Cherrypi · 20/04/2011 22:24

I tried the alcohol free cobra yesterday and didn't like it at all. Could be pregnancy taste buds.

goodegg · 20/04/2011 22:36

Felicific thank you, that website is really useful Smile

I heart MN for this kind of thing!

adalle · 20/04/2011 23:42

Welcome lala...

DarciesmumandBump2 · 21/04/2011 06:40

Morning Ladies.

Feel bleurgh and my boobs are starting to hurt. So glad it's bank holiday tomorrow, no work = lay in. Well a small one at least.

lalababy · 21/04/2011 07:57

Hmmm... I am off to Italy tomorrow... So I wonder if they have have non alcoholic wine :)
Wow all this talk of hospitals has me worried. I have been reading so many horror stories. It looks like I will aim for either QC or Chelsea & Westminister... No idea what that means tho!!!

I found a great book it is called Christine Hill's Pregnancy Guide. It gives some good advice and guides you through the choices / process within NHS.

BlueCrane · 21/04/2011 09:47

Morning all...I seem to have cramps as I'm waking up in the morning but then ok for the rest of the day. Am less bloated than I was last week which means trousers fitting a bit better at the mo! But my bra's are starting to reach bursting point and boobs v sore at night and twinges during th day! I popped into town yesterday and really wanted to look at mat clothes and bras but was so scared of being spotted...such a pain! And Boots have an amazing 3for2 offer on all baby stuff but it's way too early to buy stuff which is sooo frustrating...trying not to think about missing the deal and all the lovely advantage card points that I could then use to treat me to stuff Sad It's just not worth buying stuff in case it all goes wrong as it would be awful to have to take stuff back or have it hanging around the house waiting for next time! Still no sickness though Smile

Felicific · 21/04/2011 09:48

Im going around in circles about hospitals too! Would like a home birth but reading about danger of phoning in and being tole not enough staff and then fighting to get someone to you. If I knew the Maternity Units would be open I def go there. Even looking at private now but worried will be a waste of money and being precious!!!

BlueCrane · 21/04/2011 09:52

I've not really thought too much about hospitals...all my friends have used the local one and said it's ok. There's a couple more within relatively easy reach but with the possibility of v bad traffic to get to them so think I'll stick with the local one. I can't face the thought of having a home birth as would be paranoid I'd still need whisking into hospital so would prefer to just be there to start with! My SIL was at a MW lead centre and they were excellent in terms of care but she tore v badly and they did a bad job of stitching and she's had loads of problems since. She wouldn't say a word against them but I'm sure she would've healed quicker if she'd been stitched properly and it really made her quite ill for the first 3 months after the birth which is such a crucial time, esp with DC1.

Felicific · 21/04/2011 09:54

Well done bluecrane for not giving in to the shopping :) I have cramps todat but maybe the berries I just ate!

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 09:59

Welcome lalababy. I looked in sainsburys on way home last night for alcofree beer but none there booooo. But they were out of loads of things - hardly any fruit and veg, no feta (sob). Wonder why.

Anyhoooo I am not nauseous today yet - woohoo!

holidays as of 5pm cannot wait! have to get up at 5am tomorrow though :( early boat to Ireland. But will have a lovely sleep on Saturday! Let's hope this weather lasts ... would be so evil to have been gorgeous all week and then turn bad when the hols start!

Just bought 2 packs of Becks Blue for the easter weekend!

Doctor booked me into local hospital even though might move to make sure get all my scans, though she did say to phone unit where I'd like to go. Pretty uneventful AND I didn't get any leaflets or books!!! :) Really not bothered - bought two at the weekend...

Very crampy today :( and have tickly cough which is making me paranoid I'm going to dislodge baby :o

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 12:11

:) I doubt coughing will dislodge it!!!

I must get my hands on some alco-free beer now for the weekend. I am hoping i can find erdinger. Love weissbier. I have totally gone off wine though It's quite handy as am normally a bit of a lush!

Hi everybody, I went to the doctor yesterday and had my pregnancy confirmed - due 19th December! Sounds like most of you have symptoms already - I have the achiest boobs imaginable and did have a bad back last week and early this week but fingers crossed that seems to have stopped! Also keep waking up really early (4.30 this morning) and can't get back to sleep - have any of you experienced this? I'm a teacher so loving the easter holidays at the moment - not sure how I'll cope when we go back next week!

Really looking forward to chatting to you all and sharing stories before we tell everyone else! First baby so still can't really believe it is happening!

Wishing you all well xxx

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 12:16

Congratulations zambooloo!
First baby too - excited and nervous in equal measure. Mainly nervous something will go wrong rather than about actual reality of having a real live child to take care of. Guess that will come later!

zambooloo · 21/04/2011 12:20

Me too mopsytop - doesn't really feel as if there is a real baby inside does it?!? I have already become quite obsessed with looking at baby stuff on internet but am definitely not buying anything (trying to be sensible and grown up)!

figgygal · 21/04/2011 12:23

Zambooloo u r so lucky u have medical confirmation I am 8 weeks today and still got 3 weeks before i can see midwife our surgery not interested in seeing me. Ho hum those tests had better not be wrong still no sickness but lots of twinges so hoping it really is a baby not just wind or something :-)

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 12:26

figgygal I have only had home tests too and no confirmation but apparently false positives are super rare (nearly impossible) and also the home ones are the exact same technology as the ones in doctor's surgery so it would tell you nothing more. So I wouldn't worry, I'd say you're defs UTD!

OP posts:
zambooloo · 21/04/2011 12:29

I had a bit of a worry about the tests too figgygal - I did 2 tests (both positive) and then went to the dr last week, they did another test and it was negative! So then I was totally worried that the tests I had done were wrong or something but I had twinges and really sore boobs and of course no period but was still worried. I then became a bit obsessed with pregnancy tests and did another 2 before I went back to the dr. yesterday. She said it is virtually impossible to get a false positive (let alone 4!) How many tests have you done? If still no period then I'm sure you are!!

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 12:33

I did six! one last Wednesday, two on Thursday, two Friday and one Saturday!!! The little pink line got steadily stronger and the 2 digital ones both said pregnant. What a waste of money! But it reassured me.

figgygal · 21/04/2011 12:35

M sure I am too no appetite very tired a couple of days lots of twinges which I'm putting down to uterus stretching and 3 tests. Can u imagine how embarrassing it'd be to go to midwife and u have imagined it all!!!

zambooloo · 21/04/2011 12:35

I know - every time you get another positive it does make you feel good! I took a photo of mine - what a loser!!

mopsytop · 21/04/2011 12:36

So did my husband. So we can be losers together! I think it's okay. It's an exciting time. I won't be posting it on Facebook though :)
