A new thread needed here already! Lovely Grumblin who started the second one, may be actually having that baby at this minute!

I hope this will be a source of support for present sufferers and ex sufferers alike and also worried family members.

I want particularly to mention my favourite feline FluffyWhiteKittens, who has been so invaluable a source of support on the old threads, and MOH, who has slaved to produce articles full of useful information and links to useful websites, LaTrucha, lovely CaramelloKoalaLover, Grumblin, NitNat, La, Lottie, Grandmagain, MaryLou, Cocoanuts and so many that I cannot name everyone for fear that the current sufferer may became annoyed at the long list...

Never worry about tmi or moaning. When suffering one has to discuss things that would make most people go weak at the knees and to have a good moan can help enormously with an illness where there is still a lot of ignorance and sometimes insensitive treatment.

It might help to remember - when you are at your worst - the words in that Eastern story.
'This Too Shall Pass.'

Quick post to congratulate theonly and Luce (and Johnny & Grandma of course)
Luce sounds similar to my first birth when determined to avoid surgery but exhausting so do rest up when you can and enjoy your bouncing boy (another HG whopper!)
theonly well done girl and sorry about trauma & blood loss but glad it was at least quick labour. Echoing what everyone has said, I know you feel desperate to get home, I was same 1st time, but hospital is best place right now. Breastfeeding can be hard enough without following standard charts & timetables. One of key ways to check baby drinking enough is by bowel movements and urination so they should be taking this into consideration. Had some issues with DD1 and breastfeeding counsellor recommended Dr Jack Newman's site:
www.breastfeedinginc.ca/index.php. Can give more info and support if you need it pls just PM me :)

Sending feel good, non-sick vibes to all others in the queue - crikey Coconuts & Elliotsmummy you're up next...

grumblinalong · 13/08/2011 08:36

quick 1 handed post from me too to say congrats to luce&johnny&grandma little archie sounds like he had a dramatic entrance, hope these early days are calmer for you.

theonly cool name, always liked Harper, after harper leigh. Hope you're feeling better, you sound a bit frantic/sleep deprived. Take care of yourself and hope you break out of hosp too - let me know if you need a hacksaw in a pink cake Grin

elliottsmummy & cocoanuts eeeeeeeeek!

baby carmen, alpine, mummy thinking of all you early HG'ers

moh brilliant work, off to read pages now. All coming together Smile

lucinda hope you enjoy seeing your fantastic creation from trembling early hg'ers to bouncing baby birth stories. Well done, still think a hg meet up should be arranged.

waves to nitnat & la.

grumblinalong · 13/08/2011 08:37

I meant Harper Lee - To kill a mockingbird author, sleep deprived brain is a bit awry!

feekerry · 13/08/2011 12:41

hello everyone.
little update from me- unfortunately i was admitted to hospital again last week as an emergency. had a really bad couple of days and keytones were plus 6. this time they kept me in for 5 days on an iv drip 24/7. i was already on cyclizine but they've also given me obdanastron (sp) or something like that. i do feel much better at the moment, not quite normal but can get up and washed and dressed etc. on the plus side i got an early scan when i was in hospital and everything looked good with a strong heartbeat so that made me feel better. i've lost over a stone and a half in the last 3 weeks which means i'm now quite a bit under 9stone but the baby seems okay so onwards and upwards.
hope everyone else is okay.xxxxxx

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 13/08/2011 12:50

Oh my gosh feekerry you must have felt so ill. 6+ is our record I think! Sometimes admission can be a blessing in disguise as it forces you to have fluids, meds and rest and recuperates you to a stage where you can keep on top of things. That is a huge weight loss for just 3weeks. Really feel for you love. It's bloody horrible, but it will get better :) And baby will be thriving so no need to worry about that :)

feekerry · 13/08/2011 13:02

yep it was horrid but in the 5 days i was on the ward i saw 5 ladies come and go with miscarraiges and one with ectopic pregnancy so it was a stark reminder to be greatful for what i have, even if i feel like death!x

theonlyhb2 · 13/08/2011 15:02

fluffywhitekittens · 13/08/2011 18:02

Having jaundice can make them sleepy I think, has she been in the light box thingy with the groovy baby sunglasses?
If she does go in that watch out for the amazing projectile poo after :)
Saving cake and wine xxxxx

nitnatnaboo · 13/08/2011 20:59

Massive congratulations to Theonly, Harper, Luce, Johnny Grandmaagain and Archie. More cool baby names on this thread!! Pink Castle this way>>>>>>>

Theonly hurrah for the final demise of HG. Sorry you have had a time of it in labour - that amount of blood sounds scary. Stay in hosp as long as possible and try to not take all the hassle re feeding to heart (hard when tears come so easily after birth I know...). Shall we send an emergency pink food parcel to your bedside? I am still at the stage of actually inhaling food, it tastes soooooo good and there is sooooo much room for it now!

Luce Sounds like you nearly had the full works - you must have been so determined to keep pushing to avoid c-section. I feel your pain re episiotomy. If it is currently "rather tender", it does get less sore each day - promise! Think mine is quite long due to forceps (haven't dared look!) Keep topped up on the painkillers. Don't know if you are breastfeeding - hope you can manage to sit up OK if so - not the easiest thing when you're trying to avoid sitting on the stitches. I found sitting in the armchair by the side of the bed easier than trying to sit up in bed.

Hurrah forMOH. congrats on getting published on Mumsnet!

Waves to Grumblin and La*. How are these early days going? Mine are very random!

Let's have a meet up! Want to see everyone's babies and bumps!

grandmaagain · 13/08/2011 21:03

help!! wrong thread I know but you know me here and i hope you can help or redirect me to someone who can. luce back in hospital as epidural "hole" is"nt healing as it should and causing her a massive headache. anybody know anything about this?

fluffywhitekittens · 13/08/2011 21:25

Grandma, I don't know anything about this, other than what. I've just learnt by googling it :(
NHS
it is so bloody unfair that HG Mums have to suffer extra problems :(

nitnatnaboo · 13/08/2011 21:29

Nothing to add, apart from I have heard of epidural headaches before and they don't sound very nice. Poor Luce. Send her our love. Have you tried searching mumsnet archive?

grandmaagain · 13/08/2011 21:55

thanks you two i have googled it and visited the childbirth section on Mn
some very nice ladies giving me some imformation there but not much more than I found out when I "googled" which I know is"nt always a good idea. Johnny coping fine with Archie who is thriving just my poor luce still suffering!

LucindaE · 13/08/2011 22:10

More trouble with pc crashing - no hope for a quick fix - dashing on to say,
Louby I am so sorry about awful manger, do keep us posted, Feekerry you poor thing, how awful you must have felt with such high ketones, I do hope these meds work, as others have said, that has tobe a record...Sad
Glad everyone finds this thread useful, I haven't been as helpful as I have wanted this last couple of days, with this hateful pc, but everyone's doing a great job supporting each other, sufferers ex and current.

grandmaagain · 13/08/2011 22:50

thanks fluffy I did"nt like to think of that poor girl suffering without the help you can all give her .

Poweredbypepsi · 14/08/2011 12:59

Hello again. Just had a quick question. I have been gagging and being sick alot today and managed to cough up some blood just a small amount and a few streaks in my saliva after but it's sent me into a panic. Is this ok? I have been feeling a bit better lately able to keep some things down so I'm a bit upset to be worried like this again:(

littleshinyone · 14/08/2011 13:44

pepsi, it sounds like a mallory wiess tear is causing a bit of bleeding- which is just a little damage to your oesophagus from all the wretching- not suprising huh?!

please don't panic- it will probably heal itself very quickly.
look after yourself the best you can, and if you're still worried see a Doc tomorrow, but I think all will be well by then. Obivously, if it's getting worse, or your noticing more and more, phone nHS direct and get seen sooner.

LucindaE · 14/08/2011 16:16

Pepsi Poor you - it looks alarming, agree with last poster (Sorry, I would normally know who that was, dashing onbefore pc crashes) it is probably from the throat if it's red, but do get it checked out if it's brown, then its from the stomach. I got it red when suffering and still do with violent retching with migraines.
Grandmagain Will add my encouragement on 'i feel so ill'...

New one here! Looks like I'm joining all of you!

Went to hospital yesterday because I'd been ill for a week, dizziness, nausea, vomiting. Woke up yesterday and the room was spinning.

Of course yesterday we thought I had a bug, turns out I'm pregnant! So need to find a way to manage this. Have barely eaten since Tuesday.

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow

I'd heard morning sickness was bad, but this just takes the piss!

LucindaE · 14/08/2011 17:24

Empasa Sorry, spelling? Welcome, and sorry that you are suffering and so early - do you know how far along you are? Glad you are seeing GP tommorow, I hope you feel up to insisting on some meds? There's things called kesosticks that you can test for dehyradtion with available from chemists. Are you able to keep down any fluids like sips of flat coke, ice cubes, jelly, ice lollies, Lucozade or even -horrors - the juice of tinned fruit? Those were some of my staple things. I know it seems a waste of time, but the torment is you have to keep sipping away or feel even worse. MOH on here has done a wonderful website full of info on Hyperemesis, on, I hope I get this right: - Sites.google.com/Site/Pregnancysicknesssos/home.
It explains all about coping strategies, how to avoid being fobbed off by health professionals, etc. Keep us informed how you get on.
MummymcCar How are you today?
Louby How are you, still fuming about that awful manager. I am glad the matter is under review. What happens on Monday?
Lilyrose?
theOnly and Luce I hope you are both feeling better, and everyone.

LucindaE Not sure how far along I am yet, only got a BFP today. My last period was 7 weeks ago though.

I will have a read of that link, thankyou!

louby86 · 14/08/2011 22:42

LucindaE I'm waiting for a phone call on Monday, they want to move me to a different location and I'm going to turn down the job they offered me over the weekend because if I leave then he's won so I'm going to fight it and he can leave, I've had to involve the union now though so at least I don't feel like I'm fighting on my own! It's worked me up more than I realised though, was the most sick I've been today for about a week or so. How are you?

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend and hope those of you with sickness aren't too bad!

Xx
