Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

MakesCakesWhenStressed - expecting #1 EDD 10 Jan 2012

Hi all yes I believe we discussed meeting at cowley retail park as a half way point. Don't actually know but think there maybe a coffee shop in tescos? Shall look up and confirm. V much looking forward to meeting all these babies!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/01/2012 08:17

Wait, what? This Thursday?

and yes, the Tescos there has a Costa coffee...

Rollersara · 22/01/2012 08:32

Oo, I'm working from home that day and am 10 minutes drive away. Does it count as an ante-natal appointment?!

PenguinArmy · 22/01/2012 08:34

I believe so Roller

I live near Tesco if people would rather come to my house for coffee (it's real coffee as well but I can't do frothy milk)

PurplePanda · 22/01/2012 15:52

Hi Ladies,

How's everybody getting on? We had an interesting incident with projectile poo whilst nappy changing this morning....otherwise things are ok

The list of places with changing facilities + breastfeeding friendly:

Ashmolean Cafe
Blue palms Brasserie (Summertown)
Browns restaurant
Cafe Rouge
Cherwell Boathouse
Museum of modern art
Magic cafe
Jam factory
All bar one
Wine cafe (Summertown)
All Tescos and Sainsbury's stores

I've noticed the list is from 2007, but I think all these places are still open. I like the magic cafe, which is in Cowley (maybe 5-10 mins from the Tescos), the only downside is it's on street parking only.

I can't make the meet up this Thurs, but would love to come and meet you all and your little ones soon.

Penguin - what type/brand of sling did you have at the last meet up and where did you get it from? I haven't got a sling yet but think J would love to ride around in it.

PurplePanda · 22/01/2012 16:06

Ghost - love the name Juliet

ghosteditor · 22/01/2012 16:44

Thanks! Unfortunately, I'm still in hospital, but I think they've decided to stop tinkering with my meds and send me away with a week's worth of them. I'll have to go for BP readings every day at my GP but that 's infinitely preferable to staying in for monitoring! I really hope I can go home tomorrow; it'll be the best birthday present ever!!!

Ps Thursday sounds fun subject to me being at home, coping, and not attending a doc's appt!

chocolatesparkle · 22/01/2012 18:17

Yes Cakes, this Thursday.

Great suggestions Purple. I think that we should prioritise easy parking-Oxford is such a nightmare and now people have little babies the last thing you want is to be parking miles away. It's very kind of you to invite us Penguin, is there easy parking nearby? If you think that there will be too many of us, just say. I don't mind if we do Tesco's or Penguin's.

Really hope to see you there Ghost, great news that you're getting released from hospital, and RollerSara, this is defo an antenatal appt-you'll be getting first hand tips from new mums-money cannot buy that kind of experience!!

Hopefully see you next time Purple and maybe Moobie too? Lucycarr we get to meet both your little ones, I'm so excited!!

Rollersara · 22/01/2012 19:29

Purple have you come across this?
www.oxfordslingmeet.co.uk/

If anyone is interested I have three slings a colleague lent me, I can bring them on Thursday if you want to try them? I can work two of them, but only tried with a pretend baby!

chocolatesparkle · 22/01/2012 19:35

Oh, i'd love to see the slings please Rollersara I have no idea how you begin to choose one.

PenguinArmy · 22/01/2012 20:13

There is enough parking here as we have a little overflow car park. I won't be offended if people would rather not, except I can't really take the toddler to a cafe. It's a little small but could take 8 on sofas and table chairs plus 1 on the toy box.

I see lots of babies are now here, congratulations everyone.

My sling is a kari-me (brand) which is a wrap (type). Would second the sling meet suggestion. Even if you already have a sling as I found I needed someone just to give me that extra tip that made all the difference in comfort.

Rollersara · 22/01/2012 22:43

I have a baba sling, a baby bjorn and a wrap, I'll bring them but can't guarantee any useful advice! :)

ghosteditor · 23/01/2012 08:31

Hi ladies! Still in hospital here but looking hopeful that I might be able to go home today!

I would be keen for Thursday and either venue would be lovely!

On the subject of slings, we have a Kari-Me and a baby Bjorn, but since Jools hasn't left the hospital yet, I haven't tried them out!

Moobee · 23/01/2012 10:10

Hello all, sorry I've been missing in action for a little while. Our baby girl was born on Jan 15th and she's been keeping is quite busy since then! She was 7lb 12oz and is beautiful - I've put a picture of her on her birthday on my profile. :)

A meet up sounds fun, but I'll need to play it by ear as we've not been out much yet.

Hope everyone else is well, I'll read through the rest of the thread now x

ghosteditor · 23/01/2012 10:53

WE'RE GOING HOME!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

PenguinArmy · 23/01/2012 11:02

yayyyy for ghost :)

PurplePanda · 23/01/2012 16:43

Congrats Moobee :), Congrats Ghost on going home!

Thanks to everyone for sling advice - I've signed up for the workshop on 9th Feb.

ghosteditor · 23/01/2012 18:18

We're in the car on the way home now!!! Wink GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Rollersara · 24/01/2012 08:27

So pleased for you ghost!

Lucycarr · 24/01/2012 10:54

Well done Ghost enjoy x

I'm easy on venue guys just give me an address and I will be there!

Penguin - I will have my 3 yr old with me too if the decided venue is your place will that be ok?

Looking forward to it : )

chocolatesparkle · 24/01/2012 20:09

Yay ghost, hope it's going well.

If penguin is happy to have us, then why dont we go there? That way easier for hers and Lucy's bigger ones.

Penguin do you mind pm'ing us your address.

PenguinArmy · 25/01/2012 13:12

before I pm address, DD still has the a slight viral rash but is other wise well. However I would completely understand if people would rather not come.

ghosteditor · 25/01/2012 18:28

Hi ladies, I'm going to have to bow out I'm afraid as my BP is still rising and I'm under strict instructions to take it easy. Also being a little PFB about the viral rash thing - thanks much for letting us know penguin, I just feel she's a bit tiny to risk it. Thanks for the kind offer though! Count me in next time.

PenguinArmy · 25/01/2012 18:42

I hope it stabilises soon ghost

I expect people to be pfb wary of lurgy so am assuming someone will pop up and say they prefer costa at which point Costa it will be. Otherwise I'll pm late tonight or in the morning.

PenguinArmy · 25/01/2012 19:00

ps who do I need to pm?
