after an early bleed at 8 weeks - as with most of you no reason given but scan showed no probs and nothing since. Sickness has passed but I hardly feel blooming - still knackered all the time and regularly get faint feeling/ hot-cold flushes on the tube in the morning - still on the bright side, tends to get me a seat!
Eating for England and definitely showing - I'm in maternity clothes all the way, but the ones from last time are still too big - they mjst get pretty stretched by the end.
Looking forward to my 20 week scan next Friday. Will try to find out the sex if poss, not least to manage my dds expectations as she is convinced we're having a little girl called Lucy and won't hear of any alternative - secretly I hope she's right - I like little girls.

HAPPYFACE · 04/03/2004 07:18

Just to ask you all on the subject about names, i feel obsessed about not picking a name that can be shortened. my dd called Lucy and we find ourselves saying Lou or Luce mid-sentence-I HATE IT! Now trying to find a boys name that we both like but can't shorten, has been around for years oh and not too common! Only one seems to be George but seem to have it in the back of my mind it's a bit of an old mans name! Any ideas or suggestions, I actually also favour Jude but dh won't hear of it!

M2T · 04/03/2004 09:50

Welcome Sponge! I've got to wait until 22nd March for my scan. I want to find out the sex too. Be warned that my friend was told she was having a girl and out popped a boy!

Happyface - My friend called George gets called Geo! I think any name that's longer than 4 letters can be shortened. Especially if you live with a Scouser, DH has friends called Steven who get called Ste!

My ds is called Toby. We call him Tobes sometimes, or The Tobe-meister.

sponge · 04/03/2004 09:57

I like Noah although dh thinks it's "a bit religious"! Hard to see what you'd shorten it to though.

M2T · 04/03/2004 10:06

Sponge - What about "No"?

OP posts:
sponge · 04/03/2004 10:17

Ha ha, you're right. Trouble is he'd think people were calling him all the time!

sibble · 04/03/2004 18:15

I find if names are short they get lengthened. We chose jack last time as it couldn't be shortened but he gets called jackjack or jack spratt etc. I call him foo foo or foo foo butt!!!! he'll love that when he's 16 (heehee)
have chosen Sam this time for same reason and god help the first person who calls him sammy (if babe is a boy)!"!!! Somehow don't mind girls names being shortened.
on the subject of middle names ds has my surname as his middle name and will do the same with this baby, it's unusual, keeps my name going and he can double barrel it if he gets posh when he's older!!

eyelash · 04/03/2004 21:23

Couldn't resist - just popping in here from the October thread.

Sponge - All going well we have picked Noah out for a boy although dh does irriting scouse accent saying the kids will skit him at school asking him where his ark is. Must say though we love it. And it has nothing to do with favourite ER character!!!!

Sibble - Samuel was ds2's other possible name with Sam for short. btw - are you going to find out the sex.

Good luck to everybody else!

sweetkitty · 04/03/2004 22:46

welcome sponge you're due the same day as me! No need to ask what you were doing 16 weeks ago . I don't yet get a seat on the train or tube. My scan is not till the 5th April and we are asking what sex it is too although I'm so sure it's a girl too.

m2t sorry the pain has returned I'm in agony tonight bloody SPD! They should use it as a contraceptive in schools! Sorry not in very good mood this evening.

sibble · 05/03/2004 00:12

hi eyelash - glad you popped in was thinking about you this morning.
yes we are going to find out the sex, I am not keen but DH is again so we will. Plus I want to decorate the bedrooms, am not going to do anything drastic like pink or blue just yellow but am thinking accessories list to send DH to the shops with once it pops out and sex is confirmed. Anyway if it is a girl he had better get his thinking hat on or agree with Madeleine other than an arms length of kiwi names, unpronouncable to the rest of the world. Oh and we agreed on Sam after I put my foot down at the re-suggested Eric and Elvis(from DS1) and Stavros - neither of us are greek!!!he just thinks it's a blokes name. If I didn't think he was serious I would laugh!!!!
Good news, think the vitamins are kicking in as have felt great for past 2 days.
Bump is growing at the rate of knots so I look like I have something stuffed up my t-shirts but am back to the same weight as I was before got pregnant. Only when i got on the scales yesterday did I realised how ill I had actually been.

Quackers · 05/03/2004 08:56

Hiya, just popping in! I love Noah Eyelash, very cool!
Got my 20 week scan today. Don't want to know the sex, even though they won't tell me anyway but won't be able to resist peeking to see!!
Sibble glad you're doing well!

M2T · 05/03/2004 09:25

Sweetkitty - It's a bloody nightmare eh!? Feel okay today though.

My bump has just 'popped' out! And I'm getting proper thuds now from baby.

Quacks - Good luck today. What time is it at? I finish at 2pm and would really like to hear about it.
Sibble - It's rotten that you've felt so bad. I'm too scared to weigh myself though as I'd already put on 8lb by 9wks!

thanks m2t bit better this morning. People at work really commenting on my size now saying you're big for being due in August! I think it's because I've started wearing maternity trousers and skirts now and they make you look more pregnant.

I think I am getting flutterings now which is really exciting.

Good luck Quacks for this afternoon!

M2T · 05/03/2004 10:08

SK - Unfortunately people don't realise you're due at BEGINNING of August. If you say you're due at the end of July suddenly it seems SOOOOO much closer.
Now you're feeling the movements you'll be surprised how quickly they change to being quite obvious and strong.

OP posts:
sponge · 05/03/2004 10:25

God, I've put on a stone already and I'm only little!
Is anyone else feeling quite tender low down on the bump. I'm feeling fluttering but not enough to cause tenderness yet I wouldn't have thought. Maybe it's stretching - plenty of that going on.

Eyelash, glad you liked the name.

dinosaur · 05/03/2004 15:43

I'm so jealous of all those who are feeling lots of movement. I'm sure I was feeling more a couple of weeks ago - now I'm only getting very sporadic little flutters, only once or twice a day. Feeling quite down and paranoid about it

stace · 05/03/2004 19:47

Dinosaur - dont feel down or paranoid i dont feel all that much just sick and uncomfortable. No real baby kickings or anything. Some people dont feel anything for weeks and weeks like up to 22/24 weeks, chin up

sweetkitty · 05/03/2004 20:37

aww dino mine just little flutters too soon we'll all be fed up getting our ribs kicked constantly.

sibble · 06/03/2004 18:52

can hardly feel mine moving too but am sure everything is fine on account of how big I am getting. hang in there.

dinosaur · 06/03/2004 21:05

aw thanks everyone

feeling better on that score today - when we went to bed last night I got DH to put his hand on my tummy and he felt some really strong movements, so that was lovely

M2T · 09/03/2004 15:20

Where is everyone??

I have a question - I have noticed that the baby leaps and kicks from the moment I sit down after my dinner (8.30pm) until about 10pm. Then it stops I'm usually sleeping by 11pm. I have noticed that the baby starts moving at the same time every morning too.... usually between 6.30am-7am regardless of whether I have arisen and had a shower, or lying in bed.

Do you think this could be a nice 10pm-6.30am newborn sleeping pattern emerging?

OP posts:
dinosaur · 09/03/2004 15:21

Yes M2T, I'm sure you'll have no bother at all with this one.

M2T · 09/03/2004 15:50

Hope so.... it would be a novelty to have one that sleeps for longer than 2hrs at time!

sweetkitty · 09/03/2004 21:27

hi everyone how you all doing?

19 weeks tomorrow it's flying past, had midwives appt this afternoon was the same one as before . Still not very helpful, told her about my pelvic pain, she hadn't hear about SPD !!!?? and said to make a GP's appointment if it continues. My GP only has book on the day appts which means queuing up from about 7.30am in the cold until it opens at 8 then waiting around for an hour to see GP, so I have booked one with another GP instead for next week.

Did get to hear heartbeat for the first time though well after 5 mins of her searching for it and me having a heart attack, still alls well.

dinosaur · 12/03/2004 11:25

Hi all!

Glad you got to hear the heartbeat sweetkitty!

Got my scan a week today, so expect lots of nervous posts from me in the meantime!
