Hello all. Well, I've had my 20 week scan. Everything normal but low lying placenta means repeat at 34 weeks, and a bit disappointed that we didn't find out the sex. Bits were well hidden although we might just have seen a hint of the three parallel lines. Sonographer did not let on at all.

Felling good apart from some boob pain and getting loads of movement now that hubbie can feel too :)

CBear6 · 27/04/2011 10:49

20 week scan tomorrow - one more sleep! Been annoying DH with the sleep countdown all week :)

Had a horrendous tummy bug Monday night/yesterday that (touch wood) seems to have gone today. I'm being daring and eating toast. The scan has given me something to look forward to though.

So here are my predictions:

  • breech position (not that it's a big deal at this point)
  • boy
  • anterior placenta
  • measuring larger than average by 2-3 weeks
CBear6 · 27/04/2011 10:50

Glimmerberry, Very glad everything went well for you - hopefully at 34 weeks you'll get more of a peek at baby's bits :)

recklesspixie · 27/04/2011 23:31

best of luck tomorrow CBear6 let us know how it goes!

CBear6 · 28/04/2011 15:10

Well my predictions we're almost right. Anterior placenta but baby is measuring spot on for dates, position is tucked up towards my left side, and it's a girl! I was so shocked (in a good way) that I burst into tears. My mam was waiting outside and the sonographer printed a close-up of baby's hand and wrote "hi Nana, I'm a baby girl!" on it so I could hand it to her.

vallinnapod · 28/04/2011 16:01

Hi all,

Thought I would check back in - I think I posted on here previously!

Pregnant with first baby, a boy due on 4th Sept. Very jealous of all you 20-week scanners! For some reason mine is at 22+3 - next Weds, 4th May - bang on my 5 month marker!

No real bump still, lots of wriggles and rather disappointingly shed loads of hair loss :(

Any who! Hello (again)!

recklesspixie · 28/04/2011 20:44

that's brillant news CBear you must be delighted Grin

Vallinnapod mine is 22+3 too, can't wait, have felt baby wriggling and if I press my tummy there's more wrigglng and noises like gurlging! think I had two 'pokes' but they were days apart so really hoping to get a definate kick soon. Have doctor appt on Tues and will get to hear the heartbeat Smile

yumstepmum · 28/04/2011 22:01

Hi all, glad to see all going well. Speaking of bumps, I'm only 20+ and I've had proper kicks for about 2 weeks and since last week DH has been able to feel them. It's only my first so I'm really surprised it can be felt this early but it is soooo strong! I guess I'll be able to see soon too. Any idea what this means being so early on? Scared baby's going to be massive!

ssmile · 02/05/2011 09:03

Hi yumstepmum I had lots of strong kicks and wiggles with last preg and this one from 19wks. I have a very active DD! She never stopped all the way through my preg and doesnt now. I dont know if thats their personality shining though on not ;-)

cbear glad all went ok with scan.

recklesspixie · 02/05/2011 10:56

feeling nauseous today, am 20+2, has this happened to anyone else?

CBear6 · 02/05/2011 13:38

My nausea has made a reappearance too reckless, it did with DS around this stage also and I remember going completely off meat because it tasted wrong, this time it's fish and oranges. I think it's to do with baby getting bigger and starting to squish up the stomach and stuff. I find it's easier to eat smaller meals/snacks more often and avoid any foods that are turning my stomach.

I'm really bumpy now and would like to thank the complete and utter bastard who shouted "fat cow" at me from the window of his white van (it even had a copy of the Daily Star on the dashboard) as I was out walking today. Probably more upset by it than I should be but what a prick. Luckily DH was on hand to tell me nice things.

Sumi76 · 03/05/2011 12:37

Hello all ! A little late entry on the sept bus :) Im due on the 17th of Sept with my first baby...20th week scan on thurs...fingers crossed !!!

Im not a coffee drinker but suddenly craving coffee...is it all that bad ?

CBear6 · 03/05/2011 15:06

There's a good guide here:
www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/nutrition/foodsafety/caffeine/

Some days I have barely any caffeine and others I go massively over, I think it's just bad if it's every single day. You could always try caffeine free coffee :)

bemybebe · 03/05/2011 15:13

Ooh, did not see this thread before... Can I still join you ladies?

I am 39 and 19 weeks today with my first (4 step older dc from my dh), all is fine, was very tired/nauseous in the first trimester, but all the nasty symptoms are now gone (still have sensitive boobs, but understand it is normal).

Did not feel any kicking at all yet!!!! Not even so-called 'gas' Hmm Cannot wait till my 20 week scan on Monday. V nervous though...

CBear6 · 03/05/2011 15:17

Welcome to the bus :)

It's normal not to feel movement until about 22-24 weeks with a first. I hadn't felt DS at 19 weeks but at my 20 week scan he gave me a massive kick that l felt and saw on screen at the same time.

Good luck for both your scans. It's nerve-wracking but amazing, so much more detailed than the 12 week scan - we got to see DD opening and closing her mouth, she was sucking her fingers and you could see the little finger bones, she had her legs crossed and you could see her toes and everything, it was great.

bemybebe · 03/05/2011 15:23

Thank you CBear6. Grin I will find a comfy seat at the back, shall I? (Due 27th Sept)...

Sumi76 · 03/05/2011 16:05

Thanks CBear6 :)

recklesspixie · 03/05/2011 20:10

Welcome bemybebe and Sumi76 , I'm pregnant with no 1 and only get the odd poke! can't wait for my scan at 22 weeks (2 weeks from today!)

Sumi76 · 05/05/2011 22:37

Had my 20th week scan today...so far so good and its a girl :) im super excited !!!!

Dualta · 06/05/2011 06:59

Congratulations Sumi! hi all how is everyone doing? still getting sick occasionally here (hmpf!) at 20 +1. But no nausea thankfully. Scan is next Wednesday and baby has been kicking and tumbling about for two weeks now, hard to believe how strong it is, I was expecting flutters but it went from a little tapping sensation to full on rumblings, and visible at that, within a week, bump expanded rapidly at the same time so i reckon a growth spurt happened on the easter hols :) . I was offered a seat on the tube yesterday for the first time (not sure how I feel about that one, ha!).

Hope you're all good - and for everyone finding out, did you have any signs you were having a boy or a girl and were they right?

bemybebe · 06/05/2011 09:46

Congratulations indeed Sumi!!
Oooo, I am so jealous, in a good way of course, Dualta. I am desperately trying to feel something but, nope, no kicking for me! I have put on only 2kg, but the bump is also fairly visible. (Not finding out the sex btw... Wink)

Sumi76 · 07/05/2011 11:53

Thank you Dualta. Wow you can actually feel the kicks and tumbles...im still confused between the baby and gas !

Thanks bemybee. 2 kgs is good...my doc has advised me not to put on more than 10-12 kgs coz of my short frame so i really have to watch the weight and its.not.easy !

recklesspixie · 10/05/2011 16:42

hi all, just heard about Kelly Brooke, so sad for her Sad Sad she was the same stage as us....

Had a GP appointment yesterday and all going well, got to hear the heartbeat which was lovely, scan this day next week (at 22 weeks) almost at the 24 week marker, woohoo!

bemybebe · 11/05/2011 12:27

Absolutely terrible for Kelly B, my heart goes out to her and all the ladies in similar position...
My pregnancy is very bitter-sweet for me, maybe because I am 'an older' mum and there are genuinely a lot of things to look out for or maybe because there are really so many reports about people having tragic outcomes at late stages and I keep projecting their experiences onto myself. I keep reading that these late losses are so rare, yet every other month someone else we know of goes through it... Sad

Kpotts · 12/05/2011 08:42

Hello Girls. Another late passenger if that's ok - only discovered MN yesterday! My DF and I are expecting out first DD on 22nd Sep. Excitement really starting to kick in this week, 21 weeks today, still such a mountain to climb!
