Daisy does OH not know??!!!! How on earth have you managed that? I want to find out, and DH doesn't...so keeping it quiet is possible?...tell me how!

Blackkat · 01/07/2011 08:57

daisy i think I've got lara's dates wrong anyway, couldn't check the freak out room at the time of updating. Blush

Daisybell1 · 01/07/2011 08:59

Well, I may have let it slip last week but it hasn't been mentioned so I think I got away from it. How have I managed it? Not sure.... Am still referring to 'her' as 'it' in conversations, hiding any girly stuff, that sort of thing. You guys are the only ones who know Blush

I'm lucky with still having my old house where I'm stashing all the baby stuff, so I can hide things there, and get the clothes washed etc etc.

Am thinking I will have to pack a 'neutral' bag for the hospital and just pack the stuff he knows about in there, using the excuse that we don't know what size she will be, but then have a secret bag somewhere for him to bring back in with him when he visits (will be in for 5 days Grin). I am going to have to write all over my birth plan OH DOESN'T KNOW THE SEX in case its in my notes!!!!

Hoorah for the good scan, tunnocks :) It's such a big reassurance once that's gone well isn't it.

Hello and welcome :) Make yourself at home.

The mat leave thing - it officially starts for me at 38 weeks but I've taken two weeks of annual leave prior to that as I am starting to very much dislike the commute into work and the discomfort of sitting at a desk all day. Plus I have LOADS of sorting out to do now the builders have finished messing up the house :)

I suspect I could have stuck it out til 38 weeks but it would be damn uncomfortable and I can do without that. Thankfully my employer is pretty generous with the leave allowance so I don't feel I am eating into my time away from work too much by doing this. Originally I was going to stick it out til due date. I now see that this would have been insane Grin

cep · 01/07/2011 15:52

afternoon ladies, collie i've been planning on working up to 38 weeks then having 2 weeks a/l then start mat leave about due date so i get more time after. But i'm now thinking as i have 2 weeks booked off mid way that i might reduce that to 1 week then work up to 37 weeks and have 3 weeks a/l before due date.

tunnocks could be anything, to me i'd be dissecting (sp?) the tone of her voice. Grin

well i had an emergency trip to mw today as i hadn't felt baby move in over 24 hours and even at the really active bed time not a peep with lots of prodding and poking from me. I'd moved 2-3 heavy boxes yesterday filled with books so was thinking i'd done something. But heard hb today and mw gave us a reminder tour of the mw led unit where i'm hoping to go again. And she answered my queries about ambulance transfers so saved us another trip.

Velvetcu · 01/07/2011 19:00

owl nix and pink i cant believe how close to the top you lot are and talking about countdown to mat leave already!! I only have 7 weeks left at work because of the summer holidays in between :)

wombat I'm in Kent not london but I think my osteopath does a london-ish clinic 3 days a week. I'll ask him when I see him next.

glad your panic was unfounded cep

I know it's a panic if the baby doesnt move but is it possible for it to move too much? I think mine is totally bonkers!! I've been videoing her movements when I go to bed :)

Also I recall someone (nix??) being kicked in the fanjo a lot - I'm getting this now and it's pretty uncomfortable!

I hope everyone else is well.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 01/07/2011 20:01

Velvetcu - apparently yes they can move too much. My MW told me to monitor the pattern and anything out of the ordinary whether it be alot less or a lot more should be investigated. But, if she is usually really active at bedtime and that is her usual pattern then that sounds ok :)

Am also getting kicked in the fanjo. It feels like he is just standing up and stamping on my cervix!

I have also just realised I only have 13 weeks til my EDD. I remember being 13 weeks pregnant and it had gone so slowly but now it's going by too fast!

Am feeling mor ecomfortable with my purchases now :) in fact today i have been feeling really fidgety like I want to buy more! I can't win with my brain!

Sorry for lack of perosnals, hope everyone is ok.

Velvetcu · 01/07/2011 20:26

thanks coconuts she has a definite pattern of sleep until 11am, bounce for a bit every hour til 3, sleep til 6, go bonkers til 8, go bonkers at 10pm-5am, go to sleep. I'm hoping this isnt what she wants to do once she has arrived!

nickstermum · 01/07/2011 21:15

Velvet yep stamping on the cervix, and severe bladder kicks which made me wee!! More likely to be weak pelvic floor muscles!! Nice... well today we are transverse with a back to the front of my tummy... not quite sure what you call that position!! Hmmm..

mamapower · 01/07/2011 22:10
PinkFondantFancy · 01/07/2011 22:22

hey lovely do you have a thing for pickled beetroot going on? Just wondered as we're twins and all, and I can't get enough of them Grin

Glad all is well CEP

Daisybell1 · 02/07/2011 07:58

Tunnocks fab scan news, and ooooh for the over analysis - I LOVE a bit of over-analysis Grin

Cep what a relief for you - bad mini-cep but glad you got the reassurance you're seeking.

Velvet I'm also getting kicked down below Blush the MW thinks she's head down but I only get kicks at the bottom, nothing near the top, which is screaming 'breach' in my head Confused. I've also got those kick charts printed off, but she has no rhyme or reason to her movements yet.

Woo hoo to Coconuts for the embracing shopping moment Grin

Bagels and scrambled eggs all round???

cep · 02/07/2011 08:01

morning ladies. thank you, am rather Blush about it now. I just want to get to a point where i don't panic about everything. I thought i had until yesterday.

Daisybell1 · 02/07/2011 08:05

Cep don't be Blush, you did the right thing! And I'm not sure that non-panicking thing ever goes away, its just that what we panic about changing.

I turned round too quickly yesterday and gave myself a tiny stitch - except I convinced myself it may have been an abruption Confused.

PinkFondantFancy · 02/07/2011 08:13

Sorry tunnocks missed your post! Yay for good scan. Hahha I have no idea what to make of what te sonographer said tho!

daisy yum to eggs, thanks v much!

owlbooty · 02/07/2011 11:36

Aw, cep have been there and done that and wept like a right muppet when the nurse found his heartbeat. She was very nice though and like she said to me, don't ever feel daft about talking to your MW about lack of movement - they're always happier to see you if you're worried no matter what a prat you feel when, like me, your v.badly behaved offspring tries to kick the monitoring gear off within seconds of it being strapped around your middle. Grin

I have spent weeks trying to work out what the pattern of movements is. My conclusion is that there isn't one and the only things that definitely provoke a pretty much guaranteed reaction are a Mars Bar and a hot, full strength coffee, or getting really, really angry about something at work. The cold drink and lying down does nothing. Oh, and I think for some reason he tends to be quieter on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. None of this is helpful when one is trying to count kicks.

Daisybell1 · 02/07/2011 11:39

Owl that's how I feel! She's quiet if I'm up and around, and only really wriggles if I sit at my desk (because she's getting squashed Blush) So far no pattern is emerging here either....

Have just walked the sheep dogs a bit too fast - think I was having branstons as they dragged me up the hill....

OH's silaging all weekend so I've got to go to our first ante-natal class alone this afternoon. Tips for not looking completely unloved very gratefully received!!!

cep · 02/07/2011 13:13

owl me too. She said she always gets loads of calls from women around 20 weeks cause she thinks the womb grows at that point so the baby isn't as close to the walls to feel the kicks.

daisy do you have someone else who can go with you?

nickstermum · 02/07/2011 13:53

Mini nix always boots me when Ds is near ;) also everytime I eat a meal;) cold things and coffee work for us too!! I don't sleep past four am these days due to the booting, but it then has v unnerving quiet days! Not going to stress about it, as long as I get booted several times a day that's fine ;)

Am

wombatinwaiting · 02/07/2011 15:45

I know I am going to regret saying this, but I really am Envy of all the kicking going on, even in the fanjo!. I really don't know if I have felt these flutterings that are mentioned (19+2 today) although I was reassured by a friend who said she didn't feel anything until 23 wks. We have 20 wk scan on thurs so will hopefullu\y get some reassurance then. Fortunately have a manic week at work then moving villas weds and thurs so plenty to distract!

cep - sorry to hear that you've been worrying - as someone has wisely said here - we still mental as much, just about different things as time passes.... goodness knows what I'll be like when junior actually makes an appearance!

Chuckled at owlet's quiet Tuesdays and Wednesdays owl!

Good luck at the antenatal classes daisy - I'm sure there'll be others there without OHs.

Great news on the scan tunnocks - must have been lovely for your mum too.

Daisybell1 · 02/07/2011 18:03

Ok today's tip of the day is

"Do not attend an ante-natal class alone when you have pre-natal depression/anxiety"

Oh dear. Luckily Daisybean kept me company kicking constantly as I was drinking iced water all the time. But the moment I walked in alone all the other women started stroking their blokes AngrySad

But I survived, and again it was a good refresher of the anxiety before the counselling appointment. Does anyone else see a delivery room/unit and just want to burst into tears? No? Just me then!

Farmer is still silaging so I have his aunt as my date for a wedding tonight. Am going to be paraded as her latest exhibit Angry

Waves to all

nickstermum · 02/07/2011 19:38

Wiw it was about 24 weeks when I really started with the booting. A lot depends on where placenta is! Try not to worry x

7kilo cat was snoring on my chest in bed this morning and Ds scared him with a noisy toy, he flew off me claws first and now I have 10 inch cat scratches straight down my bump.. My god they are so deep and sore... Nearly sent me into early labour!! Stoopid mogg

PinkFondantFancy · 03/07/2011 07:39

wiw mine was later than I expected too. Also, mini pink doesn't really kick, just fidgets a bit so v quiet most of the time.

Grin at Owlet's Tuesdays and Wednesdays. TBH he's a sensible little boy, I'd sleep through them if I had the choice too, they are the most rubbish days of the week

daisy I so so so wish we lived closer so I could have come with you Sad it was v brave of you to go by yourself, I would have been bricking it. Were they friendly to you once they got over their own insecurities? WTF, it's not like people go to antenatal classed to look for men to steal!!! It's funny you should say that-yesterday I went on a tour of the maternity department of one of my "local" hospitals as I'm thinking of moving my care there but thought i should probably look first. The stage where we went into one of the delivery rooms came, and everyone else bounced in while I had to basically be dragged in by DH while swearing constantly under my breath..... I was absolutely bricking it. Am v v v glad I've seen it before the day comes though, once I was there it was absolutely fine and not at all as scary as I was expecting it to be. Also I think you're a step ahead of me-DH had to force me to go pram browsing this weekend because I am still so so afraid of buying one Confused

daisy hope the wedding was much better than you were expecting!!
