I am sure this has been done dozens of times before but still...
what works for you?

So far this time round my nausea is eased most obviously by:

toasted bagels
s&v crisps (of course)
mashed potato, ideally with cheese
macaroni cheese

This is not a long enough list! Please add to it!

it was a licence to scoff croissants, pancakes, hot cross buns and scones for me. I went completely off choc?!?!?!? Totally back on it now though thank goodness Grin

Salty pretzels
any type of melon
strawberries
baked potatoes - skin only - with salt (why???)

I lost a lot of weight on this 'diet'!

socialhandgrenade · 13/04/2011 18:35

Fennel tea
bananas (absolutely hate them now)
Ginger nut biscuits

Staceroo · 13/04/2011 19:54

Also coco pops! how wierd! DH think's chocolate cereal is not good for me.. but baby gets what baby wants!

Dry crunchie nut cornflakes
salted pretzels
quavers
and mints to take away the metal taste!

Loving the pickled onions suggestion! Going to try that!

HPSource · 13/04/2011 21:04

Urgh to sweet stuff. It's all about the carbs! Trying to eat yogurt too for the calcium :-)

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 13/04/2011 21:09

Oh dear, this thread is making me feel pukey all over again!

Really, I think the best remedy is the hiding under the duvet reading or iPlayer-ing trash and constantly telling yourself that it will all pass by 12 (or 14, or 16) weeks.

But it only really works for the first pregnancy. After that, there will be other DCs to take care of...

aquavit · 14/04/2011 11:20

Sorry Breastmilk. I so wish I could resort to the duvet...work and toddler-wrangling get in the way of that a bit though!

I have just discovered M&S cheese and onion rolls - they seem to be doing the trick for me this morning, though I wish they were hot. It's definitely all about the carbs for me too, but last time round I preferred sweeter blander ones, whereas this time I am loving things that are more salty/cheesy/oniony (still can't abide the smell of onion though, have had to hide my chopping boards).

Also loving the idea of flavoured milk. I am doing an Ocado shop on another window as I read this thread - not sure what dh is going to make of what I've ordered!

Cornflakes (first think in the morning before doing anything else) with ice cold soya milk and chopped banana and dried cranberries

Second breakfast (!) at about 11 involving some kind of egg.

Fizzy / sherbetty sweets in an emergency

Organic apples

Toasted pitta bread (I have wheat free) or rye bread with cheese and mayo

Curries

I find that eating regularly and keeping blood sugar really stable is best way to neutralise any sickness - oh, and not rushing or stressing!

localcrackpot · 14/04/2011 12:31

I think I'm having a northern baby - often all I can eat is vimto and mini pork pies... specifically, the pork and pickle ones by pork farm.
Before that it was just bananas.

Asinine · 14/04/2011 12:33

Oatcakes really work and come in handy packs of four biscuits.

FanillaFudge · 14/04/2011 13:04

Salt and Vinegar squares.

Haribo.

Coco pops.

That was all, for me Grin

Now I'm craving those Unearthed packs of olives / sun dried toms.

Woodifer · 14/04/2011 13:13

crisps
crisps
olives
cheese on toast
peanut butter on toast
crisps
bagels
bread
toast
crisps
did i mention crisps?

BlueCrane · 14/04/2011 13:16

mmm...reading this has made me wonder how on earth I am going to keep this thing quiet at work until 12 weeks?! Only 5 weeks and not got ms yet and hope I don't but there's obviously a chance I will. I work in an office full of guys and whilst they might not notice strange food immediately as PG sign we do all comment on each others eating habits all the time so if I suddenly go for beetroot and salt and vinegar crisps all day they are definitely going to wonder Hmm

8rubberduckies · 14/04/2011 13:20

Boiled sweets
Large tubs of Yeo Valley Yoghurt
Fizzy drinks (in particular Fanta Limon)
Hula Hoops
Crumpets with Marmite
Boiled eggs (couldn't stomach scrambled)
Those Jacobs cheesey biscuits with fake cheese sandwiched between them
I couldn't get out of bed in the morning without eating a banana first, so would put one on my bedside table before I went to bed every night (would often munch on half of it during the night, much to my DPs consternation)

I am 30 weeks now and still cannot look a crumpet, Jacobs cheesey biscuit or packet of Hula Hoops in the eye, as I think I overdid it a bit....

HipHopopotomus · 14/04/2011 13:30

almonds!!!

HipHopopotomus · 14/04/2011 13:32

poached eggs on vogels toast actually got me through 2 PG's - can eat anytime at any stage!!!

Magnums - the mini ones will do (even the fake tesco ones work)

TobyLerone · 14/04/2011 13:35

Definitely salted pretzels. And ready salted squares.

UntamedShrew · 14/04/2011 13:36

Polos and tonic water. A highly nutritious diet for the first 21 weeks - and I gave birth to 2 big healthy boys who are absolutely stonking sizes now.

HipposGoBeserk · 14/04/2011 13:37

Popcorn.

Apparently you cannot physically feel sick whilst eating, and popcorn is so full of air that you can eat a massive amount of it, thereby prolonging the point at which you have to stop eating and feel ill again.

FannyPriceless · 14/04/2011 13:42

Savoury / salty food works best!

fish fingers
oven chips with bisto gravy and yorkshire pud
white toast with salted butter or marmite
instant noodles with extra curry powder
mini pork pies
thick crinkle cut crisps

Sweeter items included

cheerios
eggy bread with brown sugar
dried apricots

Careful · 14/04/2011 13:53

Not food but carbonated water actually eased the sickness a bit so I could eat.

LaWeasel · 14/04/2011 14:06

Pepperami, sausage rolls. maccyds.

Basically salt + meat = the win.

SeriousWispaHabit · 14/04/2011 14:26

Salt and vinegar squares
Salt and vinegar hula hoops
Butterscotch angel delight
Hash browns
Ryvita with marmite
Chips with LOTS of salt and vinegar
Fizzy haribo
grapes eaten from a bowl of iced water
oranges kept in the fridge

LaWeasel · 14/04/2011 14:29

Oh yes, also sharply flavoured apples (cox, braeburn etc). Mid morning and in the evening, every day. (spent a fortune on apples!)
