Or maybe it is worse this time because I am so much older?

The tiredness is appalling, I am dreading the week at work ahead. I have parents evening (three late nights) coming up and I really don't know how I am going to cope. The more tired I am the sicker I feel too. I can't concentrate on anything properly because of the sickness. I am talking crap and I forgot how to spell porridge whilst writing it on the board Blush

I have severely held it against my DH because I am too knackered and sick to go out to a friend's birthday celebration tonight (obviously it is his fault Grin).

God, I am a moaning old cow already and I am only nine weeks. Hopefully this will stop soon. and then I start complaining about the indigestion

Early pregnancy is horrible.
Upset stomach, horrible fatigue, aching muscles, night sweats, huge hormonal surges, painful boobs, nausea....

And people who dont have crap early pregancy symptoms or have forgotten/never been pregnant rolling their eyes at you for being such a wimp.

Its like flu and a hangover plus PMT for 3 mths.

I felt knackered with DCs 1 & 2 but I didnt get all the horrible sweats and stomach problems.
I put that down to my age with DCs 4 & 5.

I thought I was getting early menopause both times Blush

this reads like the june ante-natal thread last autumn :o

we're now at the SPD/sciatica/heartburn/misc. cramping stage.

I bloody hate being pg this time - with DS it was bad (vomiting daily for 1st 16 weeks, absolutely exhausted, nausea until about 22 weeks, then uncomfortably big by about 34 weeks). but that time I managed to move from the US to the UK, then move house in the UK, and start a new job.

this time, I am still throwing up from time to time at 28 weeks, SPD developing, heartburn (didn't have it at all last time), and the cruellest symptom of all - insomnia. haven't had more than about 2 hrs sleep a night since 6 weeks.

Never doing it again...

AliceHurled · 17/03/2012 19:05

No Kveta! Don't say this! At 12 weeks, a switch flicks and we bloom. We radiate joy and energy. Tis true, it must be!

oikopolis · 17/03/2012 19:16

am 13 weeks today and my God were weeks 8 to 12.5 utterly grim. There was definitely a point at which I thought "right, i am not doing this again, ever"

exhaustion
horrific nausea
constipation
painful gas
complete loss of appetite, BUT have to eat every 2 hours or will vom bile

really horrid, and i am never going to let another person say "i'm just pregnant, not ILL!" to me ever. again.

vezzie · 17/03/2012 20:17

I'm so sorry, OP, and all of you.
There is a horrible twisted anti-logic to how horrible you feel in early pregnancy: if you felt like that one day, you'd call in sick, but because you feel like that every day, you can't. HOW on earth does that work, exactly?
I am not pregnant. I am just, erm, acknowledging the VILENESS (and sort of keeping a promise to myself made in pregnancy never ever to take feeling sort-of-alright for granted again)
good luck all you heroes!

bugster · 17/03/2012 20:40

I'll never forget how horrific early pregnancy was for me on both occasions, and never want to be sick again in my life.

I ended up tlleing my boss at about 9 weeks because I felt so awful and couldn't cope with the demands he was making on me. I then got a sick note for 2 weeks from weeks 10-12, when my doctor predicted correctla that I would start to feel slighltly better. Then I could just lie there (with number 1).

Could you consider going to the doctor and getting sick leave, if you have a tough time at work at the moment?

language · 17/03/2012 20:42

I do feel for you, ladies! I also feel nauseous and tired all the time. It's my 3rd pregnancy, 8 weeks, and I even wake up in the night because I feel nauseous - it never happened to me before! And I have to take care of 2 very energetic boys and work and try to be nice to my husband! My only escape is reading a lot - somehow it distracts me from the aches and pains.. although of course I have little time for reading.

BubbleBobble · 17/03/2012 21:53

offers tea and sympathy

I have THE best trump card to play with now. Pregnancy is NOT an illness, but I was more 'ill' during pregnancy than I have been during cancer treatment. I had hyperemesis when I was pregnant and couldn't even move my head without retching at one point. Chemotherapy has been a breeze in comparison.

hanmord · 17/03/2012 22:11

I am in week 10 and thank goodness morning sickness has been better over the past couple of days (fingers crossed) I found a product called lillpops - they are ice pops with delicious flavours, all natural and have definitely helped me!
Hope this helps
:)

Stumbleine · 18/03/2012 09:11

I'll join you for a good whinge Smile

I an 9 weeks with my third and can't believe how awful I've felt compared to my other pregnancies. I am constantly nauseous, occasionally sick, exhausted, fat, have that many spots it looks like I have measles, the list is endless. The best bit thought is the horrendous reflux which means 90% of foodstuffs make me retch pure acid all night long!

And as for exercise [hollow laugh], I am supposed to be doing my dissertation at the moment and it is even to much physical effort to sit at the computer and concentrate on that most days.

I feel like I'm becoming a recluse because the thought of facing the outside world looking and feeling like this brings me out in a sweat!

josel · 18/03/2012 10:26

I'm only on week 6 but feel like I've got permanent jet-lag. I think I've broken the world record for a single yawn which I swear lasted 5 mins.
Not had MS (didn't with the last one either) so I sympathise with you all on that one, but the flippin' constipation sucks. Feel like I'm overdosing on linseeds and Fibregel....

JaneB1rkin · 18/03/2012 10:34

Oh don't! I had the sort of 'hyperemesis' (Dr said, though I'm not sure if I qualify!) which doesn't involve the vomming, just being permanently on the brink of it, for the first 18-22 weeks of both of mine and I know I will find it hellish to go through again, though this time I think I might get away with it a bit more due to having found some anti-sickness pills that seem to work...we'll see.

We're ttc at the moment. I'm scared about it but so much want another baby.

Has anyone had a GOOD third pregnancy? And I'm old now too (38)

AliceHurled · 18/03/2012 10:34

Where did you get the lillpops from hanmard?

HumphreyCobbler · 18/03/2012 10:36

I think I am most put out that my heroic efforts at carrying on are not being appreciated. I think I will do exactly what I want to do and bugger off to bed for the next week.

If only I cuold.....

I hear you. I am 7 wks 4 days with my 3rd and feel utterly awful. It's just awful. I end up in tears often and am not usually a pathetic person, more a get on with it type. It's AWFUL! You feel much iller than you do when you are ill. It's basically having a sick bug for weeks and bloody weeks.
I've still got so many weeks to go too.
Definitely never again. (I am writing this from upstairs with all the doors shut and windows open in case I catch a whiff of the lasagne DH is making for mothers day lunch because it really will make me hurl. However if I go down and see it on the plate all ready, there's a chance I might be able to eat some and if i do it's less likely I will be sick. But I won't enjoy it one little bit. Honestly the whole situation is ghastly isn't it?

nalubeadsgirl · 18/03/2012 11:39

I'm only 6 weeks pg and I'm exhausted! Really really not going to grumble tho, lost our first at 17 weeks, so just trying REALLY hard to remain positive. :) I can cope with any illness so long as we get a baby at the end this time! :)

6 weeks, bloated and can't stop crying. But so happy too Grin

AngelDog · 18/03/2012 12:59

Me too - just 7 weeks with my 3rd pg.

But I have started wearing Sea Bands and they have really reduced the nausea (I'm not actually sick). I wish I'd found them last time.

edemame · 18/03/2012 16:04

Good, it's not just me. I didn't enjoy the first pregnancy and was pretty set that he'd be an only, until hubby talked me into a 2nd. I'm 11 weeks and could bite heads off and snap at just about anything. Look at me wrong and I'm likely to cry. I feel yucky, can't sleep well, don't want to eat, have lost 2+ kilos, broke 3 dishes by just letting them drop to the floor, put the milk where the glasses go, forgot to brush my teeth for two days and caught the coughing flu/cold thing that everyone else has so I threw up for 2 weeks every time I coughed... Sob sob, this is our last one.

StuckUpTheFezziwigTree · 18/03/2012 16:08

Actually enjoying reading this as I know in not alone. Everyone I meet that's pregnant looks blooming.

I'm knackered, miserable and look like shite.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 18/03/2012 16:12

Depressingly, I'm now 12 weeks and still no sign of a respite. I feel like I'm hideously hungover all the time. I only feel normal while I'm eating so I just eat all the time Blush. My annoying SIL does the "it's not an illness" routine when anyone tells me to take it easy in her presence. I could throttle her as I'm not hamming it up and did my last pregnancy with great ease but it's really bloody hard this time round now that I'm an old bird.
