Bleeding at 11 weeks

Littlepic · 11/06/2011 11:18

I am 11 +2 weeks, woke up this morning and was bleeding slightly. This is not the first time it has happened. This will be the third time and so I am managing to stay relatively calm!!!

The blood is dark and looks like old blood, I have no abdominal cramping or pain.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen multiple times as I now have?

I'm due my 12 week scan next Friday. Fingers crossed!!

Hi all,

Just to let you know. I'm home from my scan and all is well, phew! I'm 13 weeks today and not 12 as I thought. EDD is 23rd December, poor baby! It was so lovely to see it wriggling around. Thank you to everyone for all of the much needed support.

Littlepic · 19/06/2011 18:59

Glad your bleeding has stopped pregnantmimi. It's always nice to have a reassuring scan though.

I agree it's amazing how much it has grown since my 8 week scan. Looks like a real baby now.

Haven't bought any baby things yet but starting to feel like it's ok to get excited and to start planning. Good luck with you scan on Tuesday and hopefully that's the end of bleeding for both of us. :)

bleeding stopped so didnt have scan today feeling quite positive then went out shopping for prams and it started agin back to doctors agin in the morning. Hope it stops soon its only brown this time thou so fingers crossed. I read on another post that someone had a swap taken to check for infections they didnt do that to me so going to ask about that xx

Littlepic · 21/06/2011 17:38

That's frustrating!! I'm sure everything will be fine though. I think some of us are just destined to have some bleeding. Doesn't stop it being scary though!!

I've not been given a swab but then I've never been to my GP when it happened. Probably a good idea to get everything checked out.

Hope it all goes well. Keep me posted :)

thanks littlepic.

I spoke to midwife today having a scan next week a 15 weeks. Im not going to have one before as finding it doesnt put my mind at rest and makes me more stressed which cant be good had so many scans already.

I read somewhere vaginal infections can make you bleed when pregnant so thats why they take swabs also few people told me about if your blood is a certain blood type you can bleed more also if a low placenta (dont quote me on these just stuff I read and heard). It is scary thou and wish it would stop. I guess the fear over my baby even when its here wont go away!!

Littlepic · 22/06/2011 16:45

Hi pregnantmimi,

I think your right we'll worry all the way up to the birth and then there will be even more to worry about when they are safely in the world!! I guess it's all part of being a mum.

Are you still bleeding today or has it stopped again?

just had brown blood today little pic spent all day sat down so not to make it worse it started after I went out shopping I dont know if it would have started anyway thou.

Had stories off friends about people that bled all way thou pregnancy and thats reasurring.

Have you had any bleeding or has it settled now?

Midwife told me today I could find out the babys gender on tuesday if I want to Im 14 weeksxx

Littlepic · 22/06/2011 20:04

Well you know what they say, brown blood is old blood. I think you just really need to rest. I've had no bleeding for one and a half weeks and I'm hopeful it will stay that way. My bleeding however has come in 3 weekly cycles so theres not guarantee!!

It would be exciting to find out the gender. What do you think you will do?

Littledink · 23/06/2011 00:02

Hi! I've had a panic tonight :-( I am 12 weeks and 4 days, due 3 Jan, and my husband in Afghan, as I went to bed realised I was bleeding (fresh bright red) - it's fair to say I panicked. Called the on duty midwife who was useless said i had to wait until my scan next week! Called NHS Direct who sent me to on duty doctor - had examination and scan brought forward to Friday morning.

It's so refreshing to see your messages on here knowing you've been through a similar thing at a similar stage with such similar thoughts.

I was a blubbering idiot with the doctor but she was really lovely - fingers, toes and everything else crossed that all is ok. She ruled out infection, and said that as I have other symptoms of being pregnant and no chronic pain hopefully it will be ok.

What a rollercoaster! I wish my husband was here, although my two gorgeous cats are keeping me company!!!

Littlepic · 23/06/2011 09:23

Hi Littledink,

How are you this morning? Has your bleeding stopped? How much blood was/is it? Sorry too many questions.

Your midwife sounds useless!! Glad you've managed to get a scan booked for tomorrow morning. Make sure you rest all day and keep your feet up. Try not to panic too much, although this is easier said than done.

I know exactly how yo are feeling, you can't help panicing and spend the whole day rushing to the toilet!! Do you have friends or family who could come and spend the day with you? My mum was a god send when my husband was away.

I'm sorry you are going through this but stay positive. Keep us posted on how you are doing. I'm sending you a great big hug xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Littlepic!

The doctor last night did put my mind at rest and calmed me down. I have some great friends but they're all at work today, and I'm just feeling like I want to be on my own until tomorrow at least.

I was dreading this morning, but the bleeding has slowed and i'm still not in any pain. Got a headache but think that's from the upset and lack of sleep more than anything else.

The best way to describe the amount was like a light period I would say. I was in such a fluster that it's difficult to be more accurate.

I'm so pleased i've got the scan tomorrow but think today will go very slowly. It's very hard as I have no idea when I will be able to speak to my husband, although I wouldn't want to worry him when he cant do anything about it.

My midwife is lovely, but she was the oncall midwife and clearly miffed that i'd called - I was so grateful to have such a lovely emergency doctor (who also gave me a well needed hug!!!). She also did tests and ruled out any infection.

I'm a really active person and never sit still but i'm forcing myself to sit in bed.

I'll let you know the outcome of tomorrow. Thank you so much for the lovely message. I have everything crossed that it will all be ok.

xxxx

Littledink · 23/06/2011 12:48

My husband has just called :-) Feel sooooo much better for having spoken to him - was unsure whether to tell him and worry him when he cant do anything, but he said it was the right thing to do and is going to call tomorrow after the scan. Feel miles better now. I am still having all pregnancy symptoms and still no more bleeding today, headache is subsiding....I hope i'm not getting my hopes up too much but only tomorrow will confirm I guess...xxx

Littlepic · 23/06/2011 14:50

Hi Littledink,

Glad you could speak to your husband. I can't imagine how difficult it must be with him being so far away. I think the bleeding slowing is a very good sign. If you were miscarrying at 12 weeks there would be a lot of blood and a lot of pain.

Have you had your first dating scan yet or will this be the first time of seeing your baby? Is someone going with you to the scan?

I'm sure the headache is due to stress I often got them when I was bleeding.

I'm feeling very positive about things for you and I'm sure that your little bean will be fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for you :)

hiya i'm 37 weeks and 2 days, i had loads of bleeds during this preg one at about 7 weeks, one at 20 odd weeks and one later on and nothing turned out to be wrong. My doctor said a lot of women do bleed during pregnancy and they never find any reason for it so i wouldn't worry too much i'm sure you'll be fine, you've made it this far

Littledink · 23/06/2011 19:44

Hi!

I am feeling more positive today, especially speaking to Dave. They couldn't fit me in until 13 1/2 weeks so was planned for next week, but thankfully brought forward, so it will be the first time seeing the little one - just hope it's little heart will still be beating....

I've spoken to my Mum and she's coming with me, although not sure how much of a good idea it is as she isn't the strongest of people herself. Hopefully she'll be able to provide support whatever happens tomorrow.

Having thought about it non-stop, I think that it seems there are more positive signs than negative, I still feel pregnant - although sounds strange I think is a good thing! The panic has gone, i've done all I can now, and i'm pleased my scan is so early tomorrow. The doctor was so lovely last night.

I think I just thought that as i'd hit the 12 week scan I had got away with it with scares, but got caught out last night and it really look me by surprise.

More than anything i've found the comments on here such a comfort. I'm so pleased that both your two scares have been nothing more and all is going well now.

Up until now it's been effortless with no sickness, only slight light headedness and sore boobs (lol!) - i've been lucky - hopefully the luck will carry on!

xxx

Littlepic · 23/06/2011 19:51

I'm glad you have someone going with you and you are feeling much more positive.

Other than the bleeds I've also had relatively few other symptoms. Sick only three times in total. Perhaps those of us with no morning sickness have to have our stress in other ways!!!!

I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight and I'd love to hear how you get on tomorrow.

OP posts:
Littledink · 23/06/2011 19:56

Yes that's it - it's making up for it in one hit!!

Of course i'll let you know how i get on, either way.

I can guarantee either way i'll cry - definitely got the emotional bit of the pregnancy down to a tee, although feel rather cried out after last night!!

Feel exhausted so hoping that will make me sleep, but I am a worrier and a poor sleeper. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again for your messages, they have been such a comfort.

pregnantmimi · 24/06/2011 01:24

Hi I just tryed to post a message but I dont think it send so if you read this twice sorry!

Littledink hope you manage to get some sleep tonight and let me know how you get on with scan understand how you feel I had the same bright red blood.

Littlepic Im finding out the babys gender on tuesday at the scan if possible my feelings are its a boy but dont mind either way just have a feeling.
Pleased to hear you havent had any bleeding for 1 and a half weeks. I havent had any bleeding today so really happy hopefully its stopped. How many weeks are you now?

pregnantmimi · 24/06/2011 01:26

Another thing I heard today is that some people with a certain blood type is it resus negative are more prone to bleeding and they used to give a injection for it is it called anti d I m not sure but looking into it. Only heard this so going to research it nowxx

herecomesthsun · 24/06/2011 03:38

er no the rhesus negative status means that if you bleed when pregnant with a rhesus postive baby you could make antibodies which could cause problems in pregnancy in future. However, these days if you are Rhesus negative and bleed in pregnancy you can have an injection that can help stop this happening.

herecomesthsun · 24/06/2011 03:43

ps good luck with the 12 week scan!
