Hi everyone, just popping over from the freak out thread to ask for some advice...hope to be joining you next week after my 20 week scan (yay to fellow freaker stitch on reaching 20 weeks!)

Basically, I am incapable of making a decision on this so thought I could poll some fellow pregnant ladies who may get how I feel!

Had a phone call from MW today saying that a 6 week course is running from tomorrow night and asking me if I wanted to attend...I didn't catch what it was called but she mentioned parenting, top and tailing, bathing baby etc. and said it's not about labour. DH thinks its too early but says I should go if I want too. We are already booked on parent craft and labour in motion later in the pregnancy (only 19+3 now) so not sure if everything will be covered then anyway?

So, my question is does anyone know what this course will be and if it would all be covered by the later classes anyway? And, would you go at this stage in pregnancy, it seems very early and have made a conscious decision up to now to not buy anything etc. till after 20 week scan so don't want to now tempt fate and go to this before the scan? Or am I just mentalling massively about nothhing aagghhh help! Grin

To return the favour, I can offer some advice to those asking about iron tabs as I have been on them for weeks now...I have eaten 5/6 dried prunes (yuk) everyday and tho things have been slow moving, it is not at all painful like I was expecting...so can defo recommend forcing the prunes down! A friend also recommended a glass of sugared water in the morning, but I haven't had to use this Smile

Blackkat · 12/10/2011 21:49

Nice to see Stitch and Shell here...who does have Owl's stapler & superglue?

Shell sorry can't advise on the sessions, as I've not been on any yet either! Shock

Collie started a thread in childbirth (nervous) asking for advice on which water pool to hire.

to everyone else

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/10/2011 09:31

collie I have been following your hospital/hb dilemma with interest...I'm not allowed a hb due to pph after last labour, and probably wouldn't anyway as (a) dh is so scared it would be a nightmare (b) don't know what we'd do with the dcs if it didn't fall within school hours (definitely don't want them there!) and (c) have had two good birth experiences at (very) local hospital so feel ok about going back. BUT it's a very personal choice in your situation, and given the experiences you've had looking around hospitals, I probably would be looking at a hb. Don't let others put you off if it's what you want!

Supposed to be going to antenatal class this morning (I did go last week, it was fine) but it's on Feeding which I know means the big pressure sales pitch on breastfeeding...I really didn't get on with it last time and, while I am going to try again, I'm not sure I want all the pressure again beforehand! I ought to go really didn't I?...

harassedandherbug · 13/10/2011 09:32

Hi all, so sorry for not being around. Not been having a great time with spd & medication, plus some "ishoooos" with dh. So didn't want to be on here moaning all the time!! Still off sick due to spd, but have gp tomorrow to be assessed again. I know he'll sign me off if I ask, but I don't really know what to do for the best at the moment.

Off to try and have a catch up......

shellshock7 · 13/10/2011 10:26

Thanks blackkat I think writing it out made me realise it is too early for me so im not going to go [smie]

bigmacandhappymeal · 13/10/2011 15:30

Afternoon all

hi shell... fwiw now, I think you made the right choice!

izzy did you go to your class?

harassed a very gentle ((hug)) for you. Would being off for longer have implications for your ML? Not that this matters if you really shouldn't be in work. Hope the appt goes really well. Isshooos? Feel free to share if you want to - if we can't moan here...

doo , velvet how are you guys doing?

Also a wave to lara and to tunnocks - just realised I missed your post. How are you doing my dear?

Irene I saw your post in the full moon thread and can only assume you avoided howling :) ?

We had a little trip to the hospital yesterday evening when I realised that I hadn't felt the happy meal since morning and only got a couple of sluggish knocks to my fanjo after trying all the usual tricks. Of course all was well and I felt a bit of a numpty. A happier numpty though. With a lazy baby. Hmm

hotnspicyonions · 13/10/2011 18:14

Afternoon ladies. Lovely to see some new faces - stitch & shell :)
Blackkat did you find Owls stapler & glue?
Bigmac glad you were reassured by your little trip to the hospital. Always worrying when that happens, funny how before MC you wouldn't have given it another thought. The blissfull unawareness, how I miss it!

Big up to all you ladies still at work. I don't know how I managed to work up until the week before having DS. This time I'm just plain done in, and DS is at school, so it's not like I'm running round after him all day! Who is next to start ML? Bet you're counting down the days!

Collie how's the HB plans going? Any updates? Your SIL sounds a nightmare! I would love to have a HB but it's not practical in our house. Luckily we have a birthing centre about 5 minutes away and that's where I'm planning on having Baby Spicy. All very relaxed and MW led, so fingers crossed it'll happen how I've planned, and in the birthing pool.

Irene & Tunnocks how's things with you? Any twinges yet??
I had a few on Monday, so put DM on alert. Nothing happened of course, but then had a really restless evening Tuesday night, but still nothing. I'm getting a bit of lower back pain now, and the occasional twinge so who knows. Perhaps it will be third time lucky and thIngs will start moving pretty soon. It certainly wants to as I'm getting a bit fed up now! But as usual Baby Spicy is using me as a kick/punchbag so I feel far to active to be getting ready to make an appearance. Keep telling myself, it'll happen when it's good and ready and no sooner! DP is keeping up the "Sex brings it on" line, yeah right! Eff off darling, you got me in this situation in the first place [hgrin]

hotnspicyonions · 13/10/2011 18:31

TMI ALERT [hblush]

Just had a wee and checked wipe.... a few pink streaks!!

Could it be a show?!?!?

wombatinwaiting · 13/10/2011 18:39

ooooh - sparkly new oven onions? Sounds lovely! and ooooh also to your twinges etc... not long now, I'm sure.

Very curious to know what's happening with velvet - I assume DH got back from Japan ok?

Happy meal is very naughty playing tricks like that bigmac - hope s/he's better behaved in the outside world.

Hope that your day is getting better doo - sounds like a pretty stressful week coupled with sleep deprivation. Take it easy x

Sounds like you're having a tough time of it too harassed - hope you are managing some down time.....

Good to see you on here stitch and a big welcome [hsmile].

I can understand your dilemma on the HB collie - I wonder if you act completely confident about it (even though you are, understandably, a little hesitant) that it will help make DH less anxious? Just a thought.....

Well onions - I think it is me who is next in line for mat leave as it was my last day today! [hgrin] - although I have in fact resigned as mat leave here is sooooo pants - 45 (calendar) days paid and if you're company allows it an additonal 90 (calendar) days unpaid [hshock] so that's about 4.5 months total - a lot of women do it but we are v fortunate that financially, I don't have to work (one of the pluses of living here) and so I've said that I'll take at least a year and then see how I feel. The company has been v good and offered consultancy / part-time if and when I want to do it so, once again, I feel very fortunate. It does feel a bit odd though having been in full time employment for the last 16 years..... it's like half of my identity has gone. I have a total day of relaxation planned for Sunday (like our Monday) and I'm confident I'll get used to it pretty quickly!

wombatinwaiting · 13/10/2011 18:39

x-post onions - eeeeeeek! Could be!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/10/2011 18:40

onions sounds like it could be a show, was it a bit mucus-y too? I had this last time round and dd arrived the next day Grin

Big (((hug))) for harassed - hope you're ok, lovely

big mac yes I was good and went to class and even brought home a bf DVD maybe I'll even get around to watching it one day...

Bit of a moan: I'm 33+5 now and baby is suddenly, uncomfortably, really low. I know they can go up and down and change position but if he or she decides to stay there it's going to be an uncomfortable 6 weeks! (DS was induced at 39+5 and DD arrived naturally at 40+1 so, while I'm not expecting to go much overdue, I'm not expecting an early arrival either!)

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/10/2011 18:43

X-posts wiw yay! for maternity leave - I finish next Wednesday and can't wait!

hotnspicyonions · 13/10/2011 18:55

DP is on his way home and just phoned. I told him it could be a show, so he's gone into panic mode! I've just had to put the heating on to dry the newborn stuff that I washed today, just in case!
Izzy another TMI alert - I've been like Brian the Snail most of this PG so mucus-y is the norm for me [hblush] Poor you at LO being so low, plenty of sympathy from this camp, know how you feel ((hugs)) Bet you're looking forward to finishing newst week [hgrin]
WIW yey for starting your full time maternity leave! I've not gone back to work after having DS. We struggle at times but we manage.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/10/2011 19:05

Fx for things to progress soon then onions - iirc I had a few twinges later that night then it kicked off for real at about 5am the next morning.

Velvetcu · 13/10/2011 19:20

quickly popping in to say how exciting onions!! good luck for whenever it decides to happen Grin Grin

hotnspicyonions · 13/10/2011 19:40

Thanks Velvet Anything happening with you???

Hils74 · 13/10/2011 19:59

Hi ladies, I thought it was about time I came on the grads fred, even tho I left the freak out room months ago! Am now 36 wks and finished work today - woohoo! Got our 'parentcraft' class tomorrow finally so hopefully will get some questions answered :)

collie not a good experience but you got to visit your hospital, I found out today we get to watch a 30 min dvd tomorrow. Did you decide about a HB?

Have heard bad things about the hospital itself but the MLU is meant to be very good.

bigmac glad all is well with your LO.

onions oooOOOoooh could be a show, no idea what to expect to expect though!

Last Sat would have been my EDD of my Feb MC so we went out and bought a tree in memory, it was sad but felt like a new beginning with planting the tree and I finished off decorating the nursery for this LO.

I'll add myself to the stats when I won't mess it up :)

Nothing as exciting as a show yet here onions but dh and I have just had a massive row and now I'm having branstons and backache so would be sods law she decides to arrive now!

tunnocks here's hoping your branstons turn into the real thing soon!

It's soooo exciting GrinGrinGrin

Ireneiswaiting · 13/10/2011 21:05

Ooh Onions I wonder if things are starting for you. I didn't get a show last time so don't really have experience. All I had was a dramatic water breaking moment in the middle of the night.

Nothing happening for me at the moment, just braxtons and no sleep and hellish heartburn. Have reached the end of my Gaviscon and don't want to buy another bottle this close to the end.

Hills the tree sounds like a lovely thing to do. Glad you have the happy task of being able to decorate the nursery.

bigmacandhappymeal · 14/10/2011 09:11

onions! How are things going with you? Any more news? Your brian the snail comment made me choke on my tea - brilliant Grin and so true... I have often wondered if I've kept the pantyliner industry afloat over the last few months

Hi hils fabulous news about finishing work Envy. The tree sounds really lovely.

WiW an enormous hurrah and Envy to you as well - how wonderful to have finished. The happymeal got a stern talking to (and repaid me by having a rave from 3.45 - 6 today)

It's Friday. Friday. How good is that?!

Velvetcu · 14/10/2011 09:28

Lurking for onions you'll wish you hadn't told us soon! Smile

hotnspicyonions · 14/10/2011 09:39

All gone quiet here, boo!
I'm off to see MW for routine check up so may have some more news later.
Bigmac sorry for making you choke on your tea!
And now I've just p'd off DP by closing this down so he couldn't read it! Tried to explain I tell you more on here than I tell him, but don't think that's helped. Oh well, get over it! Bloody men, I could quite happily live without them sometimes!!!
Keep you posted ladies.
Hope eveyone else is ok? :)
