I think I am pregnant but DP says no!

We have been trying to conceive for only one month and I am now 11DPO and did a pregnancy test (Tescos own) this afternoon. It came up with a faint line (two lines) - so BFP in my opinion. My DP was convinced that it can't be positive as the line is "too faint". So I did another one (Predictor test) this evening and again a faint BFP (two lines). His response was the same - "too faint" so not pregnant. I explained to him that the earlier the pregnancy the fainter the line etc. He wanted his mothers opinion (he can't do anything without her and I it drives me mad) so I agreed and we showed her and asked her opinion. She is not the nicest woman in the world and looked as sour as a lemon when I showed/told her. She said the same as her darling son, probably not as "too faint". So I have told 2 people and neither of them gave me a hug or congratulations.

I am being silly? Am I pregnant? I am doubting it now.

My faint line is asleep upstairs at the moment. It never got dark, I gave up testing after 2 weeks.

Catsmamma · 28/02/2012 20:27

Just wait nine months!

KatieScarlett2833 · 28/02/2012 20:28

Both my faint lines are studying for their S Grades/Highers.

Is DH afraid of getting his hopes up?

blackoutthesun · 28/02/2012 20:29

a line is a line

congrats and ((hug)) Smile

100years · 28/02/2012 20:29

Congratulations Grin

My faint line on testing on CD26 has just gone down to sleep.

NeedlesCuties · 28/02/2012 20:29

When is your period due? The advice is to do it first thing in the morning (when your pee is strongest) from the day your period is due.

Plenty of people fall pregnant within the first month of trying, so your DP is being in denial if he thinks that it can't happen.

Is this a planned baby by both of you? Is he generally supportive?

I find it a bit odd that he wanted his mother's opinion, but if you're happy enough with that then I won't judge you for it.... but if you aren't happy with involving her at every turn then speak up now otherwise you'll have him running to her every 2 minutes.

You might be pregnant, you might not be. Try again in a day or so, when your period is due.

But, speaking from the experience of someone who has had 2 pregnancies - one conceived after 2 months of trying, and one conceived after one month - it can happen :)

I got PG on my honeymoon, one month after coming off the pill.

Kayzr · 28/02/2012 20:30

My first 2 faint lines are in bed asleep and my third is due in 16 weeks.

MrsSnaplegs · 28/02/2012 20:30

Congratulations a line is a line - both of my faint lines are asleep upstairs as well Grin

ANTagony · 28/02/2012 20:31

At some point makes book in appointment with a midwife.

topknob · 28/02/2012 20:32

My faint line is almost 11 ;)

TheSinglePringle · 28/02/2012 20:33

My faint line is trying to sneak out of bed! So congratulations!

I did so many tests because I didn't believe a faint line was right

ShowOfHands · 28/02/2012 20:33

You're pregnant. The faint line is caused by hcg (human pregnancy hormone), you have to be pregnant or on some quite specific drugs to get a line.

Congratulations.

gardenpixies32 · 28/02/2012 20:35

Thanks for the responses everyone. It has made me feel slightly better.

Needles - Definitely planned, I think he is in shock as he didn't expect it to be so soon, nor did I TBH. He can't fart without his mother. It is a major issue in our relationship. I don't usually entertain the "ask/tell mummy" but when it came to this, I wanted her to tell him yes and be excited for us. But no, she brushed it off and then started talking about her dog. It did make me feel tearful but I didn't say a word. He would be happy about it but I don't think he quite believes it yet.

DH told me the lines were too faint second time round (with a pitying look on his face as we'd be trying for a while and I was a bit on the edge at POAS time) but I knew they weren't and my lovely DS2 is asleep upstairs.

Congratulations Grin

TheCrunchUnderfoot · 28/02/2012 20:38

Congratulations!!

Get Mummy Dearest kicked into touch NOW.

oikopolis · 28/02/2012 20:38

Congrats!

I had an extremely faint 2nd line at 11DPO. But by 14DPO it was dark as night.

A line is a line, those hormones wouldn't be present if there was no little bean to set them off!

beckyboow88 · 28/02/2012 20:38

My line was so faint that it took about 5 tests to notice, I went back through the bins and sure enough, it was there all along but VERY faint. Congratulations!

AWimbaWay · 28/02/2012 20:39

Congratulations! Like others have said, a line's a line, I'd say you're definitely pregnant! Grin

You'll be able to do the smug told you so in a few days when the line gets darker.

Tonksforthememories · 28/02/2012 20:39

As has already been said, a line is a line, faint or not.

Congratulations! :o

MeconiumHappens · 28/02/2012 20:40

Faint line is still a line. Pregnant, congrats!
Lesson learned here, dont entertain or encourage the 'ask mummy' situation, its not going to end in your favour. Lots of thick people think a faint line isnt a positive. im 7 months preg with the faintest line possible, a real squinter. I dont think your hubby means to be a dick, jut being tentative about it. Wait a couple of days then do a clearblue digital in the morning and show him the words 2pregnant", will do the trick. ps MIL sounds like an old troll. You'll have fun with her :s

caramelwaffle · 28/02/2012 20:41

Congratulations.

KatieScarlett2833 · 28/02/2012 20:42

And congratulations!!!

Ah ladies. Thanks so much. I am so glad I posted. I am smiling again. This is NOT how I pictured my first positive pregnancy test to be! Can't wait to tell me mum! I am so excited!
