Baking Powder Gender Test! Just for fun!

Someone mentioned this test on another forum I'm on, so I googled it and came across these results from other women. I know it's just an old wives tale and it depends on the acidity of you urine at that time, but 86% say the test predicted correctly!

here

I'm ashamed to say I tried it earlier today and got alot of fizzling, but I'll be finding out the sex (hopefully) in about a week.

Would anyone else who already knows the gender (or even not) be willing to take the test?

Well, here's hoping Madame Z is totally wrong:

Madame Zaritska, using her mystical powers, has the following prediction:

The day you deliver, outside will be hot. Your baby will arrive in the mid morning. After a labor lasting approximately 30 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 15 pounds, 14 ounces, and will be 21 -1/2 inches long. This child will have medium amber eyes and curly blonde hair.

A 16lb baby?! DS3 was a fraction off 10lb but come on!!

Must buy some baking powder...

I wonder, though, when is the test 'accurate' from? I'm approaching 5 weeks so I'd imagine not yet Grin

The day you deliver, outside will be cold. Your baby will arrive in the mid morning. After a labor lasting approximately 15 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 14 pounds, 12 ounces, and will be 20 inches long. This child will have dark violet eyes and some blonde hair.

I just did the Madame Zaritza thing (and I'm not even pregnant!)

I found it freakishly 'accurate'. The hypothetical baby would be born after a long labour (I took ages), be quite small (no ones particularly big in my family) have the same colour hair as my DP and the same colour eyes as me!

Dun dun duh!

But the main ingredient of baking powder is bicarb of soda no?

Report
milkyways · 15/09/2011 16:32

It's called the baking soda test, however, baking powder does contain sodium bicarbonate as a main ingredient along with disodium phosphate and rice flour. I used a higher ratio of baking powder and smaller amount of urine!

It would be interesting to start some kind of stats list seeing how many women the test proved correct for.

The chinese gender test was correct for my dd two years ago!

Okay so just pee'd and tested with bicarb of soda (1tsp) and no frothing what so ever...so I assume it could be a girl? OH MY GOD - I have two heavenly boys already so that would be wonderful (although only discussing boy names with DH as convinced it is another boy!)...

Chinese Gender - DTD on the 31st May...If I conceived that day then it says boy. If I conceived 1st June then it says girl...

Only 5 more months to go!

ps thanks for guidelines on Baking Powder/Bicarb of Soda!!!

Just coming back to this thread in case anyone is still interested to know that I did the test and there was no fizzing and I had a girl last Monday! Obviously need to update my name - or wait until DD2 is 20 weeks old and then update.

This is despite the world and his wife being convinced from the shape of the bump - scientific!- that there was a boy in there.

Chinese tests have been wrong for both my children.
