I know I have to eat right now. What can you all cope with? I hate the feeling of needing to eat but not being able to face anything in particular. And the thought of most things makes it worse. I haven't got any biscuits or crackers which are the things I think I could eat. I've eaten a bagel and some chicken today. Maybe I could force down a banana if they're not going brown. That might make me feel better enough to eat something else.

Just a rant. I haven't even been sick yet (7.5) and lots of women have it much worse.

I lived off of toast for the first 12 weeks, it was all i could keep down!

mycatsaysach · 15/11/2011 19:53

i lived off fruit pastilles and opal fruits

ragged · 15/11/2011 19:54

Nothing. I get skinny in first third of pregnancy.
Babies have been okay, though, honest.

Eventually I found out that I became lactose intolerant in pregnancy, and it helped a lot to avoid all milk products. Otherwise the best tolerated foods varied. One pregnancy it was salt+vinegar crisps, another one it was tunamayo + jacket potato, another it was humus & guacamole. Chocolate & coca cola generally tolerated in all.

Oh, and the other pregnancy I couldn't abide garlic. That turned out to be the only child who loves hot & spicey food, too. Confused

Grin

p.s melon

peeriebear · 15/11/2011 19:54

I lived on microwaved jacket potatoes with a little bland sunflower spread for a while. I laid a whole room of linoleum to take my mind off it. I was never actually sick either apart from after bolting a cold glass of OJ.

mycatsaysach · 15/11/2011 19:55

Grin trinity now i want some melon

thejaffacakesareonme · 15/11/2011 20:01

Oatcakes. Lots and lots of oatcakes. Can't face them now.

chocolateyclur · 15/11/2011 20:02

Early days I lived on ice. And dark chocolate digestives before even thinking about getting out of bed.

ShockinHolyTempers · 15/11/2011 20:05

Bran flakes
Cold milk
toast
plain potatoes
Small bit of plain chicken roasted
Ice cream (mint choc especially good)
Melon
Ice pops (orange juice ones)

Once you actually get some food down it feels so much better even though you really don't feel like it.

Crosshair · 15/11/2011 20:05

I would recommend lots of carbs!

horseynewmum · 15/11/2011 20:05

I live on fish fingers and waffles. even that is starting to not agree with me tonight. think im running out of things. May go for a melon too. Suppose to be good as got water in it too

thousandDenier · 15/11/2011 20:06

marmite rice cakes. And salt and vinegar crisps of every variety, although Squares and Twirls were favoured.

babycarmen · 15/11/2011 20:08

Things i wanted when i was really sick were chicken pasties from the baker, coca cola, crisps and apples!

belindarose · 15/11/2011 20:12

I managed the banana. Could now drink a pint of orange juice but haven't got any. Will try a satsuma. I need to stock up on snacks but whenever I'm in a shop I feel worse and don't want to buy any food. Pathetic really. Ice lollies would be great.

sharond101 · 15/11/2011 20:25

Rich tea biscuits, oatcakes, salt and vinegar crisps, scrambled eggs and toast, jacket potato, satsumas

PrincessBakedBean · 15/11/2011 21:21

Oh hallelujah! I'm 7+6 and the food thing is a nightmare! I'm so glad there are others existing on equally crazy foods!

I so wanted to be super healthy. Yeah right! Veg - urgh! Salt and Vinegar Ryvita Minis - now you're talking!! A couple of bags a day of those. Only thing I can stomach in the morning.

Really wanted ice lollies (orange flavour) yesterday, though didn't have any.

I dread waking up in the morning and wondering what I'll eat. But carbs are the way forward.....jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. That's pretty nutririous, isn't it. :)

PinkPepper · 15/11/2011 21:21

Write down anything you fancy when you are feeling well, do it on your phone or something so you'll always have it with you, then when you are in a shop force yourself to buy all the things you thought about. Even if you don't feel like anything. Then at least you'll have them at home. I've stocked up on snacks, cubes of cheese, crisps, biscuits, cereal bars. When I buy orange juice it goes within the day I get it so going to stock up super on that.

I've been eating innocent veg pots and pre packaged fruit when I feel like eating, at least it's (in my opinion) healthy, and however tired I am I can make it, and even if I only manage half, that's better than a whole meal that isn't so veg based.

openerofjars · 15/11/2011 21:25

Carbs and fat. My bum is going to be bigger than my bump.

HollyPockett · 15/11/2011 21:29

Fruit and fruit. Anything fresh worked for me. Nothing hot in the daytime weirdly. Oh, and in the evening, supernoodles at a push. Can't face them now though! .

Catsycat · 15/11/2011 21:29

Toast & marmite

Toast & very sour marmalade
Ritz crackers
Chips (from the chippy)
Buns
BLT sandwiches
Big Macs / Quarter Pounders with Cheese
Sweet and Sour Chicken balls
Olives
Cranberry or Pomegranate Juice

If it is made of fat and salt, then yippee!

I hope this stops soon, as I'm going to look like the michelin man. I've just started to be able to face salad again and am really pleased!

Xmasbaby11 · 15/11/2011 23:57

potato products
biscuits
sweet drinks

Anything plain and / or sweet.

But I didn't eat much and lost some weight. I only had this for 3 weeks though. Then back to normal greedy munter self!

GingerLemonTea · 16/11/2011 06:17

Another for salt n vinegar crisps esp snack a jacks, squares & discos!

annekins · 16/11/2011 06:34

I suffered with the horrible sick feeling all day and night until about 21 weeks (sorry if you didn't want to know that).

I remember going to my god-daughter's first birthday party and sitting in the corner demolishing a whole plate of cheese cubes and four bowls of jelly!

What I did want to eat would change daily, but marmite on toast was a staple (until the heartburn set in and I changed to peanut butter), salt and vinegar crisps (I could sometimes eat a six pack in a day), lots of water, and fizzy drinks. Oh, and I know its a bit of a cliche, but i seriously would not/could not get out of bed in the morning without chomping a couple of plain hob nobs.

TBH I felt a lot better when i ate so i even kept food by the bed for when i woke up in the night feeling yucky.

buonasera · 16/11/2011 07:26

Oh you have my sympathy, I'm just gone 14 weeks and it's fading but for the last two months I ate

macaroni and cheese
all bran (from week 10 onward as I had/have wicked constipation)
baked potatoes
super noodles, but I always felt worse afterwards
fruit - mostly melon and oranges
toast
tomato soup

I found that the best bet was keeping my blood sugar level, so no sweets, and eating as much as possible when I didn't feel too ill. But there was still a 3 week period when literally the only time I didn't feel nauseous was when I was asleep. I did find it was less intense at the weekends when I just did nothing - fatigue definitely made it worse.
