Isn't it just the potential 'raw-ness' of these foods that make them a danger as they contain all sorts of nasties? As long as things are cooked, and you don't eat one thing one it's own all the time, you'll be fine. Think it's different for pate and tuna though as it's do with the minerals they contain, cooked or not. Moderation, my dears Grin

I remember being gasping for a wine at the start and saying to myself I'd have a glass at 12 weeks but felt so ill for such a long time, i could only face booze after about 5 months.

don't worry sparkly I only really go into Sainsburys for the boy's snacks as they've got a good range of baby goodies. So i'll either be in that aisle or the booze aisle, neither of which I'd expect to bump into in at the moment, so you'll be fine Smile I'm not that weird anyway.

Kri5ty happy to impart any info on boys/babies.

Sparklywine · 02/08/2011 10:23

I do still love the booze aisle.....Grin

OiMissus · 02/08/2011 10:38

What have you been like with booze?
I don't like the taste of red wine and martini now. I can drink a small glass of white wine with difficulty and feel headachey afterwards. I had a pint of lager on holiday and that was lovely. :) The odd glass of sparkly wine has been fine - but I only did that a couple of times on holiday.
I thought abstinance would be really hard, DH and I used to easily drink a bottle of red every night. But as I've gone off the taste, I've just not been bothered at all.
I am looking forward to the taste coming back, I was addicted to Martini Rosso before I got pregnant - and thoroughly enjoyed my addiction!

mamalovebird · 02/08/2011 10:40

Have you tried Becks Blue? I drank that if I ever went out/had a party to go to. It's the best of the alco-free beers (and I tried a lot Smile) Sainsbury's used to do a pretty nice non-alcoholic sparkly wine which was quite nice too.

hmmmm... not sure I'm painting the picture of myself I wanted to... oh well.... saves any disappointment later I guess!

OiMissus · 02/08/2011 10:51

No - I've never really been a lager drinker - but on a hot day in sorrento, a cold beer just called out to me!
Have you tried Eisberg? The non-alcoholic wine. If not, don't! I wouldn't even put it on my chips, it's worse than vinegar. It's vile.
When I've been to parties I've taken Schloer and drank it out of wine glasses. Saddo!

mamalovebird · 02/08/2011 11:00

I was never a beer drinker either but needs must Grin

kri5ty · 02/08/2011 11:00

I'm not a wine or lager drinker... just Vodka haha but i do like the fruit beers they have in belgium, we go for 4 days, and im going to allow myself 2...

Fruit beers - surely they count as being part of your 5 a day?

sonnyd · 03/08/2011 11:18

There are pregnancy yoga classes at Manchester Buddhist centre (in the northern quarter) every Thursday at 11.30am-12.30 or 1pm.
The classes are great+the teacher is really lovely. I highly recommend you give it a go!
Details here;

Sparklywine · 03/08/2011 12:24

Good attempt at steering us back on to a healthier path though Sonnyd Grin

OiMissus · 04/08/2011 07:45

Yes, thanks, sonnyd - I'm going to try a normal yoga on Friday evening in my local gym.
I'm still bodypumping, and still feel great doing it. I'm not sure what I enjoy more - the exercise, or all the newbies that turn up and look at the pregnant lady in horror because I'm still pumping the barbells! he he he! (I'm still peeing them off by maintaining my plank for longer. Smug is not the word!)
In a slightly less holier-than-thou manner, I tried to drink a martini last night, I managed half a small glass before I gave up. Pathetic!

mamalovebird · 05/08/2011 08:13

Hello again
So we decided on the John Lewis cafe in the TC. Did we decide a time?

OiMissus · 05/08/2011 09:00

Morning,
We didn't. What do you think? 12:30?
Early enough to get a table, late enough to be ready to munch cakes and goodies? Grin

kri5ty · 07/08/2011 20:17

Sounds good to me girlies john Lewis 12.30? I have to go to the grandma in laws birthday after our little meet up :-( I may fall asleep lol...

Vanessa did you not get told to stop your planks Mrs?!
I have ballooned due to a complete lack of exercise... I don't even walk anywhere now!!
The yoga would be great but I work until half 1 so I would miss it grrr

OP posts:
OiMissus · 08/08/2011 07:23

Hola! 12:30 it is!
I bet we will all be in Mamas and Papas at 12, and all wondering "I wonder if she'll be at the meet up..." :)
We've got someone else seeing the house on saturday at 3pm, so I'll only be able to stay til about 2:20. Apparently the first girl who came to view the house is preparing to make an offer... Yippee!

Sparklywine · 08/08/2011 08:23

I love how everyone is making their 'emergency phonecall if the blind date turns out to be a nutter' preparations. I shall have to leave at 2.37pm I'm afraid, as my gerbil is due his annual haircut. However, I will be there at 12.30pm, and yes I will no doubt be in Mamas and Papas at 12pm, clutching those cute blanklets with holes in (name escapes me) and a comforter. We're all going to be eyeing up anyone with a bump, wondering if they're mumsnetters or poor innocents on a shopping trip!
Oi, where are you moving to? Congrats on your offer, stressful time trying to buy and sell at the moment I'd imagine.
Kri5sty, I suspect by 'balloon' you mean 'look slightly less waif-like in a bikini'....have some more cake! Grin

Sparklywine · 08/08/2011 08:24

Oh, I can't spell today. But I think blanklets sound v cute...

OiMissus · 08/08/2011 08:34

Hee hee! I promise I'm not preparing my escape route! I'm always the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the one who's never stopped talking since arrival. (AKA - the annoying one. You'll be happy to see the back of me ... even though it is huge. he he!)
We live in Horwich now, and we're looking for something close by - within a 3 mile radius. And of course, we're checking out the primary schools as we search. And my mum is interfering saying "you can't walk around there with a pram. You'll be doing a lot of pram walking. What are the kids like in the street?...
I would like a blanklet.

kri5ty · 08/08/2011 14:08

haha hmmm i don't think you understand how nervous i will actually be...

what if i walk up to someone who is just pregnant?? what if i walk up to someone who isn't pregnant at all!! What if you don't look pregnant as your bump may be having a "small" day?! lol

I am sure 2 hours will be more than enough for us all to get to know each other!!

Vanessa yayyyy for the house!! Fingers crossed!! If you find good schools in the area let me know, as we will be buying eventually up that end, as we both have family in westhoughton (but i really dont want to leave south manchester as they have great schools), but i know we cant afford to buy here!

haha sparkly... yes i guess thats a very accurate description!

My boyfriend just said ... "be careful when you meet them, they may be freaks!... or men!"
