Hi everyone,

just wondering when you noticed the presence of baby?!
I am currently nearly 10 weeks and have developed a podge! May be due to the crap food I have eaten in Canada this last week ( they had no vegetables arrrghhhhh!)
i just wondered what you noticed that made you think oooooo here comes my bump :D

I have my scan in a few weeks and sooo scared! Really really want a baby to be in there

With DS I didn't have a bump until around 20 weeks. It wasn't noticeable in clothes until around 24 weeks when I went into maternity trousers.

This time round I am just 10 weeks now and I don't look obviously PG at all - unless anyone notices how I have suddenly grown boobs and my waist has totally lost any definition. I just look a bit fat for now!!! Oh, and I must be grey skinned cos I have been sick as a dog and actually lost about half a stone from being unable to keep anything down.

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 15:19

still no evidence or pregnancy here, unless you count a flabby tummy? not sure if this could be body changing as havent changed diet and always had flat (ish) stomach, Darn not being able to do stomach crunches!

I am tall and didn't start showing until about 20 weeks. I had a very slight bulge at 18 weeks, but it didn't look like a pregnancy bump, more like I had eaten too many pies.

DitaVonCheese · 10/03/2011 15:35

I'm 20ish weeks and my bump is CRAP I've been wearing maternity jeans for a while, but only because my old non-mat pair were literally in tatters and needed binning Blush and there was no point buying new ones. I don't fill these jeans and still need a belt to hold them up!

Most people haven't noticed I'm pg yet, and even those who do know keep forgetting - family friend had been talking to me for about ten minutes the other day before saying "Oh, I'd forgotten you were pg - I thought you'd just put on a load of weight!"

With DD I was in mat clothes from about 10 weeks, but that was partly because I started the pregnancy a stone over my usual weight (it was just after our wedding/honeymoon/Christmas Grin). I thought it was supposed to show up sooner second time around!

Yaya70 · 10/03/2011 16:33

I'm 23 weeks and still no obvious bump when fully clothed. People at work that don't know haven't guessed. I'm tall though so I'm hoping it's just hiding in there.

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 16:39

hey im tall as well and mw said that I would have a small bump as I have a long body and there would be plenty of room for it to hide !

So scared about scan next week! really really really hope there is a little one there xx

I'm 14+4 with my first and I've had a pretty noticeable bump since about 11wks.
I'm tall (5'10") and normal build, 14 on bottom and 10-12 on top, but it seems my stomach muscles are crap and therefore I popped quite early!
My mum couldn't believe it but I've had people at work guessing (but not saying anything until I announced it) for a couple of weeks now. I think most of it is where my guts are getting pushed up, but this baby could also be a bit on the big side...eek.

Bought some lovely mat clothes from Red Herring at the weekend and now enjoying my bump :)

DaisyDaresYOU · 11/03/2011 22:02

Undutchable · 11/03/2011 22:06

12 weeks with DS1, and about 5.5 weeks with DS2! (wasn't long after DS1 so wasn't surprised I was showing)

I had no sign of a bump at 13 weeks - more like 26! And it appeared very suddenly. I think my stomach muscles just thought 'fuck it' and gave up. Honestly make the most of it - mine now feels so huge and it's in the way (37 weeks) although it doesn't stick out that much further than my boobs.

I went into underbump maternity jeans at 25 weeks I think because my normal ones were clearly annoying the baby.

FluffyDonkey · 28/03/2011 12:40

I wouldn't worry CrazyAlien. My "bump" is still the same as when I posted 4 weeks ago...Am now 13 weeks and don't show any more than before.

After I've eaten though my stomach definately sticks out more, and looks vaguely bumplike although I still weigh less than before getting pregnant Confused

G1nger · 28/03/2011 12:42

I'm 14 weeks. I noticed two weeks ago that my uterus feels more solid and slightly rounded. I also feel wider, which is not a comment on the weight I've put on (which I have) but also on something else. I'm making room in here, I can feel it.

citymonkey · 28/03/2011 12:45

I will be 16 weeks on Thursday (5'6", 8st 10/11 - which I have been since I got pregnant) and in the last couple of days I started to notice a slight bump. However it is not noticeable to others and unless you know me you would never guess I am preggers. Jeans starting to get a bit tight, I think because 'bump' is still quite low down and all of my jeans are quite low rise.

urbandaisy · 28/03/2011 12:57

I'm 5'9 and 16w4d, and over the past week I've definitely started to look pregnant, rather than just a bit bloated, which is a relief really! I'm quite slim normally, but have a long body so I'm not sure that the comments that all taller women will have a smaller bump are necessarily true -- probably just depends on your own physiology.

I haven't been able to button my jeans for about three weeks, and I'm into maternity trousers for work now (sooo much more comfortable). I think maternity clothes tend to accentuate your bump as well -- when I was just wearing my 'bigger' clothes which were getting tight, I just felt really fat and frumpy; I now feel quite svelte again because I've got clothes that are better tailored to my new, bizarre shape. A bit odd because they're a size smaller than I usually take, but I'm not arguing!

redexpat · 28/03/2011 14:23

9 wks. I can only wear sports bottoms and the one pair of jeans that were too big for me. My Zumba students noticed at 9 weeks and asked at 10. I've been eating quite well, but that's what my body told me to do.

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 14:30

I am 14 weeks by dates (or 14+4 by measurements) but I am still not showing I think. I am 5'6, 67kg and naturally have a little belly (used to have ti totally flat due to my obsession with Pilates, but it is now history ).

I do know the baby is there though, I have U/S to show for it! Grin

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 14:32

What I have noticed though is that food portions need to be much smaller than before or I will be suffering from overeating. Maybe my bump is internal? Hmm

G1nger · 28/03/2011 14:36

bemybebe My appetite is also a lot smaller - smaller and more frequent. I if our stomachs have got squashed and so reduced in size?

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 28/03/2011 14:46

Depending on the arrangement of your internal organs you may have more or less room to grow up instead of out and your uterus may be more or less forward facing, which affects when you show. Plus the strength of your core muscles will make a difference.

A squashed stomach is unlikely at such an early stage. What's more probable is that hormonal changes are leading to increased stomach acid and a looser sphincter at the bottom of the oesophagus (which is what causes heartburn in pregnant women) and that's making you feel fuller quicker.

citymonkey · 28/03/2011 14:54

I've also noticed I am eating much smaller portions - I have had near constant nausea, though (dare I say it) I think this is easing a little in the last couple of weeks, but I have no real appetite and after a few mouthfuls of anything I find I don't want to eat any more. Is quite annoying because I love food and I'm getting no real pleasure out of it at the moment!

lcrendon · 28/03/2011 14:57

I'm nine and a bit weeks, thought I had a bump until I passed a load of wind and my bump disappeared! Seriously though tights are already uncomfortable and falling down, keep having to hitch them up as I walk. Anyone suggest good maternity jeans?

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 15:02

I do not have the heartburn though and my appetite is not slow due to nausea or otherwise (I used to eat less due morning sickness as I could not even face or smell the food). Now it seems I cannot fit more than a portion for a 4 year old! Very annoying!

bemybebe · 28/03/2011 15:07

G1nger I thought is may be the case as I felt similar after a few days of fasting after food poisoning or similar. But after a day or two it was all back to normal. I have been trying to eat more over the past 2-3 weeks, but i really cannot. I went to a Michelin Star restaurant on Thursday and everyone had one of these tasting menus with 10 courses (tiny tiny portions). I was full after the 2 plate and had to completely stop after 5. Nearly cried as the food was absolutely to die for and I felt like crap (stuffed to the eyeballs).

chocolatehobnobs · 28/03/2011 15:40

Poor G1nger!
Things are getting back to normal now but I couldn't even watch masterchef or even any ads for food without feeling grim and nauseated. I have actually lost 2 pounds, despite eating lots of chocolate as I haven't been able to eat anything after 6pm and all portions have been small ones.
