Bleeding at 11 weeks

I am 11 +2 weeks, woke up this morning and was bleeding slightly. This is not the first time it has happened. This will be the third time and so I am managing to stay relatively calm!!!

The blood is dark and looks like old blood, I have no abdominal cramping or pain.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen multiple times as I now have?

I'm due my 12 week scan next Friday. Fingers crossed!!

Hi Littlepic. I am at the same stage as you - I have my 12 week scan on thursday. I have had bleeding twice at around 6 / 7 weeks. Spotting at first, then the second time it was rusty brown and plenty of it - down my legs (sorry) I have had 3 scans now and all is ok so far. Some pregnancies are just prone to it I think. As long as you feel ok, and have no cramps etc than I would just take it easy and try to relax!

It's nice to hear from someone in the same boat. I'm managing to stay fairly calm this time and I agree that I think some of us are prone to bleeding. I hope your scan goes well on Thursday and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have anymore bleeding

I'm 11w2d and have just had spotting too. Scan due on Friday. God it's nervewracking.

littlepic is this your third bleed this pregnancy?

Sorry to ask but have you had sex recently? Im 37 weeks now and have bled every time we get a bit intimate and it is always brown (old) blood.
The midwife says it is very common for this to happen as the cervix is enriched with blood in pregnancy.

I have had a big scary bright red bleed aswell at 22 weeks, rushed myself into hospital, stayed in overnight and they couldnt find anything wrong. Was told i had a very ripe cervix - not sure whether that is a compliment or not

Dont worry too much, but if its really concerning you ring the delivery suite/triage and they will help, they were always really good with me.

Wolf it's interesting you've said that. No we haven't had sex. To be honest I've not wanted to due to bleeding in the early stages, however I've had quite a vivid dream about sex the night before this has happened each time. I think you make a good point.

Fingers (and legs crossed) that it's nothing serious and just the change in hormones that happens around now.

I'm lucky, my dad is an obstetrician. I've spoken to him and he's not worried at the moment. Still doesn't stop it being stressful!! Feeling very tired and have a headache so perhaps as you said this is due to hormones!

I started bleeding Monday last week (6th june), went for a scan, cos I've had 4 miscarriages. Turns out sprog is fine, but i have a small haemorrhage, which has bled for 5 days so far, not much its like 30 seconds worth of bleed and then it stops, kind of been waiting for it all day so far, and nothing as of yet!

it could be a haemorrhage, but i would phone your gynae assesment unit and let them know, they maybe able to bring the scan forward if it doesn's stop. Fingers crossed for you though!

and I know how you feel, it panics me something silly!

just remembered I forgot to write how many +weeks I am, silly brain! on the scan i was measuring at 8+3 weeks, I'm 9+1 weeks!

I've emailed my midwife and I think I might ring the unit tomorrow if things are any worse.
When I hand my early scan I measure 8+5 weeks but thought I was 9+2.

Hope your bleeding has stopped littlepic, i'm sure a 4 day anomoly is nothing to worry about at all. It's all averages, after all.

Glad to hear it has stopped but just to reassure you, I'm now 20+3 and have had six small bleeds so far, the first four of which were in the first 12 weeks. They always come after something strenuous or a long day at work (the most recent was after pushing myself to get a room painted, I also fainted ) and have varied from a pinky colour to bright red. Baby Pumpkin is now kicking me quite merrily in the bladder so clearly has not suffered any ill effects!

Hi ToriaPumpkin, it's really reassuring to hear stories like that. I'm also glad to hear that your pumpkin is now kicking away merrily. This thread has really helped to clam me down and keep me up beat. Can't wait for my 12 week scan, which is due on Friday :)

I bled at 5 weeks at 11 weeks had scan all fine was scary cause bled red blood for 10 hours but all ok 13 weeks now no bleeding my mum and sister had the samexx

littlepic last night started bleeding with cramps this time still bleeding this morning went doctors at 10 got in for scan at 230 baby is fine Im 13 weeks I got in for a scan quite fast can they get one for you sooner?

I've just read the thread from WWHLIAS to hear she has lost her baby. I've had no bleeding for two days now but can't help but feel really stressed and could burst into tears right now. Sure it's just the hormones!!!! I think I'd feel really pushy asking to be seen earlier than Friday. Wish I hadn't read this!!!

I'm really happy to hear that all is well with you pregnantmimi.

hope scan goes well im having another one on tuesday cause still bleeding slightly since scan the sympathetic midwife pointed out the scan isnt going to stop me bleeding oh really I thought it would stupid woman and she took 3 days to get back to my phone call with that little nugget of advice. Sorry really emotional hope your scan finexx

Hi Pregnantmimi,

My scan is tomorrow afternoon. No bleeding since Sunday so I'm hopeful that all is well. My MW has also been less than useful. I emailed her over the weekend about the bleeding she finally reponded this morning!! I'm sure you'll be fine. My initial bleed at 5 weeks lasted 6 days. I'll let you know how I get on and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure all is well :)
