Nauseous people - what do you eat??

I know I have to eat right now. What can you all cope with? I hate the feeling of needing to eat but not being able to face anything in particular. And the thought of most things makes it worse. I haven't got any biscuits or crackers which are the things I think I could eat. I've eaten a bagel and some chicken today. Maybe I could force down a banana if they're not going brown. That might make me feel better enough to eat something else.

Just a rant. I haven't even been sick yet (7.5) and lots of women have it much worse.

I had hyperemesis so tried everything but nothing worked. In my second pregnancy though I mostly ate:
Honey roast parsnips
Potato scones
Tiger bread
Bagels
Sweetcorn
Granny smith apples
Dark chocolate
Liqourice
Crisps

I second the lactose intolerance. My sickness didn't go til 20 weeks (sorry to say) & I think lactose was a big cause of that. Started feeling so much better once I cut it out.

Jacket potato & beans, fruit pastilles ice lollies, M&S mint crumbles, salt popcorn & bananas were my staples in those early months. It's no fun & I would cry because I didn't know what to eat!

I lived off hula hoops too (in those giant bag sizes - standard packs simply weren't fatty or salty enough) and fish fingers with peas and jackets.

Plus toast.

NOT ginger biscuits - love ginger usually but not now. OH went to tesco upon hearing the giner advice and literally bought every ginger product available. He ate them all himself Smile after I nearly barfed in the carrier bag when he was unpacking it for me.

Had to have carbs every 2 hours. It passed by about month4 and eat more normal stuff now so salads etc which is just as well as I'd have been huge.

I basically went craving to craving for 16 weeks. One day I would want nothing but salted pretzels or saltines and the next day I couldn't stand them, one day I wanted fresh vegetables, the next day Big Mac's. Normally after I ate it, I couldn't stomach the sight of it again for a week or two.

I lost weight, but the doctor said that was fine, and she gave me anti-nausea pills.

Basically, eat what you can and don't stress if you can't.

I found that not thinking about what i was eating helped i'd put on the telly or talk to my mum on the phone read a mag anything that kept me busy it needs to be something interesting tho or it won't work, once you find something to do just start eating but needs to be things that don't need you to pay attention to eat so nothing that requires cutlery or peeling or with seeds keep your mind off of eating and on whatever else and don't look at the food and nothing with a stong taste.

sounds a bit insane now i read it back but it's the only way i could eat for the first 21 weeks

Another one for marmite on toast and salt and vinegar Ryvita minis. Occasionally hummus and carrot sticks, clementines and Ambrosia rice pudding. Whatever you can face in the moment! For me, the only times I was actually sick was when I let my blood sugar drop too low. My DH brought me marmite on toast in bed every day to enable me to get up without vomiting. Thankfullly I'm 12 weeks now and starting to feel a bit better, which I could never believe was really going to happen.

potatoes, more potatoes, oh... and potatoes: mash and gravy, baked potato and gravy, chips and gravy, boiled potatoes and gravy.... other than that i can do rasberries, lemons and satsumas sometimes. Nothing sugary at all though shudder. I am currently 8+3 and sat at my desk drinking lemon juice and waiting for my next potato!

Thankfully the sicky stage has passed for me now, but for the first 14 weeks I felt awful. Was never actually sick though. I very weirdly discovered that sour chewy sweets (think Haribo tangfastics) were about the only thing that made the nausea subside. How I managed to get through my recent dental checkup unscathed I will never know. Salt and vinegar crisps also helped- just generally sour/ acidic things. I think maybe I'm just weird...

Carbs definitely!! :)

Anything with marmite, ryvitas and tea. I know you're not supposed to have too much tea but I find a sweet cup of tea every few hours really worls wonders at keeping everything else down.

When I was pregnant and nauseous I read somewhere that people who were prone to nausea, car sickness, sea sickness, often had low zinc levels. There was no suggestion that zinc supplements would make any difference but I was clutching at straws. And zinc was my silver bullet!

A cheese bagel at 11.00am.

Apples

That is more or less what I ate until about week 16. I lost 10lb.

I majorly suffer with travel sickness, I wonder if zinc would help. What dosage did you take,when did you take them etc etc?

It was just a small typical daily vitamin dose. I didn't really feel like discussing it with my doctor which I would have felt obliged to do if it was anything out of the ordinary. I think potassium is another one, hence bananas are ace.

I'm getting through a bag of clementines a day right now.

And a jar of olives.

I think I may try combining them.

another one for the carbs - the middle only of a jacket potatoe only, mushed up (woe betide if any skin made it into my mouth)

I couldn't bear the smell of bananas, still can't actually. Blurgh!

As an aside - those sea sickness bands helped me a little, might be worth a try :)

I lived on Jacobs crackers with a little bit of butter for the first 12 weeks. Like you I had persistent nausea but no actual vomiting. You should really go buy the crackers if you feel you could manage them as I have found that by having a little something in your stomach it really helps with the nausea. Good luck.
