Hi everyone

zam don't know about chicken pox unfortunately - why don't you ring up your midwife or NHS direct?
How is everyone feeling? I am still exhausted - in bed by 8pm every night. The nausea and headaches now appear to be alternating, so it's either one or the other which is better than both at once. Couldn't eat most of my breakfast just now :( but at least no headache today!
I can't believe I still have 4 weeks to wait til my scan. Won't have it until week 13. It feels like forever away!

Morning all,
Today has not begun well - feeling so sick i ummed and ahhed whether to come in to work - what is it about being preggo that makes you think you should just suck it up and get on with it?! If I felt like this pre-preggo I wouldn't have hesitated to WFH. Are we brave or stupid?!

Its been a while since i posted and i'm still very new to MN so here's me. 32, first baby EDD 20th Dec. Scan booked for 3 weeks tomorrow and I can't wait!!!
So far escaped any actual vomiting but nausea has me begging for mercy this last week. Ah well, 9 teaching days til half term! WOOP!
Have a good Tuesday ladies x

Hi All

figgy I was so relieved to read your post - thought I was the only one feeling that way! I'm so worried about how we're going to cope financially and how I'm going to cope. I actually wailed "I've ruined our lives" at my husband the other day, luckily he's an absolute star and managed to calm me down. Thank god for him at least our kid'll have one sane parent!

Also, sazzer I'm the same with feeling I've got to suck it up and get on with it, feel pathetic when I can't manage to do things I usually take for granted, went shopping today and almost keeled over in the middle of a shop as I was carrying too much for too long, too far. Not to mention I can't help with decorating (ladders, paint fumes etc) or gardening (needing to do heavy digging) or even too much housework before I'm exhausted!

Dating scan is 2 days away now and am so excited - can't wait to start telling everyone, I'd love to say I'm not going to turn into one of those mums that bores everyone to tears with her kids but I already do that with my cats! :)

mummy2be2011 · 17/05/2011 18:32

Hi this is my first baby i am 11 weeks and really scared about going for my 12 weeks scan just incase sumthin is wrong i keep telling myself it will be fine n healthy does any1 else feel like this about a scan, the only thing is last year when i went for my 12 weeks scan they told me they couldnt find a heartbeat n my baby had died at 10 weeks :( i am also due on the 5th december as i had a scan at 7 weeks n they told me everything is fine. Please help!!!

BluebellsintheSpring · 17/05/2011 22:17

Mummytobe, I think it's completely natural to be feeling what you're feeling right now. Most people are very scared about their 12 week scan and they haven't experienced what you have. I know my m/c earlier this year haunted my early weeks of pregnancy.

On the positive side, medical staff say the same thing is unlikely to happen twice. In reality, the only thing that will give you proper piece of mind is the scan. I kept trying to tell myself that worrying wouldn't change any outcomes but the reality is, we're human, hormonal and geared for worry! Just remember you're in good company

YBR · 18/05/2011 18:50

Bluebellsinthespring, unfortunately similar things do happen twice. I guess I could be quite rare but I've had 2 MMCs, both had died around 8 weeks. I do hope and pray this doesn't happen to Mummy2Be - or anyone else.

I'm now 8 weeks with 3rd pg. I got an early scan which showed a heartbeat at 6 weeks which was a relief but my ms is not as bad as it was and other symptoms seem to be fading and I'm getting really worried it'll happen a third time. I've not got an appointment for a dating scan yet which doesn't help. (I only saw the MW for the first time on Friday - the doc referred me for the early scan because he could see how anxious I was). I think I'll go insane if I have to wait for weeks ...

BluebellsintheSpring · 18/05/2011 22:19

YBR sorry if I seemed insensitive - I've very close hand experience of multiple miscarriages myself. Didn't mean it can't happen again. I was told by midwife a missed m/c was less likely to repeat itself but bodies and pregnancy are very complex. Apologies again - I truly hope everything is okay for you as well.

Greenfingers1971 · 18/05/2011 22:34

Congratulations all! I am 10 weeks on friday (due 20th Dec), after IVF - first cycle so I am very surprised! I too am worried that the scan will show nothing - as now all the hormones related to IVF have stopped, I don't feel pregnant at all - apart from just more tired than normal. Hubbie keeps talking to my belly and I have to keep telling him not to get too hopeful just yet, but bless him, he doesn't listen!

mopsytop · 19/05/2011 08:34

mummytobe and YBR really sorry to hear about your MCs. Really hope everything goes okay this time.

congrats greenfingers!

I have been SO SICK yesterday, couldn't keep a thing down. Also have been having awful headaches. Really not fun. Woke up this morning at 6 with a really bad one, but paracetamol appear to have helped slightly, teaching at 10 so hopefully I will get through it ok. How is everyone else feeling?

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 19/05/2011 09:25

mopsy hope your headache goes soon.

I'm feeling v down this morning and just very unsure about everything. Still another week to wait for my scan and booking appointment and the wait seem to get worse with each day that passes! I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow (chance it might be 10 due to long cycle but sticking with 11 for my own sanity at the moment). Had really tearful morning and sat at work feeling as though i could crack again at any moment! Just so nervous that there will be something wrong at the scan or nothing there at all! Was hoping to at least had booking app by now for some reassurance but that's next Thursday too Sad Will be so glad to get past this first trimester!!

figgygal · 19/05/2011 16:41

BlueCrane i still feel that way and am 12 weeks today my DH getting annoyed with me cos i cant help but worry and he thinks i am being negative. It has been the longest 6 weeks of my life up until my scan tonight and god help me for the next 6 months.

Anyone know if i get a scan pic at the 12 week appt?

mopsytop · 19/05/2011 17:22

I feel the same way too BlueCrane and figgy and my scan isn't for over 3 weeks. I'll be 13 weeks when I have it. It feels like forever away!

Good luck for your scan figgy - I think you get a pic but you need to bring change! At least on my scan appointment letter it says you can get a photo for £2 but you need to bring the correct change - might be different in your district?

OP posts:
figgygal · 19/05/2011 18:00

Oh blimey not had a letter the midwife arranged it on phone with me as was short notice will have to get some change pronto

figgygal · 19/05/2011 20:44

Hello all back from the scan dates were way out I'm a week and a half behind where we thought so rather than 12 weeks today am back to 10+3 so back to the worry of the 1st trimester. Was going to tell work tomorrow but will wait now still gonna tell the in laws this weekend as DH getting twitchy. New EDD is 12th December have a scary feeling it's gonna be a Xmas baby.

Was nice to see heartbeat and a little waving arm got to have another scan in 2 weeks so can have the downs screening Have a photo in the meantime. Def starting to feel more real now.

rattyratbag · 20/05/2011 06:53

Hey Figgy
Totally know how you feel. When I found out last week that I was over 2 weeks less pregnant than I thought it took a little while to get my head round. It also means the chances of me having a Christmas or new year baby are high as edd is Christmas eve!

I have had my booking app now. Mw was really nice. She has booked me in on 7th for scan. It will be 11 w 4 from my new edd.

Blue - I had a really low say too. V nauseous, short tempered, tearful. Really hope you have a better day today.

Have a good day ladies

BlueCrane · 20/05/2011 10:26

figgy glad scan all good, though frustrating for you on the dates!!

ratty I'm feeling so so much better today...much more positive. Think I had crazy surge of hormones sending me v emotional and giveing me lots of spots!!

mopsy hang in there!!

kri5ty · 20/05/2011 10:38

Thought i would come and join the conversation :-)

Im due dec 14th although my date keeps getting earlier everytime i go to the hospital! I live in manchester and its our first one

I had lots of terrible pains during the first 6 weeks and they thought it was ectopic so i had a few scans and its not, even saw the heartbeat... but now im worried as im havingn no symptoms... i have my booking in app next week, and im keeping my fingers crossed im just lucky!!

figgygal · 20/05/2011 14:35

Oops I ate brie today we had a lunch put on at work and the only sandwich I could eat due to me being fussy was cheese ate 2 triangle sized sarnies before realising it wasn't cheddar sure ill be fine but need to be more careful. Silly me

kri5ty · 20/05/2011 17:27

im sure you will be fine figgygal :-)

As long as you dont eat it every meal of every day!! I know what you mean about being careful... i have slipped up once, it doesnt help that my pregnancy brain has kicked in and i forget very easily! haha x

Bexworth28 · 21/05/2011 11:11

Hi gals,

Had my scan on Thursday and turns out I'm at least a week earlier than we thought although she couldn't be sure as the measurements varied from making it 10 weeks 6 days to 11 weeks 2 days! Got to go back next week for the nuchal measurement as it wasn't clear enough no matter how much she poked my painfully full bladder!

The scan was amazing though, being able to see baby react to an outside stimulus, it sounds daft but I'd got it in my head that the baby was too small to have that kind of connection to the outside world but seeing it flip over and move about when prodded makes me realise that it can feel and does react just like it will when it grows. Wow!

I've also slipped up in the last few weeks with eating the wrong stuff - made a carbonara a few weeks ago and had homemade lemon curd the other day. D'oh!

DH got really upset last night as he's discovered that a relative he was really looking forward to telling has found out through word of mouth. We've only just started telling people so the jungle drums have obviously been busy! We'd planned to tell this relative when we got out for a meal on Tuesday but now he feels like it's been ruined thanks to him telling the wrong people first. :(

ElleEW34 · 21/05/2011 14:07

Hi everyone, hope your feeling well today.

Bex & Figgy - congratulations in your first scan. It sounds like a great experience being able to see the little person in there move around.

mopsy my scan is in just over 3 weeks too. It seems like ages away! But work will be busy for me so hopefully it won't drag too much!

Decided to try and get some exercise today after taking a few weeks out while feeling sick - tried aqua as it was low impact - told the instructor I was pregnant and she changed some of the exercises for me.

Trying to have a nap now after the class as sleepy but have a builder bashing about downstairs! Oh well!

mopsytop · 22/05/2011 12:05

Hi everyone, Bex sorry to hear the word got round too fast, that's annoying :( But great news about the scan!

Elle I am at the stage where (in spite of the fact that I have been vomiting up at least half my meals lately and having awful headaches and feeling knackered all the time) I sort of feel like I imagined the whole thing and am not pregnant. I think until I have the scan I just feel a bit in limbo. I think I found out so early (before I even missed my period) that it feels like aaaggggeees since I know. Can't believe still 3 weeks until the scan. I have a busy few weeks too - let's hope they fly!

Anyway, hope you're having a good weekend all!
