Ok I'm sorry this will be into errm a lot of detail!! I'm 17wks and I've just been in the bath, when I go in the bath I always thoroughly clean 'myself down there' basically, what happened is I was cleaning inside me, n I touched my cervix n suddenly felt so much pain, on my cervix, n now iv gt bad pains. Only gt out 10 mins ago, but I've had complications as it is with this baby, bled from 6-10wks, with severe cramping, eased off for about a week 15-16th week. And has come bk again. Baby has also been moving a lot the past 2 days, even waking me up like its been having a disco day AND night! No idea when it sleeps... Is it normal to have this pain when I wash? Not had sex in a long time! Was planning on tonight but think it may be out window! All the pains have made me convince myself something will go wrong as can't be normal. So maybe I'm more aware of everything that happens like I'm just waiting.

You really do not need to clean yourself internally. Ever. It's not a good idea, especially if you're reaching up to the cervix! I'm surprised that as someone with medical training you don't know that.

I have to second fuckity, please stop cleaning inside yourself like that, theres really no need and it's actually not good for you. Reading your post made me cringe!

I wouldn't go washing your cervix dear. There really is no need.

If you are worried about baby or yourself, phone the number on your notes and talk to them

the vagina is self cleaning, you don't need to thoroughly clean yourself, that in itself can cause irritation , soreness and introduce more chance of infection

if you are having bad pains, you should seek medical advice, your MW is the first port of call

It doesn't say in the OP, I've just been surprised by some of her posts that's all so her name rings a bell. I'm surprised that if you've had so much bleeding it's not occured to you to stop doing this too.

dear god. someone who has had complications in their pregnancy is having bad cramps and has come for reassurance and all she gets is snide comments about not cleaning herself internally?

OP, how are you feeling now? if the pains continue then I would ring your midwife and see what she says. Best to get yourself checked over,.

It is something I have always done. And never caused me any problems. Will not do it anymore then,

I don't think she is getting snide comments - I think she is getting sensible comments. She cleans internally which has caused pain in her cervix. She doesn't need to ever do that, as it can cause infections and mess with the ph of her vagina.
