Big fingers crossed and hugs for you midget, thinking of you very much and hoping everything's OK. x

WantAnOrange · 04/05/2012 10:50

IT MOVED!!!!

Blush DH isn't here but I had to tell someone!

WantAnOrange · 04/05/2012 10:51

O Midget I missed your post. I think bleeding at this stage is fairly common and I hope you're ok.

CWest30 · 04/05/2012 12:51

Thinking of you midget and sending lots of hugs xxx

To cheer everyone up, I had midwife this morning and SHE FOUND THE HEARTBEAT!! I was amazed as I'm only 13 + 5. It was only really faint as obv baby is still really small, but she said its really good to hear it that early on, and that my uterus has moved up now too.

All I need to finish off this amazing week is for the council to offer us a decent price for our flat. Happy days :) xxx

Beeblebear · 04/05/2012 12:57

Oh midget! Please do go get yourself looked after. I'll be thinking of you today.

Midgetm · 04/05/2012 14:08

Thanks for your messages and support - it is much appreciated.

As I was waiting to be seen the bean was going crazy - wasn't sure if this was a 'get me the hell out of here - your womb sucks' crazy or 'get your arse out of EPU woman I am fine - either way it was making its presence very much known which calmed me down a tad. Eventually I was seen by a marvelous specialist. She has no idea why the sudden bleeding but thinks it was an old bleed. Maybe dislodged by such violent vomiting but not sure about that bit. My cervix is still long and closed (phew - I was dreading her saying it wasn't). She scanned me HB 160 BPM, very leggy little alien bean kicking away. She found it amusing as mainly used to early scans and said - blimey it looks like an actual child in there. Placenta is looking fine (I was worried about that). So happy that all looks good but always distrustful of the 'we just don't know' line in view of my history but relief is what I am feeling for now. The Dr was very lovely and didn't make me feel like a paranoid lunatic for going in.

Yay to Orange for the movements and thank you for all your support - I am absolutely knackered and starving so need to eat, sleep and get a hug. Managing to keep down some fluids and nibble food so thats looking on the up. Had to go alone to EPU as didn't want DD to see me so upset (and she doesn't know yet) - it was so draining. Must sleep x

LondonMrsS · 04/05/2012 14:21

Phew Midget! Very relieved to hear all is well, you must be exhausted. Has your sickness eased at all?

londonlivvy · 04/05/2012 14:24

Thank goodness all is well, Midget - so delighted.

In the meantime, I have an EXTREMELY painful, but not serious inflamation of the boobs. One has inflamed nip and surround (sorry for TMI) and stabbing pains into the boob. I have had to take my bra off (at work - oh good lord - I am 32GG - this ain't good) and shove a plastic bag with warm wet tissues in down my top to soothe it. This is on the basis that a warm flannel worked well at home the other day. Other boob is also sore but not as excrutiating. Any ideas why this is happening? I have an immediate pain-solving solution (if an undignified and slow solution) but ideally would like to prevent it!

thanks everyone.

HaggisNeepsTatties · 04/05/2012 15:39

midgetm so glad that everything is ok!
London no idea in the boob thing I'm afraid but hope it doesn't last too long!

Don't have time to catch up properly with everyone, but looking forward to the extra day off for the bank holiday with no plans apart from getting my hair done tomorrow!

Midgetm · 04/05/2012 16:02

Thanks Ladies - London also no idea what the boob thing is - sounds more like how I was when the milk came in (and when I got mastitis - ouch) but don't recall having it in pregnancy (but we do block some stuff out to make us do it again). I shall consult my baby bible for you and see if it offers up any words of wisdom.

londonlivvy · 04/05/2012 16:11

Thanks Midget much apppreciated. I've had it a few times before since I've been preg but it's tended to be in the evenings - i've popped a warm flannel on and within 15 mins it's all good. This has now been a couple of hours of proper wince-making OUCH.

Maybe will take a detour to the drop in centre on the way home to see if they know what it is and why I'm getting it. Maybe it's cos I'm wearing underwired bras? Dunno - i have had it when wearing my sports bra though (which is not).

FjordMor · 04/05/2012 16:32

Midgetm - So glad everything was ok - I've been out all day but managed to see your post on here but not to reply as I was mostly driving. Was worried for you but keeping fingers crossed it would be some odd side effect of your bug xx

I'm with velo and experiencing something a little like londonlivvy reports - if my boobs get at all cold I get this searing pain from my nipples right down through my boob into my body - I liken it to 'brain freeze' but in my nipples. There is no skin inflammation though. The only thing that soothes it is time and getting them warmer. Well refrigerated supermarkets are a nightmare! I don't think it's anything serious - just putting it down to nerves and hypersensitivity.

squid - glad to hear that it sounds like you have a bit of support from your team. Fainting doesn't sound good. Perhaps try and eat more? Perhaps you're a little low salt?

I'm not feeling daily movements at all but while playing music and lying on my left side on the sofa last night I felt what I can only describe as a super-strong 'heart beat' in my left pelvis/hip area that almost lifted me off the sofa they were so strong...like a sofa earthquake. I'm thinking they must have been kicks it was so weird (and not wind). Otherwise, my bump seems to have gone down a bit - quite relieved it was partly poo-bump but also perturbed by the shrinkage. Felt much more energetic today with none of my usual 'high-carrying' breathlessness. Gonna chase up the midwife/scan as I'm itching for some more 'news'.

londonlivvy · 04/05/2012 19:06

Well my boobs were still agonizing at 430 so I went to the local drop in clinic. Doc diagnosed early stage mastitis and I have antibiotics. I feel so sore. Now home with ice cubes on boobs and a book. Poor DF is not going to get the much promised date night, it seems!

Doc said underwires could be contributing factor so I tried debenhams for a soft cup bra on my way home but they had nothing in my size. I'll get up to bravissimo tomorrow instead.

londonlivvy · 04/05/2012 19:07

Thanks everyone for the moral support BTW. Much appreciated.

Guccigirl79 · 04/05/2012 21:03

Oh London that sounds very nasty, make sure you look after yourself :)

Midget glad you had some reassuring news you must've been terrified xx

Had a couple of nights of broken sleep (which is not like me) so I guess I'm going to have to get used to it! first night I was mythering over a travel system we'd looked at & last night I dreamt I'd had the baby but had forgot to feed it for 24hrs so I'm hoping I dont have anything horrid to dream about tonight!

FjordMor · 04/05/2012 21:37

Guccigirl - I had that dream more or less! One dyhydrated baby making no noise & all red that I had forgotten to feed! Luckily it was shortly followed by a flowing milk/perma-breast feeding dream Blush to balance it out! Perhaps it's a classic sub-conscious baby-anxiety dream?

Midgetm · 04/05/2012 22:47

Oh LL mastitis is the work of Satan. Poor you. Good job they got it early, makes you feel wretched so make sure you are tucked up. Still feeling awful and can't get out of bed or eat much, already lost all the weight I've put on. Here's hoping its mended by a goods night sleep. Night all c

milk · 05/05/2012 07:26

Since being pregnant, I find all my fears are being amplified in my nightmares :( I wake up thinking I'm heavily bleeding or awaken with my heart racing after thinking I was in a falling lift. Anyone else had this?

YompingJo · 05/05/2012 07:46

Morning all! It's a bank holiday weekend, yay!!! Grin. I have to write 13 reports by Monday night, boo!!! Confused. But, life is good, and the baby is growing (although still not kicking, grr).

So, a few bits of interest from me today (as I am, as usual, procrastinating by browsing the internet before getting down to work!)

Firstly, like like like! Ha ha ha this is exactly what all sexy men should be saying, preferably in my house. Although there was a distinct lack of Chris Hemsworth . Disclaimer: This is not to say I don't appreciate my own man, DH is lovely, and sexy, and says lovely things all the time.

Secondly, for any geeks astronomically minded people out there, I am reliably informed by APOD (the Astronomy Picture of the Day) that tonight's full moon will appear to be massive as it is also the moon's closest point to the earth for a year - so worth a look out if the skies clear. Moonrise in Southampton is 8:10pm tonight, check out this site to find out when it is for you.

Thirdly, on the nice maternity bras front, I have had a success - my things from Figleaves arrived and both bras are lovely and fit beautifully. They are non-wired, not nursing bras, and I actually feel sexy in them rather than feeling like I look like a nun (copyright Squidkid). One is by Panache and is called the Sophie Support Bra (NOT the nursing bra) and one is by Rocye and is called the Darcey Comfort and Maternity Bra (and is thankfully a whole lot more attractive than it sounds!). The Royce one might have come out a little small, as they were out of stock of my size so I went up a cup size and it fits fine, which makes me wonder whether the proper cup size may have been a little snug. Anyway - finally some nice non-wired bras, win!

Lastly, since lots of people have mentioned terrible skin, I still recommend Dr Hauschka - the £17.95 starter kit will last for a good couple of weeks, long enough to see if it will make a difference. I feel like I'm pampering my skin rather than despairing of it and it is definitely much better after just 1 week. I sound like an advert for them, sorry Blush, but finding something to stop the grease has made me feel lots better.

London, sympathy and Thanks coming your way, that sounds horrible, but hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly and take away the pain. And Midget, I missed your posts, but I'm very relieved for you that it's nothing to worry about. Get well soon!

My 20-week scan is on the 21st May, 2 weeks away. I challenge the baby to move before then!

Yomping, 36, 18+1, DC1

WantAnOrange · 05/05/2012 08:49

I had the first definate kicks last night. They were quite strong and could be felt from the outside. Of course as soon as DH put his hand on my tummy it stopped!

WantAnOrange · 05/05/2012 08:51

London apparently cold cabbage leaves are very good for soothing boobs. They are just the right shape.

DameFlatYouLent · 05/05/2012 12:04

Yomping we're scan buddies! I'm on 21st May too. Thanks for bra tips, will check out figleaves. I'm after non-wired padded bras...do such things even exist?!

YompingJo · 05/05/2012 12:17

Dame, yay, only 2 weeks to go! T-shirt bras tend to be padded although it's quite thin padding - M&S has lots of non-wired T-shirt bras. Never in my life have I talked so much about bras Grin Confused

I have written 3 out of today's 6 reports so far. Totally losing the will to live... even put some cushion covers in the wash earlier just to have a break!

Zoeplankton · 05/05/2012 12:18

Hello all...

Very glad it's all OK, midget.

At the pharmacy earlier this week, I asked the pharmacist to test my blood pressure as my family has a high BP in pregnancy history... Apparently my BP is something over 50, and something over 60 is apparently super-low! Google tells me that this 18-21 week-ish stage is a low BP time, so I'm not too worried, but it does explain why I feel faint sometimes. There don't seem to be any quick-and-dirty solutions apart from eating salt - so crisps it is! :D

Zoeplankton · 05/05/2012 12:23

...boobs-wise, I went to Bravissimo this week (after learning that 'to pop out of one's bra' is NOT, as I thought, a metaphor) and... Gasps at the ready... I am now a size 30F. Holy Moly.

The bras weren't cheap (£30 each), but I try to price my time, and the cost of the bras was way less than the time cost of toddling off to M&S and John Lewis and confirming that no they don't make that size. So I coughed up, and can recommend (underwired) big girls bra brand 'freya'. Pretty, but also escape-proof.
