I think I am pregnant but DP says no!

We have been trying to conceive for only one month and I am now 11DPO and did a pregnancy test (Tescos own) this afternoon. It came up with a faint line (two lines) - so BFP in my opinion. My DP was convinced that it can't be positive as the line is "too faint". So I did another one (Predictor test) this evening and again a faint BFP (two lines). His response was the same - "too faint" so not pregnant. I explained to him that the earlier the pregnancy the fainter the line etc. He wanted his mothers opinion (he can't do anything without her and I it drives me mad) so I agreed and we showed her and asked her opinion. She is not the nicest woman in the world and looked as sour as a lemon when I showed/told her. She said the same as her darling son, probably not as "too faint". So I have told 2 people and neither of them gave me a hug or congratulations.

I am being silly? Am I pregnant? I am doubting it now.

Grin @ LydiaWickham

(Apart from the fact she clearly has great taste in books, that line is genius)

Happenstance · 29/02/2012 08:05

one feint line is sat on my knee, the other is giving me a solid kicking (4 weeks to go :)) a line is a line congratulations.

KatAndKit · 29/02/2012 10:04

my feint line is kicking me from the inside, I also tested at 11dpo! He's due in 6 weeks. A line is a line. My first one on a cheapy dipstick test was barely visible to the naked eye! So congratulations :)

My own mother is all poo poo ish about early pregnancy tests, didn't have them "back in the day" and all that.

When you get to 15dpo do a digi - doesn't have to be a spendy clearblue one, there are ownbrand digis too, but seeing it in words should be enough to convince them!

McBaby · 29/02/2012 11:13

Just beware I had feint lines but it took 3/4 days for the clear blue digital to say pregnant!!!

I did lots of tests as it was a bit of a shock and didn't believe it till I could read it.

faintpinkline · 29/02/2012 12:25

Where do you think i got my nickname from?

I'm 17 weeks gone. Heard the heartbeat on Monday morning at midwife's it was lovely :)

mildertduck · 29/02/2012 12:41

My faint line on an internet cheapie is currently kicking me in the ribs - and mine was from the first go too

gardenpixies32 · 29/02/2012 12:42

Thanks again to every one who replied.

Just an update - I did a Clear Blue Digital test about 10 minutes ago and it said Pregnant 2-3 weeks!!!!!!! I am so pleased. I just wish DP had trusted me all along. It should have been a happy and joyful experience. Oh well! Will keep you posted on the dreaded MIL!

Thanks again x

Congratulations !!!! Xx

KatAndKit · 29/02/2012 12:45

yay!!!! hope he is suitably apologetic. Probably he was in denial that it could happen so quickly.

Massive congratulations :)

Eglu · 29/02/2012 12:46

Congratulations op I hope your DP is suitably apologetic when he sees it.

My dh was shocked when I got pg with ds1 first month of trying, so can sort of understand his behaviour.

LydiaWickham · 29/02/2012 12:48

Yay! Now to make the most capital out of "it's been so horrible for the last couple of days with no one believing me..." oh and "the baby wants [insert whatever foodstuff you fancy that your DP will have to do an emergancy dash to 24 hour supermarket for]"

ahhhhhpushit · 29/02/2012 12:49

Ooo cant wait to hear what mil says!!

Congrats!!! :D

DanJARMouse · 29/02/2012 12:50

My faint line just turned 5 at the weekend! Grin

NoDontLickThat · 29/02/2012 12:56

Just caught up with the rest of the thread Blush

Congratulations op!!!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 29/02/2012 13:01

Congratulations :)

My First Month of Trying is currently putting her cold feet all over me Hmm

My Faint Line is asleep on me finally and stopping me having a wee Hmm

Be careful what you wish for :o

Kveta · 29/02/2012 13:05

congratulations!

I never had faint lines, but did have 3 different 'we'll just try this once and see what happens' experiences - the first is at nursery just now, the second was a mc, and the third is kicking me because I've just had some lunch and she's woken up :o

so it can happen very quickly :o

oh, and my DH was very meh about the pg tests, but less meh about finding me throwing up in the sink every evening for months - some people take a while to believe that the pregnancy is real!!

BikeRunSki · 29/02/2012 13:07

Those Clearblue digis are brilliant at convincing the most sceptical of men. (I found that they undercooked me by about a week when compared to menstrual dates and scans, so you may even be 3-4 weeks pg!).

I have two First Month of Tryings Only Believed It When I Saw It In Words.

Congratulations Grin

south345 · 29/02/2012 13:08

Yes a line is a line mine was really faint at first

eurochick · 29/02/2012 14:23

Your MiL's reaction is really a gift. As someone else said up the thread, you can now say whenever she disagrees with you "what does she know, she can't even read a pregancy test/didn't believe me when I knew I was pregnant".

Congratulations.

goingmadtrying · 29/02/2012 14:34

congratulations!! please let us know what dh/mil says now???? ;)

KatieScarlett2833 · 29/02/2012 16:41
