Heartburn, weird dreams, kicking baby.

Mostly the heart burn, just been sicl too.

Am really tired but can't get comfy.

Anyone else feeling a bit blurgh at the home stretch? Just kind of feel like I'm getting to the point where I've had enough of being pregnant but then once the baby comes I'm not gonna get much rest am I?! Grin

Me! Watching Sky News! I think i could probably present the bulletin I've heard it so many times!

wobblyweeble82 · 14/04/2011 02:23

At least you're bang up to date on current affairs. Because obviously, you're going to be going to many grown-up dinner parties in the next few weeks where such chit-chat is invaluable ... Lead Balloon is on Dave with Jack Dee. He's as miserable as meeeee! A room full of frowns! Anyhoo, what's stopped your sleep the most Lis? Are you not even mildly contracting? That'd make my insomnia much more exciting! If you could make it happen, that would be super Grin

LisMcA · 14/04/2011 02:26

No not tonight, got Peter Kay tomorrow!!

I've just not gone to bed yet, I know it'spointless unless my eyes are actually closing. Nothing worse than lying in the dark with only your own thoughts for company!

wobblyweeble82 · 14/04/2011 02:32

Oh I agree, hence the sofa migration. And I s'pose it'll be MORE exciting if you start going for it at Peter Kay. But still! I'm just going to have to be mildly entertained by my Braxton Hicks. I'm now sat with my feet in a lavender infused foot spa. My midwife advised this to help knock me out. I'll be honest, it just makes me need a wee ...

Hey, just think, this time next week, you might be sat here saying you can't get little bundle to sleep! Do you know what you're having?

LisMcA · 14/04/2011 02:41

Yeah, its a boy! Our first! Possibly our last if this experience has anything to do with it! But I'll never say never!

All is ready now, nursery decorated, clothes all washed, house cleaned(courtesy of my mum). Just waiting for a baby now!

I fully expect to have sleepless nights once he is here, but I just can't wait to be able to sleep on my front again and not feel like I'm trying to turn the world when I need to roll over!

wobblyweeble82 · 14/04/2011 02:51

Ahhh lovely. Boys are ace :) I've a DS who is 7 the week this one is due and he's brought me so much fun and joy. You get lots of cuddles off boys - they seem to need you longer than girls. Mums and sons and all that :) I'm having a girlie and I'm damned if I know what I'm going to do with a girl! I don't do pink!

And sleeping on your tummy ... swooooon ... I'm looking forward to be acutally having a full bladder. And being able to put my socks on without grunting. Heck, it'll jsut be nice to have my body back. But saying all this, you do miss the bump when its gone. S'funny, seeing as we all spend the final few weeks whinging away. You'll be in the bath when baby is about 10 days old and you'll think 'Awwww, my bumps gone!'. Blancmange tummies aren't anywhere near as nice to look at as baby bump tummies!

Anyway, the yawns are kicking on so I'm going to stomp about noisily sneak upstairs and see whether or not I'm to be blessed with sleep. Hope the sleep arrives that side and that Mr Kay works his magic Grin

LisMcA · 14/04/2011 02:54

Fingers crossed! Night!

Pootletrinket · 14/04/2011 08:41

Never say never indeed LisMcA! I said never and now look where I am!

Managed to sleep 10.30 - 3.00 and then awake until 4.30, just dozed off and DD woke me up - grrr. Managed a doze again after telling her off a few times

Leilababyno1 · 14/04/2011 14:40

Hi ladies...

Booked some reflexology for tomorrow...apparently might help things along...Hmm

Anyone else tried it? If nothing else it will be LOVELY to have my feet rubbed for an hour!!! Bit pricey, but hey I figure I deserve it!

Pootletrinket · 14/04/2011 15:20

Yes, Leila, had 6 sessions in last 3 weeks, last one with a bloke (on EDD) who reckons he has 80% success rate with women on/past their EDD going into labour within 24 hours. That was 54 hours ago :(

But it is LOVELY and very relaxing. Don't get your hopes up too much, though, reckon that's why I had a bit of a crash yesterday afternoon (of hopes/expectations, not physical crash)

Leilababyno1 · 14/04/2011 15:43

Oh Pootletrinket you must be almost bankrupt!!?? It's an expensive business trying to get these babies moving!!

I know, it can be very frustrating and I'm not even overdue yet!! I suppose there is a lot of truth in that age old saying of 'baby will come, when baby is ready' and not a minute before! And for you that COULD be any minute now...just hang onto that fact- you might go to bed tonight and wake up at 5am tomorrow with full on contractions!

It's funny that labour is one of the ONLY times we desperately want to wake up in pain!! I had really awful lower backache last night and got EXCITED??- crazy!!

Have you had a sweep yet? I know the MWs in my area offer one at the 40 wk check-up...

Pootletrinket · 14/04/2011 16:38

No, our local hosp policy is not to offer one until 41 weeks. Got one booked for Thurs, but may well cave and ask for one on Monday instead!!! Hope it doesn't come to that

Yes, fairly bankrupt although one is a friend of friend and her sesions are £30 each or 3 for £80, whereas other chap who is full time reflexologist with optimistic assrtions charges £35 each.

Pootletrinket · 14/04/2011 16:41

I also believe in the 'will come when it's ready' but reckon getting body into as prepared a state as possible will help!! And apparently there are studies that show people who've had reflexology during pregnancy need less interventions - worth a shot!!

StiffyByng · 14/04/2011 17:04

Hiya. I'm 37 weeks and going insane! I have SPD and a trapped nerve so am in pain most of the time, worst of all at night. I've read this thread and want to hug you all.

I'm having my first reflexology session this weekend, and the midwife has just recommended acupuncture every other day. If I do that, plus the chiropractor and the massage therapist, I'll be spending about the equivalent of a Bugaboo by the time the baby emerges! And it's bloody painful to go to it all. I would luuurrvve to wake up with contractions!

Leilababyno1 · 14/04/2011 17:05

ooooh good stuff then- it can't be bad can it!? The lady round my way is charging £45 for 1 and 1/2hrs, so not thaaaat bad...

In the meantime, maybe do some bouncing on the birth ball- I always feel like that's helping a little whenever I can be arsed doing it. I keep expecting to see a show any time I go to the loo- but no such luck!

Leilababyno1 · 14/04/2011 17:10

Blimey StiffyByng you WILL be bankrupt! Ha..ha- good luck though!

Why is it that EVERY day during the last couple of weeks (or more...arghhh!!) feels like an eternity- maybe I should try n get out more!

Pizza tonight, so that should keep my mind off all things labour for an hour or so!Grin

frakyouveryverymuch · 14/04/2011 17:53

I know what you mean about excited by backache! I had that and period type pain earlier with a couple of not-very-painful contractions and was soooo excited.

Sadly, it would seem to be nothing....

growing3rdbump · 14/04/2011 18:01

I was having trouble sleeping until I sent DH on to a mattress on the floor - Now I sleep much better!!! This is DC3 and I have the other two at home all day as it's Easter hol, so I guess I'm so exhausted by bed time I'm finally managing to sleep through the baby kicking, aching body etc...!

Pootletrinket · 14/04/2011 18:39

Oh yes, DH has been in the spare room for almost a week; doesn't stop me from waking in the night, but can help not staying awake too long and let's me stretch out my arms - both of which are bad elbow to fingers from carpal tunnel syndrome.

Occasionally get twinges/period type pain and hope that it becomes regular, but doesn't! What are we like?!

rrreow · 14/04/2011 19:26

Urgh I hear you. The heartburn is so awful. I'm having to start off sleeping upright at the moment.

Longtime · 15/04/2011 07:24

Leilababyno1, I'm not stalking you, honest, but just wanted to check you were okay (I posted on another thread of yours at the beginning of the month). This thread has made me smile (in a nice way). My dcs are 22, 20 and 11 so it's lovely to read about all of your imminent arrivals :)

Longtime · 15/04/2011 07:24

PS I hope the births all go okay.

LittleMilla · 15/04/2011 07:32

Been awake since 5:30am...couldn't nod off last night either. Tired, wondering what time I'll need my morning nap!

Anyone else getting themselves worked up over baby movements? Yesterday's report is really playing on my mind. It's an important issue that needs to be spoken about. However, I am struggling to concentrate on much else apart from baby's movements.

Bit of a catch 22 - the more I read, the more I get paranoid. But my insatiable need to know as much as possible means that I am reading other people's stories and sitting here sobbing Sad.

The thing is, so far as I can tell, baby seems to be jiggling along OK. But now I am scared...

frakyouveryverymuch · 15/04/2011 08:05

LittleMilla don't worry overmuch about movements - I mean, do worry and do be aware but know what makes your baby move IYSWIM rather than stressing when you haven't felt anything for 10 minutes! Rubbing their spine should wake them up.

Here (I'm not in the UK) we get very different advice and I think it's much better. Towards the end baby should be moving approximately every 1,5 hours because that's the length of their sleep cycle apparently, if you feel no movements for 3 hours (so 2 sleep cycles) then consult. I think the UK advice is 10 kicks or something over a specified time period, isn't it? And something fluffy about being aware of your baby's normal rhythm....

LittleMilla · 15/04/2011 08:21

Frak thanks for the advice. The thing that's doing my head in confusing me the most is that I haven't timed or counted its movements before...so don't know what's 'normal'. I'm just used to it lolling around! And then get paranoid when it sits still. The 1.5 hours thing makes sense to me...

I think that tiredness combined with raging hormones are a recipe for tears at this stage of pg TBH!

I just need to get a grip
