Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Hello! Am. Allowed to leave this pm, just waiting to see a midwife. But... am being induced on Sunday! Eek!

ghosteditor · 01/02/2012 18:31

That's exciting Sara! Keep us up to date Grin

Penguin, I'm going to a sling meet with cakes next week I think! Should be fun...

Hello Oxford ladies

Wondered if I could butt in here to ask a question?

I'm going to be in Oxford in a few weeks' time. Are there any shops in the city with maternity clothes on display? (Where I am, we've got a small JoJo, and New Look have a bit, but I'm wondering if it's worth making some time to go clothes shopping while I'm there).

Thanks

ghosteditor · 02/02/2012 09:07

Hi there spindelina! Hope you have a good trip to Oxford. Unfortunately, Oxford is a bit rubbish for maternity clothes. At last check, there's a JoJo in Summertown (2 miles north of the city centre) and a Mothercare on the ring road SE of the city. When I asked in Debenhams, M&S, Topshop, Next etc they all looked at me like I was crazy and said they only carried the lines on the website (which is rubbish as Reading has them in store). Sorry it's not better news (from someone who is v glad to be out of maternity clothes!)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/02/2012 10:07

There is a decent primark though and many of my maternity clothes came from there, just buy larger sizes and stretchy things our things with high waists!

H&M is great for maternity stuff too, esp jeans, leggings and trousers, but I don't know if there's one in oxford or if it has the Mama range in...

My entire pregnancy wardrobe was primark, jojo and H&M. still wearing H&M top now to feed in, may keep wearing it anyway. It's pretty and not too bump specific!

Thanks for your thoughts! Ghost, I could stop off at Reading on my way home (have to change trains anyway), hadn't thought of that.

I lost a lot of weight before I got pregnant, so at the moment I'm doing OK in my old fat clothes. But it's not going to be very long before my bump is bump-shaped instead of just a thick waist.

I hate that "are you crazy" look, when you ask if it might possibly be a possibility to try things on before you buy. I don't live in a tiny place, by any means!

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 13:35

No H&M here, I'm going to the Banbury one on Monday as meeting someone there and didn't someone say there was one in Witney.

erm what size are you? I have loads of 8-10 stuff to get rid off.

ghosteditor · 02/02/2012 13:54

Yes there's an H&M in Witney but no maternity range! The H&M in Reading has the Mama range though Smile

Spindelina · 02/02/2012 15:23

Penguin are you serious? I'm 12 bottom, 8-10 top (i.e. pear-shaped, which is why I want to try before I buy - I'm not the same shape as a dressmaker's model. But then again, who is?).

PurplePanda · 02/02/2012 17:28

Due to lack of shops in Oxford I ended up ordering maternity clothes on-line and sending back the things that didn't fit - it was easier for me than travelling to go shopping. In addition to the shops named above, I found topshop, asos and dp had reasonably priced, bump flattering clothes :)

Sara - good luck for Sunday, not long to go now!
Ghost and Cakes - I registered for the sling workshop on Thurs 9th, recommended by Sara - are you guys going there?

Hope everyone is having fun with their little ones :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/02/2012 18:33

We're going to one run by a friend of mine in wallingford on the 10th... Providing we're both up and running by then of course...

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 20:54

I'm not allowed to run for a fair few months yet. Did squeeze a few runs in before they told me though.

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 20:55

I was wondering what people thought of starting a fb group to discuss meet ups or for when people are randomly free but not wanting to give out details on here?

spind well you are welcome to the tops if you wish

bee1983 · 03/02/2012 09:13

Hello, I've recently found out that I'm pregnant and am due in October 2012. I live just outside Oxford and I work in publishing.

Is there anyone else on here who's due later in the year too??

ghosteditor · 03/02/2012 10:41

Penguin I like that idea!

Bee welcome to the list! I'm in publishing too actually Grin. There are still some ladies on the list who haven't had their babies yet, and we hope more will join us as we keep posting. And we're probably due another meet up quite soon!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 03/02/2012 16:15

Fb group sounds good! Welcome Bee. Whereabouts are you outside oxford?

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 03/02/2012 20:34

I can one up, but for it to be secret from set-up I can invite people via email addresses. If people want to pm their email address then I'll get started on it. Otherwise I can friend you on fb and invite you from there but obviously will still need some details.

PenguinArmy · 03/02/2012 20:59

I can set one up

livealoha · 03/02/2012 22:54

Hullo Lucy here changed my name!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/02/2012 03:23

Rollersara · 04/02/2012 08:53

FB sounds like a good idea to me!

bee1983 · 05/02/2012 08:01

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome! I live in a small village between Wantage and Didcot, about 20 min down the A34 from Oxford. I lived in East Oxford for years until we moved here last year.

A FB group sounds great as long as it doesn't show up on my page!!! It's still very early days for me :)

bee1983 · 05/02/2012 10:47

Oh and hello ghosteditor, nice to meet somebody else in publishing! I don't work in Oxon any more so I don't think we know each other in real life, although you never know :)

PurplePanda · 06/02/2012 16:23

Hi Bee :)

fb group sounds good

ghosteditor · 07/02/2012 09:37

Hi ladies! So should we be thinking about a meet up sometime soon? Smile
