Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Mrs find hypnobirthing the Morgan method and really read it, my last two births the midwife hasn't believed I've been in labour till the baby was crowning, which in fairness made the last ten minutes very funny both times! I won't lie and say it doesn't hurt but in a normal birth the techniques in that book made it ok.

My lovely 6 year old is making breakfast for her sisters while I focus on not being sick! Have to do the school run this morning, I managed to palm it off last week but I walk with friends and feel sick when I walk at any decent speed! Dreading it, but gp at 9.20 really nervous right now about that.

NeedlesCuties · 19/12/2011 07:56

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

Now I'm just feeling sick all the time, like I have a hangover, but haven't drunk anything.

Urgh!

Mechavivzilla · 19/12/2011 11:08

Thanks for the kind words :) Judging from my last period date, I am 18 weeks pregnant. Better not be! I have been doing everything wrong! Have an early scan, hopefully tomorrow.

I haven't been too emotional so far, so not looking forward to that! Very bloated and queasy though. Like you said needles, a hangover and a period all at the same time. Delightful. Anyone thought about birth plans yet?

NeedlesCuties · 19/12/2011 12:50

mechav I wouldn't mind a birth like the one I had with DS.... only this time I don't want a 2nd degree tear that gets infected and takes 7 months to heal!!

Nah, seriously though, you have plenty of time to think about birth plans. Think first about what hospital you're going to have the LO in and try to speak to other mums who have given birth there.

Angel786 · 19/12/2011 14:27

quick question all

Anyone found their morning sickness has subsided? Last time around it lasted from 6/7-12 weeks and was pretty much constant. This time I had it badly from weeks 6-7.5 and now it seems to have disappeared, I don't miss it (!) but was getting worried it could be a bad sign?

NeedlesCuties · 19/12/2011 14:31

angel not everyone even gets morning sickness at all, so try not to worry. With my last pregnancy I was hardly ever sick, but a friend who was pregnant around the same time as me was sick as a dog for the whole time!

Enjoy this period of feeling okay, once you get to about half way and are doubled over with heartburn you'll know all about it Xmas Wink

Clarajinglebumps · 19/12/2011 14:32

hello...i've just POAS and pregnant. Clearblue says its 3+ weeks..so how many weeks does that make me?still in shock- not planned and this shall be my third. 2 ds aged 4.6 and 2.10..told dp at lunch and he's apprehensive due to money but happy because its another wee person. Still feel a bit ill.. someone slap me and tell me this is real.

Deafworm · 19/12/2011 15:06

I'm aiming for a home water birth, preferably in the middle of the night but that's just getting picky! Good luck with your scan mecha

Angel don't worry too much I didn't have nausea at all with dd1 mines worse some days than others but I'm still 5 weeks so a bit behind you

Deafworm · 19/12/2011 15:10

Hi Clara, congratulations, I think that makes you 5 weeks or more as I think they do the numbers from conception not lmp with the clear blue ones. My dd3 was a shock too she was born when dd1 was 4.3 and dd2 was 2.2 she's now 2.6 and amazing!

mrsmamma · 19/12/2011 19:53

Angel I have not had any morning sickness so don't worry! I was really concerned at 1st that I didn't have any but now grateful as wud be a nightmare with work.

I have sore boobs and have been very emotional so I'm guessing they are my symptoms Smile

Angel786 · 19/12/2011 22:38

Thx needles and mrsmamma more tempted to do an 8 week scan now. Am sure all is fine just odd that it faded so quick unlike last time.

Welcome Clara,no slap required! It's real!

Vycki · 20/12/2011 08:06

Hi everyone,
This is my first time and at 38 I am trying to relax and enjoy it but I keep getting worries and panics about things.

Last night my house was very warm (put a few more logs on the woodburner and it felt like summer, naughty but I feel the cold badly at times and can't warm up for ages) and then I added a little more hot to the bath water as it was too luke warm which resulted sitting in a very warm bath, I got out felt a little scared that it was bad for pregnancy and so stood outside for a few minutes to cool down. I must have been in the bath for only 10 minutes but I was hot afterwards. After googling, I then started to worry. I am now a little panicked that I have been very warm throughout so far (7 weeks so far into pregnancy) and this may have had detrimental effects.

Am I being silly? or should start to cool it down as you know this is bad?
I guess it's because I am on my own as my husband is away and then I start to worry but these sorts of worries don't get helped by looking at google. Has anyone else been hot through their first trimester of pregnancy and all was fine?

PoppySeed34 · 20/12/2011 09:05

hi vycki, I know what you mean about googling things, it's not always good! it's my first time too, so can't offer any advice, but I'm sure others will have some. I'm always toasty at night, maybe it's just if you're excessively hot for ages?

NeedlesCuties · 20/12/2011 09:16

Vycki I had a bath last night too, didn't even cross my mind to think about the heat. I think as long as you aren't boiling your skin then I'm sure it's okay. Jacuzzi's are a no-no though, so avoid them!

I'm a bit Xmas Confused at what you said about adding more firewood to the fire. Are you worried that sitting in a warm house will be damaging to your baby? What about all the women who live in Africa, South America where the heat gets to about 50degrees a day?

Try to relax and don't Google anything unless you're looking at it with a critical eye!

Vycki · 20/12/2011 09:31

Hi Poppyseed and NeedlesCuties, thanks for replying to my worries.
I got out of the bath last night and was hot and then panicked as I feel as though I completely gravitate around heat - hot fire, very warm bath, hot water bottle (in bed by my feet) and lots of clothes when I go out. I don't sweat much though whilst doing this and only sweat in a sauna or if I am in a very hot country. I guess I am just being silly. I had a thyroid test a few months ago and all was fine but I certainly feel the cold more than I used to.
Thanks for putting my mind at rest - I think maybe the stress of the worry might be worse than a very warm bath etc

catinblack · 20/12/2011 09:47

Hi all,
i'm 6 +2 (due 12-14th August depending on which calculator you use). Saw GP today and seeing a midwife for what is known as a pre-booking appointment on the 29th. Excited but also rather scared. I have a grown up child so not my first and before that had a miscarriage at 12 weeks with no warnings at all so like everyone very concerned and age is against me. I asked GP about early pregnancy unit at local hospital and she told me it required only a phone call from a GP and they'd usually see you that day or the next, she also said whilst fit and all was well i shouldn't worry about things like that. Easy for her to say.

Clarajinglebumps · 20/12/2011 10:25

Morning all- it has sunk in a bit but i'm still in shock. Don't know if i'm feeling the enthusiasm yet although Dp is delighted now. And has announced that we're going to get married. Will be a bride with a huuuuuge bump. We've been meaning to do it for ages but haven't ever really had the money. So this is the perfect excuse to just go to a registry office and do it with just our parents and the kids.
I dont know if its because i know now but I feel sick at the thought of any kind of food. Going to make an appointment with the doctors to get the ball rolling.
argh!!!!!!!!

voscar · 20/12/2011 10:52

So I spent last night in A&E. I've been decorating our dining room and went to move back the dresser and didn't realise the lights transformer on it was plugged in - queue a huge scream and shock. It was a mild enough shock, only in my hand but immediately I cried in shock and started to panic about baby. Called nhs direct and they told me to go to A&E. A three hour wait and they said not to worry that the baby didn't have a heart yet and wouldn't have been affected so not to worry - to go home and relax.

Was very worried. Dreamt last night that I miscarried. Was awful :(

On a more positive note - my first bout of morning sickness arrived today and lasted 3 hours. So all of you august mums to be that thought you'd avoided it!!!!! Mwah ha ha!! It's on it's way.......

Vycki · 20/12/2011 16:26

Hi voscar,
Sorry to hear about your accident! Sounds alarming and I would have been the same as you with the worry.
A friend advised me to relax and enjoy pregnancy but so far, there's been a few more worries than I would have in normal life.

I'm seeing my doctor on Friday at long last (after waiting 4 weeks!) but after my worries with hot baths etc I'm just popping in to see the nurse tomorrow just hopefully to get some reassurance. I think it's important to get things looked at and talked over - especially as not telling others until 12 weeks makes it harder.

Hoping our worries will be over soon!

eightieshopaholic · 20/12/2011 16:37

Hi guys we are 6 weeks today, I can't relax at all really want to know all ok, had sicky feelings a couple of weeks ago and been going light headed but nothing else does not seen real yet!! Got midwife appointment tomorrow hopefully she will put my mind at rest!! good luck everyone x

Vycki · 20/12/2011 17:35

Hi - is anyone else not sleeping well?
From week 1+2, I've been awake from 3am or 4am and then unable to get back to sleep until about 6am... I'm also not that tired but instead I'm wired... I thought you were meant to be exhausted! Would love to get a good night sleep soon...

Westcountrywife · 20/12/2011 18:36

Vycki, definitely relate to not sleeping! I've been up off the loo at least once a night but sometimes two or three, which isn't helping. ...then there are the sore boobs that wake me up when I roll over on to them. ....then the vivid dreams which leave me wide awake. Oh and I had a night feeling sick which kept me awake!

I slept like a log last night, phew!

NathanDetroit · 20/12/2011 19:41

Vycki I started off really insomniac but now really tired. I'm a terrible sleeper usually, and often tired so it feels quite normal, but annoying that I'm now actually dropping off to sleep and getting eight hours and still tired!

Anyone know what happens if you are worried about bleeding and see the dr? Will they send you for a scan or just "wait & see"? I'm finding it really freaky, but I suppose most women get some bleeding at the beginning.

I'm going to see if I can make an appointment for nuchal scan tomorrow - is anyone else doing this?

Gnomi · 20/12/2011 20:35

Wow, I've been off line for a few days and have just had to catch up on everyone's news! Congratulations on the new BFPs!!

Vycki I'm normally an insomniac - usually wake around 3, and then am awake for a couple of hours, and I've found this has continued during pregnancy. It's got worse over the last couple of weeks because I've been waking up and feeling sick too.

The midwife did ask me if I was suffering from insomnia, so I think it's a fairly common symptom.

Nathan - We decided not to, as we're fairly low-risk, and we'd almost certainly keep the baby no matter what, but it's everyone's decision to make themselves.

I'm still desperate for my 12 week scan date. According to the midwife, I'm 11 weeks now, so I'm really hoping it'll come soon, particularly as I'm unsure of my dates. But from reading the threads it seems to be a bit of a lottery as to where you live. Some people don't have a 12 week scan until they're 15 weeks - surely that messes the dating up a bit?

I'm exhausted too - I'm staggering up to bed by 9 and can sleep in until 9 or 10 if you let me, with a little gap in between. I'm glad this is normal... hopefully it'll stop in the 2nd trimester.

Anyone missing wine yet? I'm missing pate and brie, especially at this time of year! Xmas Smile
