cep · 18/06/2011 08:43

mornign ladies, haven't been on for a couple of days. firstly let me say
congrats apple so pleased Malachi got here safetly.

daisy i would like a girl but i am a bit worried about when they're older, the hormony teens, but then i'm a bit worried about when ds finds hormones.

wombat sorry about the uti, don't know the meds though my gp just tends to give me amoxicillin.

my parents live near Sherborne, Dorset which isn't too far from dorchester.

PinkFondantFancy · 19/06/2011 08:03

wombat I've not been on those anti bs but if you're worried I've found that that pharmacist is often the best person to ask.

daisy hahahaha I did exactly the same thing on Friday! Also, the teacher was talking about how you don't want to be screaming and shouting during labour and that a low noise is much more empowering and we had to practice this low urgghhhhgghhhhgggghhhh noise-I was absolutely PMSL but everyone else was being very serious and no-one would catch my eye so I felt like an immature five year old!! I demonstrated the noise to DH when he got home from work and he was Shock and Hmm hahaha

Good work on the clothes shopping by the way-I'm impressed!! They sound v sweet little outfits! Have you picked something to start knitting?
My project for today-fix my constipation Blush My usual trick of lots of apple juice and water isn't doing the job anymore and I really really want to go to the loo!!!! So have started the day with hot water with lemon juice and have scoffed some prunes. Now planning to go back to bed and when I get up have some museli and dried apricots and apple juice. I know this has some serious downside risk of going too far the other way but that wouldn't actually be such a bad thing right now!!!

Emoo · 19/06/2011 08:17

Morning!

Daisy - good work on the clothes - the red dress sounds adorable!

Pink - that's hilarious! How you did not actually piss yourself, I do not know! As for constipation - had to get some lactulose in the end as just couldn't seem to sort it with diet. Am a new woman now!

Emoobump has been on my right side all this pregnancy so far - until this morning. Woke up and it was completely on the other side! Was quite shocked!

cep · 19/06/2011 09:22

morning Ladies.

daisy it sounds really sweet.

I think i'm going to have to buy some clothes after all as it was pointed out to me that as ds was born in May most of hte clothes we have for the first few months are shorts and teeshirts. This ones due in Nov so obviously can't use the same stuff. Although for newborn we have loads of all in ones etc.

pink how bizarre, as far as i'm concerned it hurts and if you want to shout then do so. The baby's going to be shouting as it is. (They'll be lucky if i'm not swearing. Although i don't think i did with ds)

crochetcircle · 19/06/2011 10:33

Hi all,

Still here and still pregnant! Induction booked for Friday, and my gut feeling is that she will need a nudge to leave my comfy womb! Last week was very tough, as I kept expecting to go into labour and didn't. This week I hope will be better as I will have a baby at the end of it! Smile had sweep on Friday which has had nada impact, other than me feeling a bit sore on Friday.

I'll keep you all updated on progress.

If there is any!

owlbooty · 19/06/2011 11:07

Aw, bugger, Crochet , I was hoping you'd sneakily delivered and just not got round to telling us yet Grin

Hope MiniCrochet makes a move before Friday but if not, like you say, at least you know she'll be arriving then at the very latest!

Emoo it's weird isn't it? Owlet was back to front for ages then one night did a 180 degree spin and suddenly there was no lump under my ribs any more - it was like he'd vanished overnight. I was quite relieved when he moved back even though my ribs weren't :)

cep at the antenatal class yesterday the MW told me to swear as much as I wanted as they've heard it all and worse Grin She said she was more bothered by people apologising all the way through labour! I reckon I shall be swearing like a trooper.

daisy well done on buying something - I freaked myself out completely by actually washing some of the tiniest things I've bought yesterday because I want to pack an 'emergency' hospital bag in case labour kicks off earlier than planned. So I washed 3 little sleepsuits, 3 vests and a hat. And then had a massive wobble about all of it. Mr Boots thought I was looking fondly at the tiny outfits but no.

I have also started cleaning things. This never happens. I'm convinced he's going to turn up early.

cep · 20/06/2011 08:38

morning ladies,

crochet hope things start moving soon, and if not goodluck for friday.

owl Grin i don't go in for this everything must be peaceful etc, it's not a peaceful entrance into the world why do i have to be quiet. I'm sorry you had a wobble, i hope you're ok now.

OrangeGloss · 20/06/2011 09:31

Collie I?ve just bought a Dream Genii and love it it?s so comfy :) I was doing OK with a normal pillow between my legs but needed back support, and this is perfect for me the best nights sleep I?ve had in weeks, and can be used as a feeding pillow after. That?s just my opinion/experience though
it?s scary crossing over, but we?ve all been there so understand
Izzy I?m so glad you got to hear the HB, I cried too but my MW?s used to it Blush that seems a long time to wait between appointments, but it?s my first so I think I get more
Words are to be had with mininix, please get turning and stop booting mummy in the bladder. I thought I was being kicked down there, but at my scan it moved it?s arm and I felt it, so must be a good boxer :)
WIW I?m 29 weeks and just had to google what palpating was Blush you?ve got plenty of time to learn figure all this out. It?s only kinda now-ish that 38 weeks is starting to seem like it might happen
Pink sorry to hear you?re still not better, have things improved over the last few days? How?s the constipation? I?ve resorted to Latulose as nothing else worked. Then I keep eating sweetcorn and popcorn as the MW recommended it and for some reason it works
Daisy how are you feeling now you?ve had a few days to think about things? It?s a good step you?re looking at knitting patterns. You and Pink are getting me into knitting again, what a great positive thing to be occupying myself with. Well done with the shopping too, a great first step
Lara it?s good to see you over here, make yourself at home :) I?ve heard problems with gums are common during pg
Mamap good news on your 25 week appointment and nearly 3rd tri, but :( to hear about the staff issue
Wombat sorry you?re not well, I?m sure they?ll be fine and miniwombat is nice and snugly
Emoo sounds like emoobump is nice and comfy in there :) miniorange seems to rotate so sometimes I get a back and bottom sticking out, other times I get a foot
Crochet good luck for Friday, plenty of time yet
Owl I hope owlet stays nice and comfy cooking, sorry to hear you had a wobble, but it?s a good step forward and sensible planning

Miniorange is sticking to my right side, but seems to be moving in between kicking my ribs (current choice as I'm typing) or sticking it?s bottom out of my side Hmm as long as it?s comfy. I?m still feeling queasy but not been sick again, so not too bad. We?re off to Centre Parcs today, can?t wait. It?s our wedding anniversary tomorrow so having a (limited for me) spa morning and nice meal (with Gaviscon handy) in the evening. Turns out if you?re pg you can have a 3 hour spa session for £10! Obviously as you can?t do many of the activities but still the pool looks lovely

PinkFondantFancy · 20/06/2011 09:36

Haha I should add to my post that I fully intend on doing whatever comes naturally at the time and that is much more likely to be foul mouthed swearing than the 'empowering' but hilarious urghghgh. Grin

crochet sorry you're having a frustrating time. Hopefully now the little one's got an eviction date it'll start wriggling out of its own accord in the meantime. I hope it all goes v smoothly and easily for you.

owl good work packing an emergency bag, sorry it caused a wibble :( it's a huge step done now though so you can just zip up the bag and hopefully not need it for many weeks yet.

It looks like I might be moving house at 36 weeks if everything keeps going smoothly Hmm My last day at work has now been set and I'm finishing around 31 ish weeks so can get lots of sleep/do some packing/write DH a long list of jobs that need doing. I am a leeetle bit stressed because normally when stuff needs doing I just crack on with it but I'm not able to do most of the jobs that need doing in the meantime, like fixing roof tiles Grin so am reliant on constantly nagging DH who seems blissfully in denial....

LaraandLittleBean · 20/06/2011 09:43

Orange - Happy Anniversary! LOL re the Dream Genii post... At pretty much exactly the same time, I wrote the same thing for Collie in the freak-out room. I bought mine on Saturday and since then, have had two beautiful nights' sleep. Enjoy Centre Parcs. Great to get a break now.

Pink - awesome news re the move. If your DH is anything like mine, he'll realise when the move hits him in the face.

I reckon I'll be a swearer when the time comes - I don't actually know how to scream (and certainly won't be quiet), so there'll be lots of effing and blinding from this side. My DH's colleague (from Germany) claims that "German women don't make any noise during labour" - what a load of nonsense surely. How can you make that statement about a whole nation?!

Good luck Crochet! Will be thinking of you...

PinkFondantFancy · 20/06/2011 09:44

Crossed posts with orange! mini pink likes the right side too-MW said my liver is on the right so sleeping over there is like lying against a radiator. I didn't do biology at school si no idea if that's true but v sweet if it is!

Oh update on constipation-the plan worked a treat!! My diet yesterday of prunes, dried apricots, sweetcorn, potatoes, cucumber and loads of water seemed to do the trick although I may have over-egged it as I've now got what feels like trapped wind Grin I feel soooo much better now!

orange have a fantastic time at centre parcs, and happy wedding anniversary!!

cep · 20/06/2011 12:46

Can i just ask the ladies who are further along than me, when did you start feeling stronger movement. I have been feeling it but still not lots, so just wondering when it becomes strong. I can't remember from ds.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 20/06/2011 18:50

CEp - I dodnt start feeling big ones until about 20-22 weeks although I have an anterior placenta so by all means my info means nothing Grin

Sorry havent been about much lately, will be back to catch up later or tmrw :)

owlbooty · 20/06/2011 21:55

Erm...it was pretty late, cep , but then I too have an anterior placenta. I think it was probably about 24 weeks or so.

nickstermum · 20/06/2011 22:42

Agree with owl, mine was v late for proper booting, same placenta too!! Would agree 24 weeks.

Daisybell1 · 21/06/2011 08:37

Morning all! Apols for going AWOL - we escaped the farm for a couple of days and went to stay with OH's relatives in Hebden Bridge - lovely!

Lara I'm afraid you'll have to explain Minigoatbean - huh???

Mamap have you solved your staffing crisis yet? So glad the checkup went well Grin

Emoo that's very reassuring, thank you. Given her parents, she will be a practical/mucky type child I hope! Fear of the unknown is scary, isn't it?

How are you feeling Wombat? Better, I hope. I know you're worried about taking drugs, but Wombatbean needs you fit and well, not constantly poorly.

Cep hormonal teens - eugh

Owl you are VERY brave with the tiny things - I don't think I could do that - if anything happens early here, then OH will be shopping urgently!!!

Pink our yoga teacher was very encouraging of making a noise during childbirth, but she wanted grunting/sighing, rather than swearing.... Hmm

Orange Am soooo jealous of the Center Parcs thing - where did you find out about the £10 deal??? I am only 15mins from Center Parcs and am now packing my swimming stuff to go if I can find that deal!!!

Am good thanks here, Mentalling Midwife phoned yesterday to see how I was doing. Felt a bit embarassed for my initial reaction and the tears, but she's still on the case for a specialist counsellor.

I have a queue of knitting lined up:

am currently in the middle of a striped hooded cardie (although that seems to be coming out a bit big...)
next is a purple fair isle jumper (but that is 0-6months)
Baby Ugg boots
little flared cardi pattern in soft green - hopefully will come out small
Dusky pink and grey stripy jumper
Plus I have some fluffy dark pink wool I'm desperate to use for something.
Oh, and a white ballet cardi (as inspired by Pink)

Only problem is that I'm going to have to knit half of this on the sly as OH doesn't want to know the sex....

PS Cep I've only started having big movements in the last week or so (27 weeks). Daisybean was very quiet for a long time, but because this was normal for her (eek!) I didn't panic.

Apologies to anyone I've missed!

cep · 21/06/2011 13:48

Thanks ladies for answering my question, i think i'm just mentalling a bit for tomorrows scan.

daisy glad you had a nice time away. wow for all the knitting stuff i have knitted since i was in the brownies and can't remember how to do it.

crochetcircle · 21/06/2011 14:23

Daisy saw your call out for a knitting pattern and I just have to share this one:

www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=b16&d_id=1&lang=us

It might be too easy for you, but it knits up really quickly and looks gorgeous - would this work with your fluffy pink wool?

I have not been able to knit since I started maternity leave due to bloody carpal tunnel which kicked off on my last day at work - I'm about six rows off finishing the baby blanket for my imminent arrival, but the wool feels like it burns my fingers as it runs past so I'm not doing very much!

I'd be really interested to see your ugg boots pattern - sounds inordinately cute! Do you crochet too?

BTW - I didn't feel strong movements til quite late either - maybe 27 weeks-ish. The movements I had imagined pregnancy would feel like haven't really kicked in til right at the end (wriggling, feeling actual limbs moving etc).

wombatinwaiting · 21/06/2011 14:40

Thanks to cep for posing the question about movement. I am 17+5 today and getting rather impatient - haven't even had these flutterings that people talk about - it's not freaking me out particularly, I'm just really curious to know what it feels like and also to hopefully get more of a connection with bump. When have you ladies had the flutterings etc. with bub number 1?

While on the subject of yoga etc., has anyone done pregnancy pilates? I'm a big fan of normal yoga, but as I have a slightly dodgy back at the best of times, I'm def keen to strengthen the core muscles and try and get it as solid as possible.

Loving the sound of your knitting daisy - can I put an order in please?!

Thanks for the reassurance orange - feel much better now!

tiggersreturn · 21/06/2011 14:50

Wombat - with ds I felt the first flutter at 19 weeks and this time with 2 it was at 18 weeks. Everyone's different. HTH

OP posts:
cep · 21/06/2011 14:57

wiw i can't remember precisely but am sure i was about 18 -19 weeks at latest. The book says anytime between 18-22 weeks.

crochetcircle · 21/06/2011 15:23

wiw I did pregnancy pilates from about 22 weeks and found it was brilliant, my back definitely benefited from the extra attention.

I did yoga and pilates every week and found it was a good combo - stretching and flexibility from yoga, and core strength from pilates.

If you are in London I could let you have details of the classes I went to?

owlbooty · 21/06/2011 15:37

I'm doing pilates, WIW - I find it really good and a brilliant way of relaxing as well. It was my 'treat' for myself - I'm still doing it now and intend to continue until my inability to get up off the mat goes from being comical to being a serious problem (it's already pretty entertaining for the others in the class) Grin

In terms of first flutter it was directly after my 16 week check having had major amounts of doppler prodding from the MW due to Owlet doing his usual houdini impression - but I felt bugger all for weeks after that and wondered if I had imagined it!

owlbooty · 21/06/2011 15:40

Ps. Daisy am v.impressed by knitting ability as everything I attempt looks shite.

pps. WIW I was reliably assured by those who know that first flutters feel somewhat like a fart that then doesn't happen. They were right. Sorry. I wish it were more poetic. Grin

wombatinwaiting · 21/06/2011 17:17

Thanks all for your v helpful replies on movement ladies, and a special thank you to owl for the fart guidance Grin

Good to know re: the pilates too owl and crochet - I think I'll definitely book up now and continue with the yoga too and the incredibly dull but beneficial power walking on the treadmill as well - would normally love a London recommendation crochet but I'm in Dubai (hence the treadmill walking) - thanks anyway and fingers crossed for an earlier-than-induction appearance from babycrochet
