Baking Powder Gender Test! Just for fun!

Someone mentioned this test on another forum I'm on, so I googled it and came across these results from other women. I know it's just an old wives tale and it depends on the acidity of you urine at that time, but 86% say the test predicted correctly!

here

I'm ashamed to say I tried it earlier today and got alot of fizzling, but I'll be finding out the sex (hopefully) in about a week.

Would anyone else who already knows the gender (or even not) be willing to take the test?

Can baking powder go out of date? Dried foodstuffs are generally fine for millennia, arent they? Grin

Ivortheengine8 · 25/08/2011 19:45

Milkyway I forgot the bloody BS again!
Will someone just send me some please!

milkyways · 25/08/2011 21:38

I never thought baking powder could go out of date. I'm still using mine and it's been in the cupboard for about 2 years at least!

Ivor!!!!! Well, you're definitely pregnant I'll give you that! What with the forgetfulness! I've been out twice in the past 2 days meaning to get some porridge and I come back with a million other things but the bloody quaker oats!

I just did the Chinese gender predictor and it said girl - so it's wrong for me! It was wrong the first time too, apparantly DD was supposed to be a boy. Maybe it works in opposites for me?

I also find this gender predictor funny:

So according to this thread, the BS is actually pretty accurate?!
Must do!
Baby had legs crossed in scan but dying to know :(
I want to know whether I can get rid of the bags of dd's baby clothes which take up half the house or not!

milkyways · 25/08/2011 21:58

Oh, yes! We got rid off DD's old clothes the day after the scan! I had gathered about 2 black bin bags full. I've put all her good quality clothes up in the attic for storage! Finding out the gender definitely helps make nesting easier!

Yes it can! Mines over a year out of date, god only knows when I bought it. Going to try it in a mo.

Ivortheengine8 · 26/08/2011 08:28

Its on my shopping list when I can get my arse in gear to go to asda! Grin

deemented · 26/08/2011 08:39

Ohhh.. i must try this! I have an inkling as to what i'm having, but won't find out for a while yet!

20wkbaby · 26/08/2011 08:45

I got foam like GroovyRach - like the head on a pint of Guinness.

Have no idea what we are having though and won't be finding out until the birth in October.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 26/08/2011 12:36

Mine wasnt just foamy, it bubbled up over the sides of the cup (eww!!)
I appear to have wee with a pH of about 1 Grin

somethingkindaoooh · 26/08/2011 15:36

Had to try this as soon as I saw the thread. Mine was frothy but didn't fizz at all...as we already have a DS i have decided from this that this one is def going to be a DD!!! Grin Due in another 9 wks so we will find then if accurate or not!!!

Boosaphena · 26/08/2011 19:05

So I tried this with baking powder and it frothed right up. We'd been told girl and consequently have a lot of pink stuff washed. However on googling it seems baking powder is NOT baking soda, bicarb is baking soda. So did it with that (also out of date-must do some cupboard clearing) and it foamed a v small bit then settled. The upshot of it is, I'm not sure. BUT I have a scan next thurs to check placenta so will ask them to view!!

Allboxedin · 14/09/2011 15:55

Reviving thread, finally I remembered today to get some baking soda and it went all fizzly! Grin

Allboxedin · 14/09/2011 15:57

Oh and the chinese geneder chart says boy too! :)

MrsHuxtable · 15/09/2011 02:04

So, baking powder said girl, Chinese gender predictor said girl and sonographer at gender scan a couple of weeks later said def girl! Grin

Allboxedin · 15/09/2011 09:45

oooo mrshuxtable, another correct one!!

BelleRomford74 · 15/09/2011 13:14

Just did this test & came out as boy!! Then someone on facebook told me to google the "nub theory" & "chinese conception calendar" which I did & both indicate girl!!!!!!! lol ...got my 20week scan in 3 weeks & going to find out anyway ..... really curious now though!! xxx

PamBeesly · 15/09/2011 13:33

I did this test (I'm almost 17 weeks) and it didn't fizz so girl, Chinese conception chart also says girl but I'm convinced its a boy, its my first baby, it will be interesting to see!

MrsHuxtable · 15/09/2011 13:57

PamBeesly, I was also convinced I'm having a boy...

addictedtofrazzles · 15/09/2011 13:59

Are you ladies testing with Baking Powder or Bicarb of Soda. Am confused??!!

PamBeesly · 15/09/2011 14:23

MrsHuxtable the sonographer can get it wrong you know and more so if they say girl! I can't wait to find out but not for another month, thats if bubs decides to co-operate Grin

PamBeesly · 15/09/2011 14:24

addicted Bicarb of soda is the same as baking soda, which is also sometimes called bread soda

MrsHuxtable · 15/09/2011 14:32

I hope not. Lol. But it was very obvious even for us...

spookshowangellovesit · 15/09/2011 14:46

is off to pee in a cup.....

addictedtofrazzles · 15/09/2011 14:49

So sorry - being really thick - what do you use for the test then? An earlier post by Boosaphina has added to my confusion!!
