Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Sweetkitty - I've been getting this too if I sit down for too long.... and a dull aching in my right hip/buttock. But I had this with my last pregnancy (all be it later into it, but I was younger and thinner then!!). I don't remember it getting any worse than an irritating ache and paracetamol seemed to get rid of it if it was really getting me down. Hopefully this applies to you to....

How is everyone then??? Bit of a lull at the moment since we've all had our scans and are waiting for proper signs of movement. I'm still getting the odd flutter, but only feel it once or twice a day. 14+4 now!

I swear my life wwwhhhooooshing past me!

thanks m2t I think I panic at every little twinge as this is my first pregnancy and the books don't tell you half the story. I know what you mean about being in a lull, I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and still don't feel pregnant. I went out and bought a load of maternity clothes on Saturday mostly the staple black trousers and shirts for work but they are still to big and my normal clothes too small sitting at my desk today with my trouser buttons undone. Think this is pregnancy limbo.

SpringChicken · 10/02/2004 11:30

Know how you feel sk - I am 18+3. Majority of trouser are getting too small now - i am usually a size 12 but have a size 10 pair of maternity trousers, they are HUGE! They look like clowns trousers!

I am sitting at my desk now with my trouser zip undone! Hope no-one walks in!

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 11:35

Hi I'm a new one on here - due 31st August/1st Sept and so only 11 weeks gone (12 on monday and scan same day so v.excited!) but I can't wear any stuff from my 'normal' wardrobe but certainly can't wear maternity yet and so am debating buying some clothes in just bigger sizes but it seems a waste of money as i'll no doubt change size again soon! Feel v.unattractive as spotty and bloated and am dying for the pregnancy glow!

When did any of you start showing or is it yet to happen??

M2T · 10/02/2004 11:42

Definitely pregnancy limbo! Lolabelle - I toyed with the idea of buying a bigger size too, but thought it was a waste.... so I am living in stretchy black trousers at work and jogging trousers around the house. I started to feel things getting tight very wuickly this time. I have got a bump emerging under the flab, but it still isn't obvious I'm pregnant. I'm 14+4 weeks.

SC - I have bought a pair of maternity jogging trousers in a smaller size and they too are MASSIVE. What is very scary though is.......... in a couple of months we'll FIT THEM!

OP posts:
Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 12:06

I'm gutted I have to wait so long for a bump!! At least then i'll look pregnant rather than just 'more weighty' as my elderly neighbour said i was looking recently!!!!

I have two smart functions coming up soon - one when i am 14 weeks and one when i am 15 weeks and i want to look lush but fear i will look just fat!! A small bump would be good but its only a couple of weeks off so I'm doubting one will suddenly grow!!

Tracksuit bottoms save my life although my arse looks like a sack of potatoes in them!!

SpringChicken · 10/02/2004 12:20

Agree with the arse thing Lolabelle - My bum looks hideous in joggers - yuk

Is this your first ? If it is you might have a way to go yet! I am expecting my first and now only just starting to actually look pregnant rather than just "more weighty" ! It's horrible going through the stage of knowing your pregnant but everyone else just thinks you've put weight on! It'll soon pass though and as M2T says, we'll be in maternity wear soon enough and will be cursing it no doubt

sweetkitty · 10/02/2004 13:13

Well adding to this I'm a bridesmaid for my best friend when I'll be 22 weeks and she has taken my size 10 dress back and sent me a size 14 that I have to grow into instead! Things is it'll fit round the belly but be baggy everywhere else. Hopefully I'll look like a pregnant bridesmaid by then and not a big mauve blimp.

Happiness for me is getting home taking off tight trousers and thong and putting on maternity pants and jogging bottoms, bliss!

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 14:05

Yes Springchicken this is my first and I was hoping you wouldn't say that!! I kinda guessed that i'd have a long wait!!

I guess not having a bump yet means I won't be sick to death of it by month 7 but even just a small one would be nice!! I keep browsing through maternity clothes but feel silly so will just keep buying bigger sizes and abandon my old nicer wardrobe! God I feel a frump!

If it makes you feel any better I am being a maid of honour at my friends wedding at 29 weeks!! I may have to talk to her about that as it sounds heinous!!

dinosaur · 10/02/2004 14:20

Hah! Just duffed a bar of chocolate and guess what? Freddie rewarded me with his/her biggest kick yet!

SpringChicken · 10/02/2004 15:01

Wonderful Dinosaur - Get me a chocolate bar quick

Sorry Lollabelle - didn't meant to make you feel bad - just know how you feel, i was exactly the same - still am to a certain extent

Lolabelle · 10/02/2004 17:04

No worries Springchicken I am a bit over anxious for a bump at 11 weeks i think! I'm sure I will be moaning enough when i am the size of a house anyway!!

sibble · 10/02/2004 18:48

Hi everyone. I have a bump as well but am surviving in post DS clothes with tie waists as most of my normal clothes are too tight.
What a week, ended up being admitted to an assesment ward last thursday on Ds's 4th birthday as bleeding started again. Was up until that point fine about my bleeding as used to it. To cut a very long story short spent 5 hours being pulled and prodded, bloods, swabs, internals, scans etc and they are still none the wiser about the bleeding. While I am glad they were interested i am still puzzled why, having been bleeding for 7 weeks I had to be admitted within 24 hours and on DS's birthday. he was so good, playing with his toys in teh corner of the room all the time. Am on 'bedrest' (again) - try that with a toddler!! The outcome is that hopefully the bleeding will stop, if not they make an assumption it is a slow bleed from the placenta (too slow to show on scan) and only becomes a real problem at 28 (I think) weeks when there is a chance the placenta cannot sustain the pregnancy and you go into premature labour or the baby stops growing. So was sent home to keep fingers crossed it has stopped by then. BTW was nil by mouth for those 5 hours - I was green and shoving bananas, rice cakes and DS's picnic lunch in my mouth all at once when they said I could go!!!
But had my booking appointment yesterday and went well.
Hope this baby is a bit easier/less stressful once it pops out.
Am also sure can feel movement, am 14 weeks and midwife said is unususal before 16 for 2nd pregnancy but definate little flutterings going on when I am rested.
Oh and another sweet thing - DS got to see teh baby on teh scan and hear the heartbeat - he was so excited - smiling from ear to ear (shame Dh was at work!!!!and missed it). That's my baby he told the doctor.

sweetkitty · 11/02/2004 09:45

so sorry you're still having a hard time sibble must be such a worry for you, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I had an appointment card through for an antenatal interview with my consultant at the hospital - is this normal? I thought you only saw a doctor if you were high risk and the midwives did everything else. I'm also thinking of asking not to have the midwife who did my booking in appointment again as I found her rude and unhelpful - has anyone else asked not to have a specific midwife?

Oh 15 weeks today as well

dinosaur · 11/02/2004 09:56

sibble that sounds tough, but how sweet about your DS? Thinking of you...

sweetkitty...no experience with asking to have a different midwife - how many midwives are in your team - what are the chances of seeing the same one again? Also, she might just have been having a bad day...she might be nicer if you see her again?

Podmog - Unfortunately I am only entitled to a 12 wk dating scan..... no anomaly scan at 20 wks for me! I've having a battle with the NHS at the moment about it. I know it's nice to have a scan just to confirm you are pregnant, but I would much rather have the 20 wk one.

I am having to pay a small fortune to have an anomaly scan done privately since my local hospital closed it's labour ward. So I'm not feeling very lucky at the moment.

Great news Dino!

Sibble - You're really getting put through it aren't you! Hope things calm down for you.

I'm interviewing a doula on Sunday! Do you think I ought to admit to her that I swore at DH last time around???

M2T · 11/02/2004 12:20

Hi podmog - Yeah that's what I think and hospital I will go to deliver in do them routinely, but my postcode means I'm not entitled...... scandalous isn't it??!
I s'pose the important thing is that I'm having one done.... it's just scary to think that the health of babies is put at risk if you can't afford a private scan. They are £200!

I had 4 scans with my ds 3 yrs ago before they closed the labour ward. All changed now.

I'm getting SOOOO much heartburn already!

Have not been on here for a while but can now safely rejoin this thread .

Had scan this morning and saw my ickle babby kicking its arms and legs and saw the heartbeat beating away, so so releived after my bleeding that all is ok.

Only one in there as well, so no twins (phew).

Now I have to scrol down all these posts, will take me all day.

Quackers · 11/02/2004 15:50

Posted on other thread Olive! Glad all is well!!!!! Brill news!
I had my 16 weeks scan today too and all is well. Bubbs is a little small like DD so keeping extra eye on it and not letting me go overdue. It was lovely to see fingers etc... How do we do it!!

SpringChicken · 11/02/2004 15:58

Congrats OO - glad everything is hunky dory

How many weeks are you now?

sibble · 11/02/2004 18:28

Glad everything is OK for you OO.
Dinosaur - lol, had visions of you putting 10p in the swear box on the way out...
They do the '20 weeks scan' at 18 weeks here so only another 4 and will get to see baby again. We have to contribute to the cost of each scan, triple test here in NZ but the scans only cost $25 - $40 affordable for the majority but there are alot of people who go without as cannot afford it. Because of the bleeding I have had 4 so far (1 cost $300 as a Sunday!!!) if money was an issue I could imagine women going without and worrying themselves sick...

M2T · 12/02/2004 09:12

Great news OO! I was wondering where you'd gone.

Well this little baby is a right wriggler!! I'm getting fluttering almost everytime I sit down. It's so reassuring. I'll be 15wks tomorrow.

Nothing else to report.....except heartburn, heartburn and more heartburn!!
Oh and here's something new......... I seem to have developed terrible travel sickness!! Not long journeys or when I try to read something, but just normal 10 minute car rides I start to feel sick and dizzy. Anyone else had this????
