Hi ladies. I have been sniffing around the conception threads, but I thought I would come here in the hope of hearing some happy success stories. I have been TTC since January (to no avail!) My consultant has told me with my irregular periods (can be anything from a 6 -9 week cycle) that it will difficult for me to conceive (no shit sherlock!!) ... anyway just felt a bit down in the dumps this week and need to hear some positive happy endings :)

I had mine irregular from the day I started. I could go sometimes for half a year without and when one came it was so painful I could climb the walls.

I do have polycystic ovaries but I am not sure about the syndrome as I am thin with normal skin, no extra hair anywhere etc. etc.

I decided to see the dr when I had missed a period for over 9 months.
Dr was convinced that I won't be able to conceive with extra help be it IVF or clomid or whatever.

I was young and wasn't interested in babies at the time so the only thing I heard is that I'm infertile which to young ears sounds exactly the same as please do not use any form of contraception.

I was pregnant within a months. But due to lack of periods and no obvious symptoms only found out at 16 weeks.

Second baby was planned and conceived again within a months when my DS was 6mo.

After both children my periods normalised but stayed as long cycles and could start +/-7 days. Which for me is quite regular and they also stopped being painful. Sometimes achey but that's that.

Fingers crossed for you and hope it all works out OK at the end.

Xxx

I found out I was pregnant after my wedding .... my cycles were 6-8 weeks. After that my periods sorted themselves out and I went on to have 2 other children without trying !!!

I had really irregular periods during my teens, then none during my twenties due to injection and implant. Came off implant didn't have a period but still ovulated and got pregnant immediately!

My cycles were all over the shop - anything from 35 to 90 days. I had one miscarriage, one burst ovarian cyst. I had just been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and was on the first part of infertility checks - blood tests to check hormone levels on various days. Was due for appointment with the hospital as had been trying for 18 months . Went away to Barcelona for last blowout before knuckling down to whatever was to come. Went out a couple of weeks later for cocktails but could not drink them - felt queasy. So used a test we had left over and it was only bloody positive! Did not dare cancel hospital appointment in case it was a mistake. I went to see the GP to get my blood test results - she was very sorry but they showed I had not ovulated. I showed her the positive test result and she was flummoxed. My non-ovulatory cycle is now 15. Smile. Good luck - don't give up. Have sex every few days - don't obsess on charting, temperatures, ovulation tests.

My friend was in this situation and was told the best way to conceive was to have sex every other day. It worked for them.

I started taking fertilemd supplement because my periods were irregular. The doctor recommend it and when I looked it up on google, everyone had great reviews saying that they got pregnant after trying for so many years. I'm so excited to say that now I am one of those ladies! I started taking it in January and got pregnant in apr!!! We had been trying for 2.5 years and couldn't be happier! Baby K due in jan!

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 07/04/2018 10:34

My periods were very irregular but I could usually tell when I was ovulating which was obviously helpful! This baby was a bit of a suprise as we weren’t trying but had sort of given up on contraception, just assuming it would take ages 😬

Flyingchimps · 07/04/2018 11:52

I have really, really irregular periods. My cycle can be anything from 38 days to 107. So we decided to ‘not actively prevent’ no pressure to conceive but if we did then we were happy. Any ways we made that decision in mid September, by the end of October no period had come and I was feeling queasy. I tested on the off chance, DH thought I was over reacting and boom BFP! I know we are very, very lucky. We were thinking we would be in it for the long haul and had to have tests etc, but we are running with it!!

Best of luck to you- just because you are irregular it doesn’t mean it’s impossible 😊

Another PCOS story here.. I had a cycle like clockwork thanks to the pill, then when I came off it to TTC my cycles started at 35 days and stretched out to 130 days before I was diagnosed with PCOS.. Effectively, I just wouldn't have a period at all without taking prescription drugs to bring on a bleed. We started on fertility treatment last year and I was given clomid to stimulate ovulation, along with regular follicle tracking scans each month. We concieved on the fourth morning the of clomid, which was the first month the we were told I had a viable follicle that I would actually ovulate with. We also DTD religiously ever other day during the time scale the nurses told us to after the scans. It took 18 months from when DP and I decided to try for a family, but our 12 week scan is next week!
My only advice would be to keep on at your GP.. Make sure they have it on file that you are actively trying, and don't forget to have fun!

riaviolet · 07/04/2018 22:01

I've had irregular cycles for many years (Lasting between 28-38 days) and had been trying unsuccessfully for 2 years (with my now ex) I then met a new partner and got BFP after being with him for 4 months... I must've done the deed about 5 days before I ovulated....

Allthebubbles · 10/04/2018 19:04

My friend was told that having sex every other day was the best way to try with irregular cycles. It took her a few months but worked! Good luck

Fluffybat · 10/04/2018 19:30

Hiya op. I have a positive story too. I have very irregular periods and polycystic ovaries so was told chances are it would take a while.

My first DS was conceived in third month of trying. Currently pregnant with dc2 and I hadn't even had a period for about 5 months and am pregnant. Have dating scan next week as we are unsure of date. A rough idea as we stopped using contraception in Feb and was pregnant by March.

I don't even know my cycles anymore, I ve gone 6 months without a single period and that's not on any contraception.
But I have one at least every 2 months now.
Apparently you ovulate 2 weeks afterthought last day of your period but I ovulated the day after the last day of my period (if that makes sense).
So I believe it can happen at any time and no app or.maths can tell you when you ovulate.
I am now 37 weeks and 2 days!

AussieMum28 · 27/09/2018 19:17

Hi! Extremely irregular! Went months without getting my period! Now I'm 24 weeks along with my first little bundle of baby munchkiness. I thought it would take forever so came off the pill about a year ago. No tracking or doing anything different just kept things normal and here we are!

Pastaallday · 05/11/2018 19:46

These are lovely to hear and positive just what I need x

Had irregular cycles both times - range between 37 and 51 days. Took us 7 months to conceive first time and 4 months this time. So much harder to track ovulation etc. I know it's a cliché but both times it seemed to happen when I was most relaxed and least baby focused. They looked into PCOS but all tests came back fine.

toastfiend · 02/02/2019 22:01

I did.

Came off the pill and it took a year for my periods to come back. I ended up being sent for numerous tests and scans and my period eventually arrived just after being referred to a gynaecologist, who thought I possibly had mild PCOS and told me we were likely to struggle to conceive and offered a fast track to additional fertility help if we did, rather than having to jump through hoops to get it, as he was so convinced it would be tricky for us. Periods came back very slowly and were often around 4 months apart. Eventually they leveled out a bit to around 40ish day cycles, but could be more or less and were almost impossible to predict. I also had a very short luteal phase (9-10 days) which was the main cause for concern with TTC. Got pregnant our first month of trying and currently watching DH holding our newborn. Irregular periods can make things more tricky, but they by no means mean you will definitely struggle to conceive.

I am sorry I have not read the replies so apologies if I am repeating.

I have had irregular cycles for past few years and initially I started to use clearblue ovulation tests but that ended up getting expensive so I bought the one step cheapies from eBay. Upon using them I have got the bfp 3 times (2 losses but that's another thread) Taking agnus castus didn't help make the cycle more regular but I think it did help me get pregnant somehow and I stopped taking it at 12 weeks in this pregnancy.
Without the ovulation strips I would not know I was ovulating but my ewcm change did help a little so I knew when to start using the strips, and I know they are accurate. We only dtd when I got a positive test strip, so usually 2 or 3 days in a row from positive test or really fertile ewcm which did coincide with positive on the test strip. Hope this helps x

My periods are irregular , and want become mother can anyone help me how to conceive with irregular cycle naturally

Maiden010 · 28/04/2019 20:54

Hello ladies! I've just found out I'm pregnant. I took two pee stick tests two days ago and got BFPs and a Clearblue digital one today that confirmed I conceived 3+ weeks ago. My LMP was on March 15th.

I usually have very irregular cycles anything from 18-45 days. Usually when Aunt Flo's about to visit, I have cramps that feel like my cervix getting contractions (a sort of painful squeeze-release-squeeze feeling that comes and goes). I'm still getting these (since last week) as though AF is about to come any moment. My boobs are sore and I pee so often.

I'm really worried about the cramps. Is this normal? Should I still be getting these cramps even though pregnant? Its my first pregnancy and I feel so clueless and worried. Please help :(
