Labour must be close because not only am I absolutely starving, exhausted but unable to sleep let alone well!
But I swear if DP's elbow touches my arm one more time I will throttle him!
I cannot stand anyone near me and nearly everything is driving me mad with misery.
I am also highly emotional.

Come moan with me, please bring warm donuts Grin

kalo with a sweep, as I understand it, the MW does an internal and basically tries to get a finger inside the cervix and wiggle it about a bit to try and get things going. It has never worked for me, and in fact last time with DD the MW couldn't even find my cervix (it's in a funny position!). If it works, I think you get lots of cramps and then possibly a bit of bleeding and then things get going.....

Poppy I hope things get moving naturally tonight. I have been to the school summer fayre and came home with what I thought were contractions (all that walking around and haging about waiting for the kids to go on bouncy castles etc) but I think probably they were just cramps from needing to do a big poo! (TMI, but hey who cares I'm about to lose all dignity anyway)

Have been bouncing on the ball so will have to see what happens. Have been very teary today and shouted at DD several times, so hoping that is a sign of impending labour rather than just the fact that I'm a nasty cow....

mumblebum · 24/06/2011 21:45

Darlingdamsel click on "report" I'm sure MN will delete it for you!

Poppy good luck!!!!

emolly · 24/06/2011 21:51

darlingdamsel - Haha that made me chuckle, it could have been worse - you could have sent a mumsnet reply to your work!!!

I'm still waiting ever hopeful that I will go into labour soon...yawn! Now 40 + 4

SerenaJoy · 24/06/2011 22:32

Yup as smellyeli said, it feels like a more thorough internal exam where they sweep a finger round your cervix. It's supposed to make you produce the hormone that makes you go into labour, or something. I had mine from a male doctor with shovel-like large hands, and it was quite uncomfortable to be honest. But it was over really quickly, and if something doesn't happen soon I'm thinking about asking for another so can't be that bad! I'd love to know who discovered that it can bring on labour though, and what they they thought they were doing at the time. Grin

I'm feeling quite fortunate reading all your posts, as I've not been feeling too bad today. I've lost (or am in the process of losing) the mucus plug but other than that it's just the usual BH and feeling knackered. I'm getting peace and quiet at home, with no other DCs to look after, no broken bones (mookickkick you poor thing!) and no work to worry about. So I am going to keep my mouth shut for once, count my blessings, and try to emulate my username! Smile

Good luck to poppy

I'll hop on the moan....

Turns out 36+6 (today) was my turning point....I am so fed up this evening. I think I have overworked myself, I hate weekends tho as I don't get distracted at home like I do at work. Weekdays speed by (weekends drag - my god I would have killed for that pre-pregnancy). My really fab hubby is annoying the shit out of me for no real reason. Even the well behaved dog is annoying me.

I hate having restless legs and a sore ear every night. I can't get my contacts out either.

I feel like a giant fat thigh and buttock monster.

I am really excited about baby but know that I have officially lost the novelty factor of being pregnant.

So tommorow I will be on the raspberry tea, pineapple, curries..sex? Erm no my fat thighs are too scary.....I'll bounce about on my ball instead...

Rant over [quick wave to my july homies on here before I sign off my moan!]

JimmyChoo17 · 24/06/2011 22:52

My god what a miserable cow bag I am ha ha!!! Probably didn't help myself by weighing myself this evening either....ho hum....

MrsVidic · 25/06/2011 07:50

Is anyone else really breathless all the time? I feel like an 0ap!

nicolamumof3 · 25/06/2011 08:36

morning all, 37w today so she can come now..but won't! Grin

thought was having contractions lastnight did get semi excited but never had a baby arrive that early before. had really fierce cramps at the bottom of my bump for about an hour then just stopped.

didn't sleep too bad last night actually.

I prefer the weekends jimmy as dh home to help with three v.active boys. They are off to my parents this afternoon to stay overnight but we are doing bootfair tomorrow.

JimmyChoo17 · 25/06/2011 08:41

vidic yep I am breathless really easily...come on baby drop!

Hey Nicola high five!!! We have reached full term!!! Had such stood undisturbed sleep last night. Letting out my moan must have been good therapy!

Mmmmmmm what to with my new found happy self today.....

smellyeli · 25/06/2011 14:51

Less breathless now that baby has dropped, just can't go more than an hour without a wee and keep having to stop walking because of shooting pains - ho joy.

Due today. Have bought a lottery ticket - figure we may get lucky one way or another.....

tadd · 25/06/2011 15:48

Smellyeli I like your logic on that one! Good luck either way!!!
I will be 38+6 today and as fed up as ever! Oh, ate a whole pineapple on friday evening, a very large one, it didn't work!! Anyone got any more good old wives tales for me to try as I have tried everything i can think of and nothing has worked!
Praying "sprout" arrives soon, for my mental health, as much as anything!
Hope everyone's little bundles of joy arrive soon!

MrsVidic · 25/06/2011 17:41

I know im only 3/5 engaged so have a while of panting left!

The things that worked for dp and I last time were:
Sweep
Aqua aerobics
Sex over a birthing ball

And labour was only 6 hours!

tadd · 25/06/2011 18:37

I don't have a Birthing ball!
And how does that work? sounds uncompfy to me!!! Confused

SpannerPants · 25/06/2011 19:05

I feel really restless today - on the plus side it means I have tidied and cleaned the house (well DP did the hoovering because I hate it), but now I can't settle at anything!

The baby is moving loads and it's really uncomfortable, I can't stop peeing and I'm just generally fed up!

tadd · 25/06/2011 19:19

SpannerPants i know how you feel, ive been baking this evening. I cant sit still for more than a few mins. I should really have my feet up cos they have swollen up to an unrecognisable size!!

KeepOnSwimming · 25/06/2011 19:56

40+2 and also really restless tonight - and SOOOOO grumpy!

  • probably not a reliable sign of impending labour though...
Icelollycraving · 25/06/2011 20:48

Had a curry tonight. It's so warm today, bet the labour ward is bloody stifling so might be good if it doesn't work. They had heating on when I was in last week.

MrsVidic · 25/06/2011 21:05

You flop over the ball and he enters from behind- actually the best position in preg for sex ime.

kalo12 · 25/06/2011 21:08

sex over a birthing ball, Mrsvidic ? That is just showing off now!

tadd · 25/06/2011 21:08

Doesn't Bump get squashed?

Badgerwife · 25/06/2011 21:35

My big moan of the day (unrelated to the birthing ball aerobics, fascinating as that is) is about that terrible myth that "the baby's movements become more muted and cannot be felt as much in the last weeks because of lack of space in the womb".

Well I say bollocks to that... My pregnant stomach has been quite hard throughout the pregnancy (it's been called "tidy" by some who I'd have liked to kick in the head at the time) and so every. single. flipping roll / kick / turn / whatever feels like I've got snakes swarming in my belly, and is way more uncomfortable and sore than the early kicks. It has been particularly exhausting today, baby goes on for absolutely ages, and what's more, she seems to be dancing in time with Glasto which I've got playing on TV in the background; at the moment, it's some very hippy Arabic music, I am literally a belly dancer...

nicolamumof3 · 25/06/2011 21:35

Yes how doesn't bump get squashed!

nicolamumof3 · 25/06/2011 21:38

Oh badger my little miss is exactly the same non stop very big almost violent movements at times. Buuuuut more subdued today....of course not! Unless she will take the opportunity of her brothers being away gor the night as we are doing bootfair tomorrow to arrive?!

mumblebum · 25/06/2011 21:50

Same here, huge and very uncomfortable movements. My tummy bulges out in really weird shapes that people can watch from the other side of the room!

Feeling really restless here too. Maybe it's the heat?

My lovely PIL came over today, ironed, hoovered, dusted and cut the grass between them. I've been told to save up my ironing for next week too. Feels good the house isn't such a pit now.

I wrote up a list of phone numbers for by the phone and put the last couple of things in the hospital bag, put the pram together, and put the (now washed) covers back on the bouncy chair. I can't think of anything else left to do now apart from give birth! Don't think I'm up for birth ball gymnastics though Wink I think that might just finish me off with the SPD! Perhaps it's time to invest in a pineapple.

mumblebum · 25/06/2011 21:54

Oh and what worked last time was SIL taking DD for a sleepover and me telling the bump that tonight would be a really good time to arrive please. Who knew that would work! I don't rate my chances of being so lucky again though. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't kick off while DH is at work. It would take more than 2 hrs for him to get home, which coincidentally is about the length of time from first twinge to delivery last time. I'm under strict instructions from MW and consultant that I'm to go into hospital at the first hint of labour. Not that I need telling. Came far too close to giving birth in the car last time and I don't want a repeat of that. It was a bit scary!
