Phew... being pregnant is turning me in to a worrier! I was nearly crying last night as i couldn't sleep, and all i could hear were sirens and helicopters :(

Hope Stu is ok.. tell him to stay away from that fire!!

bennybenbear · 10/08/2011 09:45

No fires in Salford this morning, all is calm.
Apparently there were familes in their cars loading up from Lidl in Salford yesterday evening, it's disgusting.
Am hoping the rain will put off the little ratbags tonight a bit at least!

kri5ty · 10/08/2011 09:47

It kind of sums it all up... they raid Lidl, they could have at least raided an expensive store!! (and i'm not being a snob as i shop i Aldi!)

Yup i agree, the rain will put them all off!

OP posts:
OiMissus · 10/08/2011 09:54

I quite agree. Lidl, Miss Selfridge,... Typical!! They've just no class!
And I am a snob! (But there's nothing wrong with Aldi!)

bennybenbear · 10/08/2011 10:00

It does sum it up really (not that they had a huge amount of choice of 'posh' shops in Salford lol! Bargin Booze was popular too. Half the stuff that was looted was strewn across the streets this morning anyway so it really was mindless, pointless vandalism. Makes you so angry!! The parents of the kids involved really need to sort themselves out too, I heard about a ten year old out in Manchester after midnight as well! Shocking.

kri5ty · 10/08/2011 10:03

I'm very Angry about all the independant shops in manchester that have been looted, the poor owners will go out of business now, and oxfam too... it's just shamefull!

OP posts:
bennybenbear · 10/08/2011 10:06

Yes looting independent and especially charity shops is low.

kri5ty · 10/08/2011 10:21

I have just bought a tomme tippee flask, it was cheapest from john lewis, so i have to collect it on saturday :o

OiMissus · 11/08/2011 08:20

Good morning ladies, well the rain put an end to the riots! That just shows the strength of their cause! ...butthen again, I thought their cause oop north was just to loot - so surely they should just have targeted Blacks first, got some decent waterproofs and then continued with their stupidity... but of course, they wouldn't have the brains to do that!
Ah well, let's hope it's over and the government take the opportunity to discuss and come up with some answers for our disenfranchised society. "A lot of people think the world owes them something, and we're used to getting everything immediately these days - this creates dissatisfaction - so what can we do about it? Discuss." Whilst you do that, I'll ponder the mamas and papas new catalogue...
And look forward to saturday! :) I don't know what I'll be wearing - probably whatever I've picked up off the floor that doesn't need ironing and that doesn;t have too much food spilled down it - but I shall be carrying the latest edition of "truckers weekly" tucked under my left arm. Wink

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 08:24

Yup that would have been the obvious things to do.. straight for the Spray Ways and Hunter wellies!

Well i have decided i shall just be wearing jeans and a brown vest top, with the posibility of a cardigan lol.. the only maternity top i own at the moment... and as my bump has appeared overnight its the only thing that fits!!

I have been coping with just wearing my work uniform, coming home and getting in to my PJs... how rock and roll am i?!?

OP posts:
OiMissus · 11/08/2011 11:24

Yep, I need some "lounge wear" for the evenings, I'm getting to the point where everything is uncomfy, and I get "scratchy" at nights. But i'm desperately trying not to spend any money.
I failed last week in the Allsaints sale - love AllSaints - but they had big baggy knitwear things that sit nicely over bump and aren't obvious "maternity" wear. I'll say it again, I love AllSaints... maybe even more than Mamas and Papas. ...I really like the new jamboree nursery collection from M&P - but the cot duvet set (for example) is £85!!! I wouldn't spend that on my kingsize bed, so why am I considering it for junior? along with the curtains, tie backs, rug, pictures, cot bumper, bunting, nappy tidy, ...

OiMissus · 11/08/2011 11:40

I've just posted our "event" to the local page - you should be able to see it now in the column on the right. I thought it might be useful...

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 11:52

Good thinking Vanessa :o

I love Allsaints too... i just can't afford it :(

£85!!! Another reason i don't look in M&P! Toooo expensive! Like you say, you wouldnt spend that on your own bedding!!

I want to go to a car boot and try and find some bargains, but i have never been to one in my life and i am a little scared!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 11/08/2011 11:53

... Although i could just pretend i am in South East Asia again and haggle with everyone! Hmm not sure the "walking away as though you are not interested trick" will work at a car boot though! "hey lady ok i give you cheaaaaaap price"

OP posts:
OiMissus · 11/08/2011 12:07

E-bay is the new car boot sale, isn't it? But it's not the same. Not been to a real car boot sale in years!
I got told about a M&P factory shop in Stoke (- was it Bec who mentioned it?). I'll have to look it up and pay a visit in a couple of months - The Jamboree stuff is from the new catalogue, so they probably don't have many bits being sent back yet.

kri5ty · 11/08/2011 12:51

Oooo really? i get free train travel to stoke muhahaha, i may have a wonder down there too one day!

I need a changing bag, but a nice one, we have the free one from boots but it doesnt seem big enough!

OP posts:
OiMissus · 11/08/2011 15:08

I've just been sent an exclusive 10% off at M&P this weekend - if you want I can bring it along on Saturday? (I am going to be good, and not shop). :)

bennybenbear · 11/08/2011 20:57

Yes it was me, Stoke M&P outlet is def worth a visit. There is one at Huddersfield but its not as good as the Stoke one. I've got a £5 voucher after ordering nursery furniture from there (managed to get a free mattress with it!) so i'll bring that Sat to spend. Not sure i'll find much for a fiver tho!

kri5ty · 12/08/2011 07:39

oooo i am getting excited!!!!!!

OP posts:
OiMissus · 12/08/2011 08:00

Me too. Looking forward to it - I feel like I know you and the girls off the December thread so well already. :) - If I am a little late, it will be because of traffic, I'll definitely be there. we're seeing a house at 11, so I'll try and keep it brief so I can get home and then away quickly.

kri5ty · 12/08/2011 08:10

The only bit i am not looking forward to is the "are you so-and-so off mumsnet... no .... ok... sorry Blush "

ooo i have my fingers crossed for you, hopefully you will see an amazing house!!!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 12/08/2011 08:11

ps... ok girls

So we are going to the cafe on the 1st floor of john lewis' ... 12.30
Are we meeting in the cafe or outside the entrance to the actual shop on the 1st floor?

OP posts:
OiMissus · 12/08/2011 08:15

good question... I've never been to the cafe, so I don't know what the entrance is like, - will we get in the way if we try and meet there? Should we meet just outside John Lewis, on the first floor, on the left (mamas and papas side). (If we make it quite exact, then we won't be approaching innocent chunky ladies by accident. :)

kri5ty · 12/08/2011 08:19

Yup sounds like a plan!

12.30, Just outside John Lewis, (on the left), nearest to M&Ps!
Vanessa i have sent you my number in case you find the house of your dreams and are running late hehe

OP posts:
OiMissus · 12/08/2011 08:29

OK, so we have a plan, do we have a party?
There'll be me, kri5ty, benny, sparkly, philippa and the little 'uns,...

What about mamalovebird, sonnyd, collieandpup, MissTriangle?

justlots said she might be moving house and scheherezadea can't make this weekend.
