Hi everyone,

just wondering when you noticed the presence of baby?!
I am currently nearly 10 weeks and have developed a podge! May be due to the crap food I have eaten in Canada this last week ( they had no vegetables arrrghhhhh!)
i just wondered what you noticed that made you think oooooo here comes my bump :D

I have my scan in a few weeks and sooo scared! Really really want a baby to be in there
x

PS I am 5ft 10" and was told by MW that I would have a small bump as I have a long body so plenty of room for baby to have!x

At 10 weeks I was a bit podgier than usual (due to massive 1st trimester appetite and bloating). By 15 weeks I started to notice that I was getting bigger and had to switch to maternity clothes. Now at 20 weeks it's obvious enough to people who know me. I'm only 5'3" though and slim to start with.

Good luck for your scan :) i found it a scary wait too

lolajane2009 · 27/02/2011 15:52

i'm 11 + 5 and noticed mine a few weeks ago and it is getting more pronounced by the day. i'm only 5ft 2 and 9 and a half stone thou so it is hard to disguise

nannyl · 27/02/2011 16:26

im 11+5 with FIRST
have gone into maternity jeans today Shock

first noticed my bumo at 10+2

Have had really bad sickness (hyperemisis) and i lost a stone between 6 & 9 weeks, so really thought id be in my normal clothes for a while yet, but these last few days bump has grown.

Will be going to 12 week scan tomorrow in maternity trousers Shock

wolfcubEm83 · 27/02/2011 17:54

22+2 and not in maternity jeans yet!!
5ft 9 and 11 stone, only put 4 pounds on so far. Dont even look preggers. Defo a baby in there tho, can feel it!!

Meglet · 27/02/2011 17:58

Was in maternity jeans / work trousers by 8 weeks both times.

I am quite skinny though. I probably still looked normal to people who didn't know I was pregnant, but it was obvious to everyone who knew me (I had told people quite early on anyway).

theborrower · 27/02/2011 20:10

I was in my 'fat' trousers at about 2 months - my normal trousers just started to feel a bit tight and uncomfortable, and I think I was in mat trousers at 3 months. Not that anyone else noticed. However, a small bump only started emerging around 16 weeks, but I don't think strangers even noticed until I was about 6 months!

highheelsandequations · 27/02/2011 20:39

Felt I was getting fatter from about 10 weeks and couldn't fit normal jeans possibly even earlier than that but didn't get proper bump till about 15-16 weeks. Before that I could have been either pregnant or eating too much, as soon as bump started there was no doubting I was pg! Think my boobs were a more obvious sign than the bump at first though :) Hope all goes well with your scan.

PS I'm only 5'7" but also have a very long body, people thought I'd not show till late as I'm very slim but now comment on how big my bump's got!

daimbardiva · 27/02/2011 21:28

I'm at 9 weeks on my 3rd pregnancy and I can definitely notice my bump (as can DH) - I'd say this was the first week that it was noticeable as a bump rather than a podge! I'm hoping it's still not noticeable to other people though as I'm not ready to go public yet!

I think it was later first time round - probably about 12 weeks? all times I've noticed I get podgy pretty early on (2nd preg was mc at 6 weeks and even by then the podge had started...)

FluffyDonkey · 28/02/2011 10:41

Am 9 weeks today.

First noticed a small bump, very low down about 4 days ago. Noticeable only when standing. DH can see it too.

No podge for me though as I am so sick I've lost weight Sad . On the bright side I no longer have a tummy Smile

Plus, it means my bump is more noticeable (to me Grin )

StormInaCCup · 28/02/2011 10:45

I would say that I could notice a change to my body by about 10 weeks, I had a little bump by 14 weeks, a 'decent' bump by 20 weeks and by now (almost 26 weeks) am verging on 'heavily pregnant.' Goodness knows how I am going to keep expanding for the next 13 weeks?! Confused

KatieWatie · 28/02/2011 10:50

I'm only about 7 weeks, hardly eating anything, and yet am putting on weight like it's going out of fashion Confused, I definitely have a noticable bump. I'm 5ft 9, about 10 stone 10, and carry weight well except for round my tummy due to an alcohol 'penchant' pre-pregnancy Blush. The beer belly now seems to have been replaced with pregnancy belly.

My friend says it's normal to put on weight quickly at first and then lose it all later on, due to your body making initial room for the baby - is this true?

My mum-in-law is staying this week and has twice asked my husband if I'm pregnant because I'm "showing" - I find this really rude, if I wasn't pregnant she's basically saying I'm fat behind my back, and if I am pregnant (which I am!) we obviously have reasons for not telling her so why is she asking him!

wolfcubEm83 · 28/02/2011 13:09

OMG, i posted yesterday afternoon saying that i dont even look preggers and suddenly overnight my bump has exploded out of nowhere!!! My OH walked in on me in the shower this morning, took one look and was grinning from ear to ear, he said 'what the heck did you eat yesterday' Grin
I tried to get my jeans on, succeded (sp?) but when i sat down i was squashing the bump and baby started squirming Blush so i took them off straight away and am currently looking for nice maternity jeans on t'internet.
Lesson learnt - dont speak too soon!!

speffles · 28/02/2011 13:21

I had some extra podge at around 10 weeks. Not so that anyone else would notice though. I'm 18 +1 now and have a midi bump. i don't look really pregnant yet but people who know me can see a difference.

CrazyAlien06 · 28/02/2011 15:30

Scan was wonderful thanks

(only just back)

Made me cry, and thankfully there is just 1 acrobatic wriggly baby in there Smile

cant stop smiling

Leilababyno1 · 28/02/2011 15:47

Congratulations nannyl! First scan is the best!

Couldn't do up my normal jeans from 10 weeks onwards. Ended up leaving my fly undone, secured with a safety pin and wore long over hip tops. Gave in and wore maternity jeans from around 14 weeks..

Does depend on height and weight to start with though. I am only 5'3' and petite, and bump has measured very large throughout my pregnancy- am now 31 weeks and massive bump- arghhh!!! Not sure how much bigger I can get..Shock Too uncomfortable..Sad

freelancegirl · 28/02/2011 18:16

Am 9 weeks and I find mine seems to go up and down. Just like a normal non PG day I feel more bloated in the evening and flatter in the morning. But there's definitely more weight on. My nice 28 inch jeans don't do up and even my 30 inch chubbier jeans feel uncomfortable when I sit down. I wear a lot of dresses and tights and the dresses are tight on the boobs and tights really uncomfortable - have cut little slits in some of them to widen! I am reluctant to tempt fate and buy maternity tights until after my 12 week scan but I will def need them soon.

On the plus side I tried on some cheap and and cheerful maternity dresses and jeans in New Look and H&M yesterday and loved them. Can't wait to be able to buy some!

A bit worried about the weight gain, but hey, if it all goes well weight gain is pretty much a guarantee! The only prob is at this state, I look pregnant and podgy to me but other people might just think I have put on weight.

CrazyAlien06 · 28/02/2011 18:56

yay nannyl glad the scan went well :D fingers crossed for all the others and mine!

I had a bit of extra podge from about 10 wks but didnt have a bump for wks- actually started a thread on here as I was kinda worried about lack of bump at 16 wks and peoples comments weren't helping either but lo and behold I 'popped' out at 21 wks and am growing by the day currently 23 wks and have a def baby bump. Just hope I slow down cos at this rate i'll be massive by then end!!

CrazyAlien06 · 04/03/2011 20:57

I've got a lot of extra podge and not eating any differently! Not liking it at all, want bump soon so can look preggers not like I've eaten too many pies!
10+3 today and nothing there. Scan in few weeks though so hopefully a baby is in there just hiding at the mo!

I'm currently 10+2 with my first, and I wouldn't say I have a defined bump, but I definitely feel a little chunkier about the midsection. I don't look pregnant though. I initially thought I would have to pop out right away, as I am quite small - 5ft4 but I am a size 4-6 and only weight about 47kg usually.
However, I am still in my size 4 jeans and they still fit quite comfortably.

Fleecy · 04/03/2011 22:10

I will be 9wks tomorrow and last week someone commented that they knew I was pregnant because I had a bump. This is my 3rd so we haven't really bothered to hide it from people because I showed so quickly. I usually have a flat tum so it's really noticeable.

First time round I didn't show until about 16wks, second time I showed around 10wks.

lilly13 · 05/03/2011 10:02

at around 18-20 weeks

Pippaandpolly · 05/03/2011 19:32

I'm 11+2 and I've only gained 1lb so far but trousers are definitely less comfortable than they were. I don't think it's a bump yet but there's definite flab...(but then, there always was, so it's hard to know what's new!)
