Labour must be close because not only am I absolutely starving, exhausted but unable to sleep let alone well!
But I swear if DP's elbow touches my arm one more time I will throttle him!
I cannot stand anyone near me and nearly everything is driving me mad with misery.
I am also highly emotional.

Come moan with me, please bring warm donuts Grin

I like bribes and sausage rolls... and mcnuggets.

There. I said it.

(Death to Fruit Shoots!)

NightLark · 22/06/2011 17:21

Bribes - a good plan.

I have fed baby 5 (eek) homemade biscuits with virulent pink icing and sprinkles. Is that bribe enough?

I'm 40+2, and I'm going to put on more weight in these last few weeks than in the last 9 months if I don't calm down with the constant snacking...

Did you call the MW, PWB?

buttonmoon78 · 22/06/2011 17:22

I agree re PWB though. I reckong tonight could be the night!

MotherPanda · 22/06/2011 17:26

:)

Do we all get to eat birthday cake when the first baby arrives?

buttonmoon78 · 22/06/2011 17:29

Why when it arrives? Why not just because we all like cake? I currently type with a mouthful of my grandma's birthday cake. But I've always had dreadful table manners Grin

kalo12 · 22/06/2011 17:29

I'm joining - 37+5. midwife complete div, misses appointments and is going on holiday for two weeks on saturday. supposed to have specially assigned midwife as i am high risk but would have rather gone to hospital. She hasn't even got a car! when i go in to labour she has to get a taxi.

my dh has just had a hip replacement and can't drive or walk hardly and 3 year old still sleeps in my bed.

midwife says baby is head down but there is a large round hard lump protruding at the top of my bump and some big limbs at the bottom so I can't really say I have much confidence in her

kittyf86 · 22/06/2011 17:30

I think i am in the same boat about the weight gain in the last couple weeks of pregnancy due to the constant snacking! i'm always so hungry!!!!!!!!!

MotherPanda · 22/06/2011 17:32

shall i confess my weight gain so far?

at 36 weeks I have gained.... (drum roll please)... 22kg

I am the elephant whale, and still have a few more weeks to go...

buttonmoon78 · 22/06/2011 17:36

See, after the previous post about twins sized bump you'd think I'd put on loads, no? But only 24lbs!

MotherPanda · 22/06/2011 17:44

Buttonmoon, congratulations! You win the average weight gain award! You are bang on target :)

I HATE the NHS website... it says you should gain between 10 and 12.5kg /22-28lbs.

which makes me...... want to eat more cake.

buttonmoon78 · 22/06/2011 17:52

That's me all over. Ms Average. Average bra size, average dress size, average intelligence...

I suspect that I will put on quite a bit more. Now I have decent heartburn medication I eat a lot more. Like a whole lot more Grin Expect that 24lbs to head towards 30+ in the next three weeks!

emsdarling31 · 22/06/2011 18:01

I feel for all those who are getting the endless texts, the unsolicited advice from strangers, the-lets-all -gawp-and laught- at- the -animal-at-the-zoo treatment at the supermarket and the gropers (ugh!). Weirdly today I got a thumbs up and a 'well done' from some young guy as i was shopping...what was that about it? although agreed we all deserve some cheerleading high fives right now! am not sure if he meant that i made it passed the ice cream aisle without devouring it all? or well done for getting out the house?? i am 41wks + 6 days and despite not wanting to be induced i am now chasing the hospital to let me in...been told no room and they wont refer me to another hospital. Does anyone know at which point you become a priority? as i hit the 42 week tomo am trying to work out if i can start stamping my feet at midwife or not!!! Thanks ladies

ipredicttrouble · 22/06/2011 18:16

I would start demanding emsdarling31! Surely it's just cruel to make you go more than 42 wks?!

SerenaJoy · 22/06/2011 18:48

I wonder how PWB is getting on? I've no cake in the house but I'm sure I could rustle something up when the first baby appears!

emsdarling31 - if the hospital's full and they won't refer you elsewhere, what happens if you go into labour spontaneously?! Presumably they would MAKE room for you in that case? I'm sure you don't need that kind of stress just now, so I'd say you're perfectly justified to start stamping your feet!

I did end up having a sweep this afternoon so am feeling v crampy and sore. Booked in for an induction next week if nothing's happened by then. But the doctor said I'm 1-2 cms dilated, which I wasn't expecting to hear. I'm now torn between wanting the sweep to work and not wanting it to - I think I'm in denial!

prolificwillybreeder · 22/06/2011 19:16

Hi all, well it's all died down here contractions getting slower but they did return after a bath so I guess that must be labour!
Called mw and said if they get more consistent or painful then call back and I'll be sent in.
So tonight is DP's lucky night, though I think he was looking forward to watching Lewis with a Brew and Biscuit !
I've got the breast pump out to stimulate nipples and bouncing on my ball had 3 cups of raspberry leaf tea too.

Really hope any of the above might kick it off! Though yes, yes babies come when they are ready etc!

Serena- hope your sweep works if you want to that is!
Ems- I'm sure they would have to find you a bed?
Sorry DS needs putting to bed be back to post to the others later :)

Oh god I just had visions of this not being labour and I end up being induced at 42 weeks :(

emsdarling31 · 22/06/2011 19:41

thanks all, I think am going to be more forthright tomorrow...may just take my pop up tent to hospital and refuse to move! the annoying thing is i asked in my antenatal class what if there was no room what would the options be..and they said that never happens! mmmm....
i love the image of everyone bouncing on balls, eating pineapple, stimulating nippes etc while watching TV! just imagine if the neighbours had a peek through the curtains! p. s Serena its a good sign you are dilating before given sweep, they wouldnt give me one last week as cervix said no! looks like your body is working with you so go with it...x

SerenaJoy · 22/06/2011 20:14

It's so stupid - I've been waiting for this for 9 months! Just nerves I suppose. Good luck tomorrow Ems, I hope they give you some reassurance. If not I love your pop up tent idea! Grin

How exciting PWB - I hope things keep progressing well for you!

Twit · 22/06/2011 20:31

well I've put on 10 kilos so dunno what that means. I get the circus freak looks and 'oh my god' comments cos I'm all out the front, not out the side at all really.
I really feel for anyone overdue. But I still want this baby out now.
My food of choice is tinned peaches and rice cakes with ham and soft cheese Hmm. No cake for me, or biscuits 'cos I can't eat gluten Sad

kalo12 · 22/06/2011 20:36

my baby is still wriggling about like mad - does this mean that it's nowhere near yet?

mumblebum · 22/06/2011 20:57

emsdarling31 do stamp your feet. It's not good enough!

kalo12 I seem to recall mine both wriggled well right up to the end.

mookickkick · 22/06/2011 21:45

Interesting about the wriggling. Mine is wriggling a lot, which seems odd given that the bump is almost constantly hard and crampy, so you'd think it would be impossible to move. Same thing last time too.

Wanted to add my stats: 17 kg and counting, with 5+ weeks to go. Just been at the Pringles and choc ice cream (not at the same time!) but feel justified because I'm sitting out a fancy dinner tonight -- black tie in my condition with a cold just didn't appeal. Also wanted to avoid being on display and hearing all those stupid judgy comments.

Hang in there PWB and everyone else near the end! I'm kind of worried about labour as the first one took only 7 hours. The MWs wouldn't believe me and by the time they finally checked I was 5 cm! Definitely stand your ground if you feel you ought to be admitted to hospital.

kalo12 · 22/06/2011 21:59

I have put on a stone less than my last pregnancy although everyone is saying my bump is massive. Bought 5 mars bars for my hospital bag, but I've eaten them all.

PWB is this your first?

Emsdarling - I would rock up to the maternal assesment unit first thing in the morning, they will have to consult a doctor before they let you go.

Frankie000 · 22/06/2011 22:03

is anyone else getting sharp pains in the cervix? Dont remember this from my other pregnancys...

Frankie000 · 22/06/2011 22:05

kalo I cant stop eating mars bars, think this baby will come out looking like one if I dont stop soon
